Chapter 1

Avae Eves: The Blood
Slave

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Darkness, that is where I
thrive. The shadows, hunting, seeking
those who have hurt me the most, never thinking that my world would soon be
changed. I am a hunter of all those who
live in the darkness, in the night. My
purpose in life is to destroy them, to remove them from the face of the planet.

It was a
week ago that it happened. I was
walking by the waterfront, the beautiful water shimmering in the
moonlight. My blade reflected the light
as well, sending a glimmer across the pavement as my boots clicked softly on
the hard ground. Listening closely, I
focused on my surroundings, waiting for a single sound that was out of place in
the cold night.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Well, well, well, what have we
here?” A soft voice said from behind me.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Stopping, I whirled around quickly,
my braid hitting me in the face. I had
never seen him before. His skin was
nearly white, his eyes an icy blue. The
black of his hair made him look even paler, “Who are you?” I asked, readying my
blade.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He smiled at me sweetly, showing his
even pearly whites, “I apologize.” He said softly with a short bow.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> His voice had a strange accent to it, one
that I couldn’t place, “My name is Divan.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I narrowed my eyes as I realized who
he was. I had heard about him, his name
was floating around in the underground circles.yes\"> He was vicious and unpredictable, as well as extremely powerful,
“What is it that you want?” I asked, trying to get out of fighting him.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I knew I couldn’t win if it came down to
that so I would attempt to get out of it as diplomatically as possible.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> His smile widened, showing a hint of
fang, “I have heard so much about you Miss Eves.” He slowly began to approach
me, “I just had to meet you.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I raised an eyebrow, “So tell me
something.” I said, taking a step back, “What is it that you’ve heard, if you
don’t mind my asking?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Stopping, he chuckled softly, “So
much my dear hunter, so very much. Too
much to tell you in one sitting.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I can see where this is going.” I
mumbled.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Oh, can you now?” He said, his eyes
brightening, “That is truly excellent my dear.
It saves me the time of asking you, requesting you, to come with me.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I raised an eyebrow, “I am sorry but
I cannot go with you. I don’t really
know you and I don’t know what your intentions are.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Oh, but I insist.” He said,
continuing his approach.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I shook my head, “I’m sorry Divan,
but I just can’t do that. There are
things that I need to do.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Not tonight there’s not.” He smiled
sweetly, “Tonight there’s only you and I.
No one will disturb us and we have all the time in the world.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “What makes you so sure?” I asked,
walking backwards, away from him.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “That.” He said, pointing over my
shoulder.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I wouldn’t look, I was sure that it
was a ploy to catch me off guard. I was
wrong, I ran into something solid, something that shouldn’t have been
there. Strong arms were suddenly
wrapped around me; one hand grabbed my wrist, forcing me to drop my
weapon. Divan made his final approach;
he walked so that he was standing in front of me.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I was serious when I said that you
would come with me.” He smiled again as he ran his fingertips down my cheek,
“You’re very beautiful Miss Eves.
Beautiful and powerful.” I tried to struggle out of my captor’s grasp,
“Hush, hush, hush. No point in
resisting my dear, it will do you no good.
Come, we’re wasting time.” He said before turning and motioning for my
captor to bring me. I continued to
struggle as I was carried away, “Knher her out.” He demanded, “No point in
wasting your energy and my patience.” He growled.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> In a single instant I knew no
more. Darkness closed in around me,
suffocating darkness. I couldn’t see, I
couldn’t breath, I couldn’t feel.
Nothing seemed real anymore. I
was falling into the abyss, thinking that I would never return.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I was wrong, dead wrong.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Pain is what drove me from the comforting
darkness, sharp stings across my face, forcing me to awaken.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I’m sorry Miss Eves but it’s nearly
morning. You’ll have to sleep with me
tonight.” Divan said with a wicked smile as I opened my eyes to see him
standing over me.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I shook my head and tried to sit up
but my head was spinning. Slowly he
crawled into the cramped space I found myself in when I awakened.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> As he drew gaingainst him and pulled the lid
closed I realized that I was in a coffin.
