Suburban Romeo

I wait for my love; she always takes the same route home
How I long to see her, see her cheerful smile
I wait in the cold praying she gets here soon, I dream of having her for my own
I dream nonstop about how we first met, I saw her in the hallway at school
Her raven hair called to me, her green cat’s eyes taunted me
Her porcelain skin begged me to touch her
My heart quickens as I notice her strolling my way
It takes all my control to keep from pressing her charcoal lips to mine as she passes
\"Would you care to go out sometime?\" \"Care to join me for a movie?\"
These are the words I’ve dreamed of saying someday but never get the courage
As she passes me all I can manage is a gentle sigh of regret
I wait a few paces before I follow her; I walk all the way to her driveway
I stop as if tying my shoelace, so she will have one last moment to notice me
I look longingly towards her door; I notice something on the front step
Her hairbrush I rush to the step snatching it up my finger goes to hit the doorbell
But something inside stops me; I notice the soft scent of her lingering
I just stand there on her step lost to everything around me
All my mind will allow is the sweet scent of her hair
I turn around and head on my way home
Once I arrive I go to my room placing her brush on my nightstand
I just lay there thinking, “What have I done?”

I close my eyes in a futile attempt to sleep, my mind flows with thoughts of you
How I long to hold you, to feel your warmth penetrate my body
If only I could kiss those perfect lips, those perfect obsidian lips
To stare into those deep green eyes and to have them stare back longingly
In my bedoss oss only to see what I have taken
I take the brush in my hand and stare at it each bristle each hair all judging me
“Alright, fine then finally I\'ll tell her and if she doesn’t share my feeling good”
“At least I\'ll be rid of my feelings and guilt”
I rush out without even checking the time
Outside the skies are black, the rain crashes down soaking me before I\'m out the door
It doesn’t matter nothing else does before tonight is over she will know
By the time I arrive at her home I\'m completely drenched and frozen
I get to the step this is where I froze last time but not now
I raise my hand to the door to knock
There\'s a bright flash and a loud pop, lightning?
No couldn’t be it wasn\'t loud or bright enough
Besides it looks like it came from inside
I hit the doorbell frantically with the one hand, the other pounds on the door
I try for what seems like an eternity I reach for the door knob
I twist and the door slides open
I call her name as I cross the threshold there\'s no answer not even protest
I throw open every door I see hoping to find her and finally I do
She’s lying on the floor, revolver in hand; my heart stops
I drop to her side tears already pouring from my eyes, the hole in her temple, so tiny
I brush the hair from her flawless face, her eyes staring past me
I press my lips to her still warm lips, sliding the revolver from her hand
I press the barrel to my temple, pulling the hammer back, everything goes black
