Sorry if this gets confusing but they have a rather exstensive enternal monolouge.
Ashurei knelt on one knee before the counsel his head bowed wings held high while they held their meeting. War was coming a big war one that would kill many of their kind if they were not careful. Even if they were many would die at the hands of the vampires. Their numbers were growing rapidly under the rule of their new leader and it was to be stopped in an all out war. It had taken Heaven three years to come to the decision that war be declared on them and in that time the vampires numbers had more than tripled. As it was they were not to go to war for another month and in that time the vampires would continue to spread unabated as they prepared for battle.
“Ashurei Jerevinan you twin and your younger brother will lead the strike in one months time.”
“Yes my Lord, but is it wise to involve Calintz in this battle he has not yet had much experience.”
“Be that as it may he is a Jerevinan and an Angel of Mercy he shall fight as shall all of the ranks. Understood?”
“Yes my Lord” ground out Ashurei trying hard not to let his anger at the idea show it wouldn’t do to lose his temper.
“Good the rest of the meeting doesn’t concern you. Dismissed.”
Getting to his feet Ashurei bowed before turning and leaving the counsel halls. Something of his anger must have shown because every angel who was in his direct path moved instantly as soon as they saw him. He didn’t stop and he didn’t care even when Calintz called out to him his only reply was a semi snarl before he continued. Leaping from the landing at the end of the hall he headed for the Jerevinan home hoping above all else that no one would be there. In theory no one should all his Blood line should be out doing there various tasks or training.
Landing he stormed through the corridors before reaching the room he shared with his twin. Pacing the length of it his anger still growing he slammed his fist into the door with all his strength. The wood buckled and split the door literally popping off the hinges seconds later before falling to the floor the thick wood broken in two.
“What happened?” the words were barely a whisper but he heard them well enough. Turning quickly his eyes fell on Beramode sitting in the corner his white wings arched and spread so he could lean against the wall. His long white hair pulled over his shoulder as he finished braiding the end of it his pale eyes watching Ashurei as he had paced and now looking for an answer.
“How long have you been there.” Asked Ashurei first turning to face his twin fully casting a sceptical look at him and wondering why he was there in the first place.
“Since half way through the council meeting I felt something was wrong so I came home to meet you. Now what happened brother?” the same calm and melodious voice making Ashurei’s anger lessen.
“Nothing, we’re going to war” he finished snarling as he began to pace the floor again “you, Calintz and myself are to lead the battle.”
“I though you would be glade of the chance to fight.” Returned Beramode getting to his feet “I thought this is what you wanted.” Quicker than he had been expecting both of Ashurei’s hands were on his face forcing him to look into his twins eyes.
“I will not sacrifice you in a battle we may barely win” he whispered not taking his eyes from his brother. So like him yet so different in appearance and manner, the same eyes the same coloured hair only with pale skin where Ashurei’s was tanned. His hair was silken on his fingers where his own was slightly less so, his lips held a pouting quality to them that was simply beautiful. ~If I kissed him now would he pull away? If I dared to would he reject me? Does he even know how much I want him even if it is a sin? I cant lose him not through this and not like this. No now is not the time it will never be the time. Dear lord what am I even thinking? Ashurei you have become a fool.~
“You, us, the whole Bloodline… I wont sacrifice any of it” he finished awkwardly releasing Beramode and stepping back “I’m going to the training grounds I need to beat something.” Then he turned and left leaving Beramode alone in the room.
“Ashurei” he whispered to himself touching a hand to his cheek “no, it couldn’t be. But for a moment there I could have sworn he… no you’re a fool” Walking back to where he had been sitting sliding back down the wall ignoring the protest of his wings. ~You’re a fool Beramode if you think he meant any more than he said. Honestly how could you even consider that its blasphemy. If the council found out I even thought like this they would cut my wings. God if Ashurei ever found out he would probably do it for them.~ “Beramode you’re an absolute fool” he sighed even as one of his wings twitched violently at the odd position it was in. Leaning forward slightly he concentrated on his wings shuddering as they finally began to retract into his back. Once they were fully retracted he leaned back against the wall and drew his knees to his chest hugging them.
“Beramode what on earth are you doing?” asked Calintz as he walked into the room half an hour later.
“Just sitting.” He sighed back not bothering to look up.
“Where are your wings?” asked the youngest of there bloodline making Beramode chuckle. The idea that any angel would willingly retract their wings was as startling to Calintz as it was to any other. Looking up he met his siblings eyes with a small smile before getting to his feet flicking his braid back over his shoulder.
“Calintz, did it ever occur to you that some times just maybe” stepping forward he ran his hand over the pristine white feathers of Calintz wing “That these stunning things we all take for granted might actually get in the way?” beneath his hand the younger angel shivered at the contact.
“I… I don’t understand” admitted Calintz looking up at his brother not sure he really understood what he was saying.
