Thief

As I stared at you, you glanced at me,

My bravado gone, my courage shattered,

I do not shudder and I do not shake,

I am not afraid yet I am terrified,

A smile hides my fear,

A gesture disguises my nerves,

I want to speak but you stole my words,

I want to act but you froze my feet,

I want to tell you, but you stole my heart.

I wanted to give it to you but you took it,

I wanted to share it with you but you threw it,

I lost my courage, I lost my bravado,

You make me fear again,

Afraid to speak,

Afraid to walk,

Afraid to talk,

Afraid to act upon my urges,

To scared to tell you what I want,

To alone to let you go,

You stand confused as I babble on,

You look into me and see nothing,

I look at you and see you walk away,

Arms laden with what is mine,

My bravado, my courage, my heart.
