“Move, move, move” Captain Jankins yelled to the rest of his squad as they rounded the corner heading into the auditorium. There wasn’t much left of his squad “The Darken”. They had gotten their name from a mission they had completed over ten years ago, in which they had overtook an entire 20 floor skyscraper in complete darkness from a group of terrorists.. Back then they were called Squad Sandpiper. When the squad had started out there were 32 soldiers in his squad. Over the years the squad had lost many people to different things. Death, illness, old age, and family were just a few of the causes for his men leaving.
Up until 4 days ago there had still been a good number left in the squad, 20 to be precise, but now there were only 8 members left. Of those left, 3 were injured and the rest severely fatigued. They were so tired due to the constant engagement in battle and from having to move from place to place just to stay safe, heck just to stay alive to be precise.
“Everybody freeze! I hear something” Sergeant Dan Brayton spoke suddenly as he stopped suddenly. They all listened to their surroundings intently.
“Everybody down, NOW! ” Jankins quietly ordered to his men as he squatted down so that he was as low as he could be to the ground and still be able to move.