“No I didn’t think you would” smiled Beramode before he left the room and his stunned looking brother behind him “If Ashurei or Natalie ask for me I’m going for a bath.”
Minutes later Beramode sunk into deep warm water that was only mere degrees away from scotching his skin. Each Bloodline in Heaven had its how house varying in size compared to rank of the blood. In a way it was much like how humans lived on Earth however no Angel would ever admit to that let alone an Angel of Mercy. As it was the Jerevinan family being both high ranking Angels and Angels of Mercy each and every one of them they held one of the more luxurious dwellings. Nothing overly extravagant nothing more than what was needed of course but everything they needed was in abundance. The bath was large enough for both Beramode and Ashurei to spread there wings fully in it without either of them touching the side or each other. Which was a quite considerable thing when one of the twins wings was roughly over twenty foot from wing tip to base, twice the size of any other angels.
Moving away from the edge Beramode stood so the water was at chest level before bending over and arching his back. First one wing then the other spread agonizingly slowly into the world refusing the general ripping free thing every one else’s seemed to do. It was tiresome and painful and he would never admit it but he hated it and he almost hated them.
“Stupid things” he grumbled as he folded them the water shifting through the feathers oddly “You would think that having them all my life would make me use to them but no they just live to piss me off. Oh god now I’m talking to myself.” He sighed as he moved to the far end of the bath slowly un-braiding his hair as he went trying to ignore the sensation of the water moving through his wings. Placing the tie on the edge and content he was as far away from the entrance as he could get Beramode leaned against the edge. Letting his body hang in the water with his head on his folded arms he relaxed his wings the water taking the majority of there weight. Slowly the heat of the water was working through the muscles of his back and his whole body taking away the tension that had built up quickly and allowing him to relax.
**
Sweaty and near exhausted Ashurei headed straight for the bath startled when he saw Beramode already in the water on the far side. Steam rose off the surface of the pool and as Ashurei tested the water he smiled, his brother was the only one other than himself to make the water this hot and he loved it. Stripping of his sweat drenched clothes he entered the bath with barely a ripple to the water his wings held behind him entering last. Looking over at his twin he took note of the position of his body and wings all of which were simply hanging and limp. Beramode was asleep.
Wading across the bath he stoped behind him taking a moment to gaze at the beautiful pale skin of his back. The curve of the muscles as the skin stretched over them and the all over leanness that was Beramode. It seemed that no matter how much his brother trained it was impossible for him to bulk up, he always remained slim with slight definition. His two white wings hung limply from there place drooping into the water allowing Ashurei to see a wide section of smooth back. The strong muscles that moved and controlled the wings the only large ones Beramode had, without thinking he reached out and ran his fingers gently over the curve of them.
Beneath his fingers the angel muttered something his wings shifting slightly but no more. Not enough to distract Ashurei from his study even as he let his palm skim the area marvelling at how smooth Beramode’s skin was at how perfect it was. Looking from his hand to the pale skin he smiled at the difference, although twins it never ceased to amaze him the simple difference of their skin. Ashurei’s was a mocha colour while his twins was a very pale almost white more like the colour of his white finger nails than anything near the colour of his skin. Yet they were twins and the only twins in heaven thus no one questioned it just as no one questioned why their wings were so much bigger.
Lost in his thoughts Ashurei failed to notice his fingers still tracing a lazy trail over and around the muscles of Beramode’s back. The slight and constant touches however finally woke the long haired angel who shifted making his brother snatch his hand back.
“You shouldn’t sleep in the bath you know” he whispered softly so Beramode would know it was him.
“Hmm? Oh I didn’t mean to I was just…” Beramode paused mid sentence, his body was doing something rather odd. The feeling that was running through him even more odd and confusing ~what in the name of all that’s holy is my body doing to me now? And further more… why?~
“I know… you never mean to” returned Ashurei wondering what his twin was thinking about.
Deciding to ignore his body’s odd decision to redirect some of his blood flow he gathered himself and his wings before turning to face Ashurei. His twin was behind him having moved back slightly a look on his face Beramode hadn’t seen before.
“What is it?” he asked frowning.
“We’re going to war.” Replied Ashurei on instinct still watching the other angel even as his mind raced wanting to say so much more. ~How do I tell him I don’t want to lose him? How could I ever admit that I don’t want to lose him because I’m not sure I want anything other than him? What would he do if I told him? This is ridiculous we go into battle in a month which might as well be a week since I have to go to Earth before hand.~
“Yes I know we are. Just like you wanted, just as you had hoped. We are going to war to fight the vampires. Our mere hundreds against there thousands. All in the name of Heaven to save the souls of Humanity from the curse of the vampire.” Whispered Beramode his own hate for battle showing through, this war was not for him but he would fight it. ~Why can’t he just say what he’s really thinking I know he’s hiding something.~
“Don’t say it like that” snarled Ashurei his eyes’ focusing on Beramode’s his wings twitching at his twins words making the water ripple.
