Lady of the Flowers
“She stole the keys to my house
and then she locked herself out.
She lays me down.
She lays me.”

Yellowish light bursts from the small hole on the lighter’s top. It trembles for a second before it stills.
The white paper at the end of a thin, self-rolled cigarette turns brown and curls back a little before the flame reaches the tobacco inside.
Her lips close around the other end and she sucks the smoke into her lungs. The room fills with a bitter scent of the cigarette as she exhales.
“So…”
She drops the lighter on the night desk, nodding her head, telling she’s listening.
“I believe your jeans are in the kitchen and your shirt is at the door. And what comes to your underwear, I believe these are yours.”
She takes the black strings to her fingers and turns them the right way up.
“So, there’s no way you’re going to stay?”
“I have to go to work.”
She’s standing now and I can’t help but to admire her body, only covered by the strings she has just put on.
I rise from the bed and walk to her, she takes a deep drag from her cigarette, before taking it from her lips. There’s a trace of her lipstick – or mine, I don’t know, on her cheek and I rub it off softly with my thumb.
She blows the smoke to my face and I close my eyes, the bitter scent burns in my nostrils faintly. I open my eyes just to close them again as she leans to capture my lips with hers.
It’s sweet. It’s always so damn sweet.
And I always fall for it, I just can’t help myself.
Her fingers brush a strand of my hair behind my ear.
I must have stayed there, hypnotized, for seconds after she had pulled away. As my eyes flutter open she’s already taking her bras from the back of the wooden chair.
“I…”
I reach towards her, but something makes me pull away. She looks at me with a faint smile on her lips, but before I recognize what it’s supposed to mean she turns he head, so I can’t see her face behind the dark curtain her hair creates.
She walks out of the room, taking her shirt from the floor and disappears to the kitchen.
Faint ruffle of thick cloth – her jeans. Zipper pulled up.
Quiet steps on the floor, fading slowly.
I sit on the bed and wait there until I hear her close the door behind her. I can still hear her heels knock against the floor of the hall.
I walk to the door.
Suddenly the air feels colder against my skin. I try to cover myself with my hands, hugging myself tightly.
She left the keys on the floor.