I began to panic but he held me still.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Hush Miss Eves.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Be still.
Sleep ist yot your poor body needs.” He said softly, “Relax.” His words
held so much power. He was right, I was
tired, “Rest now, sleep will come soon after that.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He was right; I soon fell back into
oblivion. Quiet, calming, darkness was
all I felt, or could feel. What
awakened me the next night I will never forget.yes\"> I had, somehow, slept quite soundly through the entire day.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Pain awakened me, pain from my throat.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I had known what he was from the beginning,
hadn’t even wanted to accompany him, but none of that prepared me for what
happened that morning. My eyes snapped
open and I pulled away. Hot blood
trickled down my neck, forcing me to realize what he had done.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “You’re delicious Miss Eves.” He
said, lapping at my throat, “I could just do what I eventually intend to do now
or we can talk for the next day or so, it’s your choice.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I’m in a rather giving mood today so the
final decision is yours.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I have a better idea, how about you
just let me go and we forget that any of this ever happened.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He chuckled quietly, “Or I could
just sell you in the underground, make a profit off you.” I raised an eyebrow
and shivered as he ran his tongue over the wounds, circling them, caressing
them, “I have a better idea though.” He paused, “I believe that I shall make
you my blood slave instead. I don’t
believe that I could go without your taste if I sold you, although I would get
over it I don’t really want to. It’s
been a long time since I’ve fed from a hunter with the power that you have.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “And if I don’t agree?style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> What then?” I asked as his arms tightened
slightly around me. His desire for me
was almost suffocating.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I don’t want to think about that,
hunter.” He said softly, “That just isn’t a thing to dwell on.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Make your choice hunter.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> There isn’t much time left before I make the
decision myself.” I was silent wouldn’t say a word as I attempted to figure out
how to get away from this man. A few
minutes later he spoke, “Too late darling.
Now it’s up to me what happens.” I could feel him smile as he sucked on
my throat, “I believe that I shall keep you, hunter.yes\"> You shall become my blood slave.” I shook my head as he slowly
got out of the coffin. Quickly I
hoisted myself out after him, determined to find some way of escape, “I
wouldn’t bother trying to go anywhere.” He said, his back to me, “There’s only
one way out and it’s locked, I have the only key.yes\"> Why don’t you make yourself comfortable while I prepare?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I scowled but looked for a door
anyway, “What do you mean prepare?” I asked, feeling along the walls for a
switch, anything that could be of use.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “For the procedure that will make
you my slave.” He said simply.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I didn’t bother looking at him to
see what he was doing; I was too busy looking for something that I could use,
“So tell me something, where do you keep this key?” I asked, looking at the
door. There was no place to put a key
that I could see and I was now curious, besides I wanted out.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He chuckled softly, “Sown own and
keep your mouth shut.” He growled, his voice losing that kindness that it had
once held. Sitting down in one of the
many random chairs I glared at the floor.
A few minutes later he approached, “Look at me slave.” He ordered, his
voice short, cruel. I didn’t do as he
said, wouldn’t do it, “I said look at me.” He growled, grabbing my braid and
pulling back hard.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I found myself gazing into his icy
eyes, “What do you want from me?” I asked in defiance.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Silence.” He growled, his hand
stinging across my face, “Avae, you will silence yourself or I shall do it for
you and if that happens you won’t get to see what happens next, you’ll only get
to feel it.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I don’t have to do as you say, you
can’t tell me what to do you son of a bitch!” I growled, causing him to pull
harder on my hair.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Fine, have it your way.” He said
with a wicked smile and a shrug.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Slowly he bent towards me.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I moved quickly and, balling my hand into a
fist, backhanded him. His head whip
lashed to the side but he didn’t release his hold on my hair, instead he
retaliated with the same attack I used on him.
Ignoring the pain I grabbed onto his throat and began to squeeze.style=\"mso-spaceryes\yes\"> Even though I knew it wouldn’t do me any
good I fought against him with all my might.