“Why? It’s the truth… you wanted this war now you have it. Yet you mope like you don’t and refuse to tell me what is really on your mind.” Shot back Beramode his own wings arching up in frustration. Ashurei stared at him his mouth hanging open although he did have a point it was unlike him to get upset.
“Beramode” he whispered “you wouldn’t understand so just leave it.” He tried preying his twin would even though he knew nine out of ten times he wouldn’t they knew each other to well.
“No” came the reply just when he thought he might leave it be. Moving through the water ignoring both his body and his wings Beramode stoped so he was mere inches from his twin. The water lapped at them mid chest the warmth still trying to work its magic on tensed muscles. Reaching up he brushed Ashurei’s fringe from its usual spot tucking the length behind his ear before running his thumb along his cheek and cupping his face. “You never talk to me any more, what have I done to make you not trust me?”
Ashurei gave a start at the words and the warmth of his brothers hand on his face. Leaning into the caress he lifted his own hand laying it over the one on his cheek gently. A position they had taken for years, one of trust between two angels of the same mould.
“You have done nothing to make me not trust you, I would and do trust you with my life. I just…” ~Oh god how can I say this to him but he deserves to know “If I fall I will not drag you down with me for my thoughts.” Fuck that sounded lame now you know he’s going to ask more questions.~
“Why would you fall for your thoughts when no one else knows them? We are the Angels of Mercy our thoughts are our own because of what we do. Ashurei… what do you think that you could fall for?” Beramode watched his brother his hand still pinned between Ashurei’s hand and cheek although he didn’t mind. He watched his brothers eyes carefully, watching the war rage in them as he considered his words and what he would or wouldn’t say.
“I love you brother” he said finally before pulling back and leaving the baths not even bothering to dry himself or dress. Beramode simply watched him go his mind hitting a stand still before it would explode. They each had missions on Earth the next day where they would be separated, then they would come back and the war would begin there was no time for this.
Slipping under the water Beramode curled into a ball before screaming in frustration and anger. His wings spread to there full span breaking the surface as he buried his hands in his long hair thrashing under the water. With no more air to scream with he simply hung in the water for a moment his wings dropping over the surface half sinking below it. His lungs screamed for oxygen his body demanded air to the point where he had to give in or drown. Getting his legs under him he stood from the water flicking his long hair in an arch over his back as he did so. Taking in three very deep but forcefully steady breaths he opened his eyes and almost laughed at who was standing in front of him.
“Looking a little wet there Calintz” he stated as he moved to the edge of the bath and got out water running rapidly from his wings.
“No thanks to you and your damn hair” snarled back the younger “What the fuck were you doing any way?”
Beramode didn’t answer instantly, grabbing on of the towels he wrapped it around his waist “Oh…. just trying to drown myself. Nothing out of the ordinary you know the same old as always.”
“What!?” exclaimed his youngest brother in sheer horror actually managing a chuckle from Beramode this time as he strode off through the house heading back to his room. ~He is just way to easy to tease. He really has to learn to lighten up or he is never going to have any fun in his life. Mind you he probably think fun is something cherubs do not Mercy angels. I suppose his right but hell he needs to get that pole out of his ass.~
Walking into the room that he and his brother shared Beramode spared a glance at the figure of his brother motionless on the bed opposite his own. Ashurei lay facing him, all of his features visible in the beams of light that fell through the window across him. One bar of it resting over a curve of his tanned shoulder right down hi side to the line of one hip before bending of the smooth flesh to the mattress. As usual his wings were folded behind him as he lay on his side, one spread across the bed the other arched up tilting gently towards his own body.
In his sleep Ashurei moved and Beramode’s breath caught in his throat as he watched the subtle shift, his brother moving a little further onto his back. The no more than slight movement enough to shift the way the light fell on his body one beam of it now spreading across his face. Revealing the line of his jaw the delicate bones of his cheek the long lashes of his stunning eyes the smoky platinum hair that wasn’t quite silver. Beramode sighed and turned away unwrapping the towel from his waist and bending to fish the pants he slept in from beneath his pillow. Slipping into the dark fabric he turned back to his twin gazing at him from a distance not willing to close the space between them.
“Ashurei” he breathed longingly “If you could fall for your thoughts then I would burn in hell for mine.” Climbing onto his own bed Beramode took a moment to lay down as Ashurei was. One of his wing spread across the huge space of the mattress the other hanging comfortably from his back curled only slightly “If only you knew how I loved you.”
Closing his eyes with a sigh Beramode was oblivious to the pale white ones that snapped open on the other side of the room.
~~** Well there it is. Ashurei and Beramode as well as there dull silly brother Claintz who is rather clueless. I know this may not make alot of sense since its a background story for two established characters in another fic I am yet to post. However you know the deal read and review and if you have any questions feel free to ask and I shall do my best to answer them.**~~
