Chapter One: The Life of a Death
~*~
Blood cooling wind shifted coarsely between the dark ally ways; the air current rode along the dark bricks that lined the motionless buildings. The eerie darkness settled along the cold pathways that lined the streets.
This was the town of death; a town that was feared by the most brave of humans. Nothing could be heard from its empty depths, which cascaded endlessly into a darkness that seemed to move like a wild beast.
My name is Victor; keeper of the darkness and watcher of the night. I roam this town, searching out the fiercest of the immortal life that progress along this formed land. I was born to fight these beasts and I am going to die fighting these beasts.
~*~
Soft whispers of the wind nuzzled against the dark figure that moved with a light speed along the foggy path. His eyes pierced with red flames of desire; a need for death to surpass his cold eyes Not Nothing more than a shadow in the outlining darkness, his quest lies within the mere confounds of this most feared village. Standing at 6’3, toned with pulsing muscles that are outlined with his tight leather suit; his jet black hair tossing needlessly in the wind; his eyes full of cold depths and deep secrets; at his side carrying a silver gun that nestles into his fully armored thighs as well as a metal stake that occupies his other thigh; a character that could not be forgotten.
~*~
His eyes glazed over the darkness, acting as though they seemed to be looking for something. The ruffling of his leather trench coat broke the silent surroundings. A smile formed at the sides of his lips, “Right on time.”
A forming figure left the covering of the fog, appearing dark and of masculine tone. The piercing red eyes shift over to the tall man that neither moved, nor voiced a desire to leave. He let out a soft laugh that echoed through the town. “And what do we have here? Someone willingly traveling into our village?”
Victor tossed his hair with boredom resting in his eyes. He lightly placed his hand to his thigh, lightly pulling the gun from its resting place. “Naw, just a curious tourist, looking for someone to talk to.” He allowed the gun to graze up from his side.
The figure allowed his eyes to wander along the curves of thdy tdy that moved before him. “I’d have to say, it takes courage to come to this place; but it takes skill to stay alive.” With a quick shift, the man pressing his leg out into a kick like manner.
Victor watched the man, boredom still corrupting his eyes as he easily blocked the man’s attempt to hit him. Turning slightly, Victor powerfully sent his hand into the man’s side, causing a shriek to tear from the red stained lips.
Victor’s eyes gleamed as he heard the death cry. “Not very good are you? You have to put more into it then that…” Victor shifted his weight to one side, enjoying the toying with the raging vampire that now hissed at him.
The vampire’s eyes glared fiercely at Victor, “Who the hell are you?” Victor grinned. “I thought you’d never ask. I am Victor; keeper of the darkness and watcher of the night. I protect the innocent from scum like you, challenging your race with all that I have to offer.”
The vampire’s eyes widened as he now backed into the darkness out of fear. “…D…Darkrider?” His mouth went dry asgazegazed in awethe the man before him.
Victor smiled once more, loving how his nick name rolled off the vampire’s tongue. “Yes…” He crossed his arms against his chest, allowing the vampire a moment more to watch him. “I am afraid that it is time that you disappear.” With the speed of light, he switched his weapons to a stake that rested on his other thigh and drove it into the vampire’s chest.
The vampire was unable to even react before he dissembled in ash that blew out in all directs, getting caught in the current of the rushing wind. His hand rested softly against his thigh, returning the stake timidly to his side.
Victor let out a deep sigh, turning to begin to walk down the path. He heard a soft crying coming from one of the allies to his left. At once he proceeded towards the soft cries. He came upon a boy in his teens. The boy’s hair was tossed carelessly over his knees and his arms wrapped tightly around himself in protection.
Victor crouched, staring at the boy. He could hear the boy’s heart beating so he concluded that he wasn’t a vampire. The boy’s clothes were torn a bit. His face was stained with dried tears that streamed along his cheeks.
The boy looked up from his knees; his eyes wide with fear as he took a breath in, holding it there at the instant that he saw the man before him. Victor smiled gently, “Don’t worry; I am not here to harm you.”
The boy let a sigh seep from his mouth. “Oh…” He looke a b a bit more, taking in the features of the man that smiled with cold eyes, but somehow they seemed gentle.
Victor noticed the boy’s eyes gaze over him. “I am Victor. I protect this area. What are you doing in this forbidden town?” His eyes now grew ice cold, timidly staring at the now shuddering boy.
