End of the Dream
The velvet tears
of the dying light kissed his brow.
Death
was upon him and
he welcomed her embrace,
as he had that of her,
so long ago... so, so long now.
The cold was setting in,
movements halted
by its ebony kiss.
Time,
what was time now?
At that last one second
time
stretched on forever
and it did not matter...
Overhead the last
of them still fought,
though it was over,
in fact had always been over.
Why had they dreamed?
oh
but how sweet it had once been,
the sun on the meadow asuds uds wheeled over head and larks sang to the river tian.
The dream had been whispered then,
in the breeze
and in the light of the distant sun.
They had all heard it
and it filled them...
And now,
well
now was the waking... the end
of the dream
When stark reality slapped the face
and fate scorned, with laughter
in eye...
As the last of them
fell, like stars
that the heavens would no longer hold... he knew then
what he should have always known..
The dream
would die.
