A Chain Around my Ankle

I wear a chain around my ankle
I never told you why
But truth be told I tell you now
Without it I\'d have died.

I wished I could just go away
But my tether made me stay
Stay to live and look ahead
Though I\'ve never stopped wishing that I was dead
The appeal of the dark had always been too good
To throw away just \'cause I \'should\'

No one understood me
No one ever knew
Until I wore the chain around my ankle
The one that reminded me of you.

A/N: Dedicated to my sis. You may not be blood, but you\'re mine, and that\'s enough for me. Love you.

A/N2: Anyone know how to post a poem without a content code? Thanks.
