Ode to a Skeleton

I am dead.

And the rain beats on my fleshless head.
The sun bleaches my moldering bones.
And the wind circles my hollow skull and groans.

Where once my brilliant brain did rest
a field mouse now has built her nest.

Where once did shine my burning eyes
she finds two doorways just her size.

Now I look down and behold
the thing that once did house my soul.

I was not burried in the sod
but yet I found my way to God.