His fist made contact with my face once again.yes\"> I forced myself to stay conscious and lashed out with my foot,
making contact with his groin. spanspan>Releasing my hair he fell back, holding onto his manhood.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “You bitch.” He spat, then he began
to chuckle quietly, “You will make a perfect blood slave.” Carefully he got to
his feet, “There’s no escape for you hunter.
There’s no way for you to get out.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I pulled on the door handle, hoping
that it would open, it didn’t. Turning
quickly I glared at him, “Let me go.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He shook his head, “No, I think
not. You’re going to remain right here
until such time as I can perform the process.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I backed away from him as he
advanced upon me. Hitting the corner I
had no place left to go. As I looked at
him, eyes wide in fear, I noticed the glint of a hypodermic needle in his
hand. My eyes grew wider, I didn’t know
what he meant to do with it but I didn’t want to find out either.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> He moved quickly, I didn’t even have time to
react before the needle was in. Letting
out a cry of surprise I kicked him once again in the nether region.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> He doubled over in pain but not before
pushing the plunger down. I stumbled
forward before hitting the ground next to where he was kneeling.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> The only thing I remember after that is
pain. I could feel heat flowing through
my body, burning my flesh. I could feel
a stirring deep down inside. I couldn’t
react, couldn’t scream. All I could do
is feel every little ounce of pain within my body.yes\"> When I finally awakened I was wrapped in white bandages, they
were soaked with blood, my blood. I
felt sick, weak, like I was dieing.
Opening my eyes I looked out to see Divan sitting next to me.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> As I tried to reach towards him so that I
could wrap my hands around his throat my body was racked with pain.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Letting out a low moan I rolled over onto my
side and threw-up.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He chuckled softly at my show, “Well
slave, I see that you’ve awakened.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I have a name Divan.” I said
softly, “I am not your slave.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He smiled, “I know that slave.” He
growled, “Yes Avae, I know your name but it is my choice as to whether or not I
call you that. You see, in time you may
earn your name but for now you are nothing more than my slave.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “What have you done to me?” I asked
softly, looking at my bandaged hands, “Answer me Divan.” I hissed.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He chuckled, “Whatever do you mean,
slave?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “You know exactly what I mean.”
Divan just looked at me with his strange eyes, “Your silence is golden, that
just tells me everything I need to know.” I said sarcastically.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> He drew his hand back as if to hit me, I looked
up at him in defiance, “You can’t do it.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Proving me wrong he hit me hard
across the face, “Silence slave. Your
defiance is unbefitting of one such as you.” He sneered, “You are my blood
slave, nothing more, nothing less, and you will behave as such.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Scowling I looked at him, “Tell me
something then, how the hell do you want me to behave?style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I don’t feel any different and unless you
tell me otherwise I will continue to attempt escape.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “You may not feel different now but
once you heal you shall feel very different.” Smiling he gently brushed a hand
down my face, it stung as it caressed my wounds, “Your beauty will become more
prominent, you shall become stronger as well, but only once you have fully
healed. Your body must adjust to the
changes that I forced upon it.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Trying to get up so that I might
look around I threw-up again, “When will this end?” I moaned.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Once you drink from me.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> That is what shall bind us together but it
must be done willingly. Once you’ve
decided to feed you shall be released from this pain, this sickness.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I shook my head, “No.” I croaked, “I
will not.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Have it your way.” He said with a
shrug, “I’m going out for a little bit, you’ll be safe here so don’t worry
about it.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I watched as he unlocked the door
and walked out. Moanin pin pain I
closed my eyes to await his return.
Lying on a table wasn’t very comfortable but I didn’t care, I didn’t
feel well, my body ached. I wondered
what I looked like but I couldn’t move to see myself.yes\"> Closing my eyes I attempted to sleep, at least rest, but I
couldn’t, I couldn’t even get my body to relax.yes\"> It felt like forever before he came back and with him was a young
man. He was handsome with shoulder
length dark chocolate hair and almost black eyes.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Is this her?style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Your new soon to be blood slave?” The
newcomer asked, looking me over.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Yeah, she’s the ex-hunter.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> As soon as she decides to feed she’ll be
fine but thus far she has been less than willing to accept her only option.”
