DEAD HEART
Her eyes are flashing bright
light from up above.
The smiles get faxed
office down the street.
Sell yourself again,
But not your heart,
That would spell the end,
Everything you worked for:
Gone!
Faded past the fork in the road,
Dusty travelers return,
Collecting what is theirs.
Her eyes are dully lit,
She just barely recognizes,
Where her heart went long ago.
