Descend Into Darkness
Nathan
sneaked down the deserted street. A
dark shadow slipped around a corner, making the road seem eerily empty.style=-spa-spacerun: yes\"> Clutching a small silver dagger in one hand,
Nathan was ready to strike out at any time.
Adrenaline pumped through his body as the shadow showed itself, forming
into a very solid shape. One flicker,
and it was gone again. ‘Damn, he’s
fast.’ Nathan thought to himself and ran to catch up with the fleeting phantom.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
Nathan was
trained to do this, and he was very good at his job, some say the best.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> His face lit up into a snare, Nathan threw
the dagger, seemingly, into thin air.
Quickly drawing a long knife from the hidden sheath beneath his jacket,
he prepared for the next attack. A loud
wail echoed through the night. The
target has been hit. Nathan slowly
walked up to the dark object, curled into a ball.yes\"> He could see dark blood welding up on the cracks of the
pavement. A minor cry of pain escaped
from the target’s lips.
“You may
have killed me tonight, but more will come.
You can’t stop them all hunter.”
Blood dripped from the coughing lips.
Nathan could see the small fangs in the moonlight.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Dark eyes stared at Nathan in hatred before
sinking into a level of dimness, marking the leaving of the soul from the
body. It was dead.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> And it was a relief too, because this one
was much more powerful than the others.
Never had Nathan hunted one with so much agility and cunning.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> More than once with the fight that Nathan
had thought that he was going to lose the battle.yes\"> Luck was on his side tonight.
The
encounter left the other dead, but Nathan did not escape unharmed.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> A deep gash ran down his left arm, from
shoulder all the way down to the elbow.
He was going to need stitches for that.
Small scratches, one on his cheek and two more on the curve of his neck
told how close the vampire came to killing him.yes\"> It took one whole hour of running and battling to catch that
vampire off guard. Sighing in exhaustion,
Nathan began heading home, ignoring his bleeding arm.yes\"> The sun was almost up, brightness looming on the horizon,
threatening to spill over the rim.
Silent steps, each carefully
planted on the ground came up behind Nathan.
But the shadows gave him away.
Nathan brought his weapon up, and deflected the attack.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Turning to face the attacker, Nathan didn’t
have enough time to stop another attack.
A hand grabbed his wrists, knocking his knife away.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> ‘Shit.’
Nathan used his free hand to pull out another blade, but the injury
dramatically slowed his speed, and he found himself pinned by the monster in
front of him. If Nathan weren’t so
disciplined, he would’ve started panicking.
The first rule of being a hunter is never let a vampire get this close,
and the second is never lose your weapon.
And Nathan had broken both rules.
“Your blood is sweet, hunter,” Blue
eyes stared into Nathan’s green ones as the vampire lick the small wound on
Nathan’s face. “I’ve never tasted
someone as sweet as you. And so pretty
too.” The blue eyes looked into every
feature of Nathan’s face, taking in all the details.yes\"> “I will remember you.” As
fast as the vampire came, he was gone.
Nathan was left confused as
hell. A vampire never leaves when faced
with a kill, especially since he had the upper hand.yes\"> ‘Today must be my lucky day.’
Free from the vampire’s grasp, Nathan picked up the knife he dropped and
headed home once again. Unconsciously,
Nathan touched his fingers to his face, where the vampire had tasted him.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Another thought crept into his mind, ‘Why
did he let me go?’ style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> an>
Short Chapter, but promises of more