Divan said with a wicked smile, “I have all the time in the world to wait, she
does not on the other hand. I may have
to force her into it but that would strip her of a small portion of her
intellect, I don’t really wish to lose that.” He sighed, “I just may have to
though. Cooperation isn’t really one of
her strong points.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I admire her will, no one’s held
out against you before. Is that why you
wanted her as your slave?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Divan nodded, “Yes, that is exactly
the reason Marcus.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Marcus smiled, “Why don’t you tell
her what happened to the last one you tried to take as your blood slave, maybe
that would help her to concede?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Divan shrugged, “I suppose I could
do that. If she doesn’t agree within
the hour I’ll tell her what happened.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I think it would do her some
good. Might change her way of thinking
from that of a hunter to that of a slave.
She’ll have it a lot better once this is complete, much better than she
did hunting us. She’ll be safer too.”
He chuckled softly, “I could tell her some stories of what I’ve done to hunters
but that might just piss her off, no, you should just tell herut yut your
previous blood slave and what happened to her when she wouldn’t agree to feed
from you. That wasn’t a very pretty
sight, I remember you calling me in to watch.” He shivered, “I remember all too
well.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Divan chuckled, “That was quite fun,
wasn’t it?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> He shook his head, “No, I didn’t
enjoy it.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Divan laughed long and hard, “I
wonder if you would enjoy it now?
You’ve lost all of your past life, unlike when you saw it the first
time. How many years ago was that? style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Two hundred, three hundred, when was it?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Marcus bowed his head, his debrowbrown hair falling over his face, “Two hundred and fifty years to be exact.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “It has been a long time since I’ve
had a worthy blood slave, since I’ve had one at all.” Divan said, deep in
memories. He shook his head, “But that
was so very long ago, the past is all behind us.” He seemed to harden before my
eyes, “Well slave, have you decided to relent or do I have to tell you what
happened?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I shook my head and retched again
causing the two of them to laugh, “You’re foolish slave.” Marcus said softly,
“Very foolish indeed. Why don’t you
tell her what happened now?”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Divan smiled and ran a hand through
his hair, “Very well, I don’t think that she really wants to hear about it but
if I must then I must.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I shook my head again, causing me to
hurl once more, “Please, no.” I croaked.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Just so you know that if you keep
moving around you’re goingdie die a very slow, very horrible death.” Marcus
said, taking a seat in one of the many chairs and pulling out a book from a bag
I hadn’t noticed him carrying, “You tell your story, I’m going to read.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> With that Marcus dove into his book
and Divan began recounting the tale of his previous would be blood slave, “She
was a lot like you, a hunter too. She
refused and it cost her dearly. It was
my first time making a blood slave and she refused to go into it willingly so I
attempted to force her into it. Well,
the way I did it was the same way that it would be done if she was
willing. Her death was slow,
painful. She lay there, bleeding.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Blood poured from her mouth and all I could
do was watch. Marcus was there as well,
too young to have left behind his emotions from human life.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I watched her die and will watch you as
well. You do not wish to die that way,
do you? Won>Wouldn’t you rather just become
my blood slave? Your life would be
quite different than it is now and you would be able to live.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
It’s your choice and I suggest that you make
the correct one. I would hate to see
your beauty go to waste.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I was silent for a moment, “Very
well, do what you must, just make it end.” I whispered.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Divan smiled down at me and quickly
sank his teeth into his wrist. I
watched in horror as the gapingnd wnd was lowered to my cracked lips, “Drink.”
He whispered softly, “Drink freely from my unending font.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I swallowed it down willingly,
wanting the pain to end. As I drank
Marcus put down his book and walked over to stand next to Divan.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> The two of them watched as I swallowed the
rich blood from Divan’s body. I could
feel a stirring deep inside, worse yet I could feel my mind twisting, my body
felt as though it were burning.