The boy let out a small sigh once more, “My mother was taken here by a man with pale skin and red eyes. I followed him, intending to save my mother. Before I had the chance to fight back, he bit her and…” his words caught in his throat as the memory of his mother’s death became clear in his vision. Tears rolled from his eyes.
Victor held a hand out to the boy, “Look, it isn’t safe out here. Come with me, I will take you to my safe house.” The boy gently grabbed Victor’s hand, allowing the man to help him to his feet.
Victor led him silently down the path to a shacked door, metal on the outside. Victor opened the locks and allowed the boy to wander inside; he followed and turned, locking the door. Victor turned to the boy, who seemed interested in the house-like area. “What’s your name?”
The boy looked at him, smiling. “Tyler…” He walked a little towards Victor, staring up into his dark eyes. “Thanks for helping me out.”
Victor nodded, “It’s my job.” He walked past the boy over to the couch that burrowed next to a wall, in front of a wide screen T.V. He stretched out on the couch, thinking of how he should treat this situation. He was never really good with children; actually, he wasn’t good with any kind of human.
Tyler looked over to Victor, trying to determine whether he should stand there or follow the man to the couch. Victor turned to Tyler, watching him at the corner of his eye. ‘Okay, this kid just saw his mother die right before his eyes. He must really be hurting inside.’ Victor sat up slightly, coaxing for the boy to come join him.
Tyler moved silently over to the couch, sitting lightly down on the soft material. His eyes glazed over the room, looking at the many items that scattered along the walls and shelves. Books lined the walls: thousands of them.
Victor thought briskly, ‘Must say something…but what?’ He looked at the boy who was still pale from the fear of his mother’s death, “So, where is your father?” He gazed at the boy, hoping that he had said the right thing.
Tyler looked over to Victor, “I don’t have a father. He left my mother and me when I was born. She was all I had.” He silently rested his focus on his hands in his lap. Victor cursed lightly to himself, “I’m…sorry.” His eyes watched the boy.
Tyler smiled, “Don’t worry.” Victor couldn’t help but sympathize for the boy. “So that means you have no where to go?” His eyes were gentle now, trying to sooth the boy in this time of need.
Tyler let a tear roll down his cheek, “Yes.” He pressed his hands harshly on his thighs to release his frustration. The pressure of his grip tore at his skin. Victor looked at the boy helplessly; he didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t take the boy in, it was too dangerous.
Tyler looked over to Victor, his eyes now flooded with tears. His body ached from loss of his mother. He wanted to fall over dead, returning to his mother’s gentle arms in heaven.
Victor turned to the boy, “Look, I know that you are in a dilemma, but you can stay here until morning. When morning comes, I will take you to the nearest town and we will find you a home.” He watched the boy nod lightly.
Tyler looked up at Victor, “Victor, I would like to work beside you andnge nge my mother’s death. I want to protect others from these beasts like I couldn’t protect my mother.” Victor shook his head.
“It’s too dangerous; I will simply not allow it.” Tyler grasped Victor’s arm in plea, “Please…please…I do not have much to live for. Please allow me to help you.” Victor looked into the boy’s eyes; they carried so much pain. He thought lightly, ‘I would like to have someone to talk to sometimes…’
Victor let out a low sigh, his sympathy getting the best of him. “Okay, but you have to promise me one thing.” Tyler looked at Victor, waiting to hear what the request was. “You have to let me do the fighting…these creatures are immortal and it takes much practice to face them. I will train you, but it will take you a while before I allow you to come with me.”
Tyler nodded happily; he wrapped his arms around Victor, hugging him tightly. Victor felt the boy press against him. He didn’t know how to respond to this. He thought for a second, before he finally encircled his arms around the boy. Only tonight would he do this, the boy after all just witnessed his mother’s horrible death.
Victor led the boy to a room that had a bed in the corner and one book shelf, otherwise it was pretty plain. Tyler went to the bed, sliding beneath the covers and closing his eyes. Victor closed the door and walked lazily over to his room that was only two doors down from the boys.
He put on his pajama’s and sat at the side of the bed. Tonight he would sleep, for the boy’s sake. He went underneath the covers and closed his eyes, sweeping his jet black hair from his eyes.

OOC: His kindness makes me happy! He is so sexy. Darn it, he is a fictional character. No matter, he will be real some day. Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed. Cha two two will be coming soon. Please leave reviews. I would really like to know what you liked and disliked about it.
