Traces of You
Sitting in the park
Children laughing
Merry-go-rounds and swing sets
A statue sheltered by branches
I wonder if it knows I’m thinking of you
People come and they go
But time seems to stand still
Everything a blur in my periphery
Will this black hole in my heart ever be filled?
Warm morning light
Scatters across my face
Wrapped in the comfort of my memories
Yet I’m still so cold
I close my eyes to see you
Still breathing and living for me
It is so real that it cannot be
Your lies have become my truth
Won’t you just leave me?
Leave me to my solitude
Give me to my memories
In which all are of you
Let me go on blindly
I don’t want to see
All of the pain
That has consumed me