Twisting away from him and his blood I rolled over onto my side and
retched.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I see your story worked, she
decided to become your slave willingly, how wonderful.” Marcus said softly, his
voice light, almost jovial, “I knew she couldn’t resist your charms.” He
laughed then, long and hard.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Get some rest slave, I’ll be back
later to remove your bandages.” Divan said, turning toward the door, “Let’s go
Marcus.” With that the two of them left.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Catching my breath I slowly pushed
myself so that I was sitting up.
Finally I was able to look at myself.
The entirety of my body was wrapped in bloodied white bandages.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Slowly I began to unwrap my left hand, the
bandages fell away easily to reveal unblemished skin beneath.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> My skin had taken on a milky white hue; it
was nearly as pale as Divan’s flesh. I
gasped as I looked at my shaking hand.
There was not a scratch, not a blemish upon my perfect skin.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I was so enamored with my new found body
that I didn’t hear the door open, nor did I hear the footfalls behind me.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Slowly I continued to unwrap my arm.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> As I was about to reach my elbow I felt
strong hands tear the bandages from my body in one fell swoop, causing me to
fall backward into my assailant.
Looking up I saw Divan’s smiling face.
I scowled up at him and pushed myself away.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Well slave, it looks like we need
to get you some clothing.” He said with a quiet laugh as he allowed the bandages
to fall from his hands. My eyes grew
wide and I tried to cover myself with my hands.yes\"> My face must have turned three shades of red.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Sliding off the table I attempted to hide
myself from view, from his roving eyes, “Well slave, why don’t you come with
me? We can get you something to cover
up with.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “I think I’ll just stay right here
until you get me something.” I mumbled, rolling myself into a ball so that no
one could see me.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Get up slave.” He said, his voice
quiet and controlled, it held so much power.
I found myself reacting before I could stop myself.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Finding myself on my feet before him I
looked down at the ground, ashamed, “Look at me slave, you have nothing to be
ashamed of. You belong to me; every
piece of you is mine. Do not be afraid
of me, you are my blood slave and we are bonded together by blood.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Come now, we’re wasting time.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> You could have been clothed by now.”

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> I looked into his eyes and saw
nothing, he didn’t desire my body, his eyes weren’t devouring my features he
was merely looking at me, into my eyes, meeting my gaze.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Gently he took my arm and led me to what was
apparently a solid wall. Pressing his
hand against it I found that I was wrong; it swung open to reveal a large
bedroom.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “This shall be your room when I find
that you are worthy enough to have it.
You may remain here for now so that you may bathe and dress if you so
choose. I shall be in the other
room. Get some rest, I’ll be back to
retrieve you before sunrise.” With that he left me, the wall closing behind
him.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Sitting down on the edge of the bed
I began to cry. I felt lost, confused,
and alone. There was nothing I could do
to escape; I was enthralled by this creature.
He held me in his spell and there was nothing I could do about it.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> What had I gotten myself into by agreeing to
drink his blood? After an hour I got up
slowly and walked over to the only door I saw, it opened into a well-stocked
closet. Carefully sifting through it I
pulled out a black long sleeved shirt and a pair of black slacks.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Quickly I got dressed and hid myself between
the bed and the wall, curling myself into a ball so that I couldn’t be seen, or
at least hoped that I couldn’t. I could
feel the approach of morning, feel it like it was crawling toward me, creeping
death. I shuddered at the thought and
huddled closer to the wall. That was
when I heard the wall swing open.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> “Come slave, it’s time for us to
sleep, unless of course you would rather remain here where the sun might hit
your now overly sensitive skin. In a
few years you will once again be able to set foot in the sun but for now you
must sleep with me.” He said softly from the door.yes\"> Slowly I got to my feet.
Glaring at him I approached, “I would have chosen something else for you
to wear but I suppose that this will suffice for now.” He said, taking my hand
and walking me out of the room.

style=\'mso-tab-count:1\'> Together we got into the
coffin. As I closed my eyes and
prepared for sleep I felt a sharp sting as his teeth sank into my skin.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Letting out a cry of pain and surprise my
eyes snapped open and I tried to fight him off, “No.” I cried out softly.

“Mmm, you
are delicious my slave.” He whispered as he withdrew from my throat.
