One Day

I spend my life
Drifting from one thing to the next
Marching on
Ever vigilant in my prayers
Never questioning whether they will be answered
Only uncertain as of when

Life has been a long journey for me
Carrying me so many places
Places that linger in my minke ake a morning fog
Fading around you when you draw near
But making you ever mindful of the night before

I've seen too much in the tedium of my life
And though the pattern of my experiences is ever changing
One thing stays constant
Like a banshee my screams shatter the silence of my mind
The mantra running through my brain never fades

One day someone will love me
One day someone will care
One day I will not be alone

Like a frightened child in the darkness
I sit with eyes clenched tight and palms covering my ears
Rocking back and forth
Silently praying that someone will come to rescue me

In the cold stillness of the dark
I beg
Beg to be brought into the light
Beg for deliverance from my solitude
Beg for the hand that must come to lead me out of the darkness

On and on I rock
Back and forth
Sure that one day someone will come
One day someone will rescue me
One day someone will give me the love I deserve
