In My Mother's Footsteps

In My Mother\'s Footsteps part 1
by Entervixen

My mother is a queen. A queen of some of the most powerful people in the world. You don\'t know them for what they are, though you may know one or two of us. Why? We are dragons. We never use our true shapes anymore, but we have them. It\'s too risky now, too may people our on the earth, who might see. And we have a rule. Anyone who sees us shall die. I know. Someone tired to expose us. It was enough to turn the stomachs of the most hardened humans. Me? Well, I helped eat her.
Forgive me, I didn\'t intorduce myself. I am Judith, the first child and heir to the throne. I am a smaller replica of my mother, except for my eyes. I have my father\'s eyes, a beautiful, clear peridot green, eyes to make a cat jealous. My brothers, Thomas and Gideon, look like their father, my mother\'s lover, Liam. Long, wavy black hair to their feet with gorgeous blue eyes, the blue of a summer sunset. They are as breathtakingly handsome as he is. Mother is working on her fourth child now, Mourn\'s child. We, or, rather, I, hope it\'s a girl. I love my brothers, but I can\'t talk to them about some of the things I could talk about with a sister.
\"Judith, will you please pay attention?\" Michael was trying to teach me some new rule in magic that I already knew, and had mastered. I yawned.
\"Why? I know what you\'re teaching, I already mastered it.\" I looked at him again, smiling. He was handsome as well, longrlinrling black hair with deep green eyes the shade of a good emerald, versus the lighter of my brother\'s eyes. I smirked at him, giving him my profile. \"Mother showed me how to do it.\"
Michael threw his hands up in the air. \"Gods damn it, why do I even bother with you? At least your mother paid attention.\"
I laughed, deep and throaty. \"But I do pay attention to you. Just not when it comes to magic. I can ask Mother to show me.\"
Michael looked at me funny as I turned back to face him. I smoothed the front of my blouse, thin and lacy and oh so black. It didn\'t need it, but I still did it, enjoying the way his eyes followed the path my hands took, lingering on my breasts. He swallowed and jerked his gaze back to my face, slightly flushed. I snirked again. Unlike my mother, I knew the effect I had on people, and often exploited it. Like with Michael. The difference with Michael was, it wasn\'t teasing. I really wanted him that badly. Unfortunately, he usually turned down my advances. Looking at him now, I mentally cheered. I was finally getting to him. But, how far could I push him this time?
I tossed back my hair and stalked up to him, hips swaying, feeting landing one in front of the other. It was a seductive walk, one I had mastered at an early age. Michael\'s eyes widened, but he said nothing. I stopped when I was clsoe enough that a deep breath would have brushed our chests together. I idilly reached up and trailed one finger down his chest, smiling at him all the while. I was tall, tall enough that I came up to his eyes, and Michael is a tall man.
Michael grabbed my hand as it reached the top of his pants. I looked down at our hands and laughed again. He wanted me. I looked back up at him, gently taking both hands and placing them on my breasts. \"Don\'t tell me you don\'t want this.\"
His breath sped up, but he didn\'t move his hands. \"Your mother would kill me.\"
I leaned into him, breathing along his neck. \"I don\'t think she would. And besides, what she doesn\'t know won\'t kill her.\"
There was nothing he could say to that. Slowly, almost painfully slowly, he leaned down, touching his lips to mine. I wouldn\'t call it a kiss, because it wasn\'t. but it felt good, better than any fantasy I had ever had, I didn\'t want it to end. Unfortunately, it did. He pulled away so suddenly I stumbled. I turned to catch him, but he mussed the circle and was gone. I dropped to me knees, stunned. He wanted me, right? So why did he run like that? I screamed and threw some fire to the ground, scorching the stone, before standing up and running out of the room, not bothering to clean up the circle.
I ran into Liana on the way to my rooms. She probably wanted to speak to Mother, but at that moment, I couldn\'t care less. I went to rush by her, and she caught my arms, spinning me around. Her expression was one of concern.
\"What\'s wrong, Judith?\"
For a second, I debated telling her everything. She would understand, I told myself. But she was one of Mother\'s closest advisors, and told her everything. I snarled and turned my head. \"I am fine.\"
Liana dropped my arm, frowning. She knew I was lying, but she wouldn\'t push it. \"I don\'t bee yoe you, but I won\'t push you.\" She hesitated, and added, \"If you need to talk, I\'m always here.\"
I laughed, not my head turning laugh, but a bitter one, one filled with anger, hate, and pain. \"Sure,\" I said, and walked away.
