Heart and Soul

Ok, my first shot at poetry. *Crosses fingers and hopes it will be good*

Heart and Soul

My feet take me quickly
Through the burnt, barren,
And blood stained battleground
Of this sin
This never-ending era

Why don’t you believe in me?
I’ll make you see!
But they stay cold to me
As cool and ridged as alabaster stone
I keep moving on
No one can hold me back

“Free, free, free!”
Someone whispers
The last words upon dieing lips
Why do you believe in him?
He is as much of a warrior as I
But you don’t believe in me
I’ll make you see!

“Our savior”, “Great battle angel!”
These are some words you praised this dead man with
Words thrown my way are not so heroic
“The Devils son”, “You murder of men!”
Why do you scorn me so?
How am I any different than these other soldiers were?

Those words scar my heart
Like coals from the hearth
Why don’t you believe in me?
How can I make you see my worth?

My mortal body quakes
I hear the thunder rumble
Like thousands of iron horses in the rolling clouds
I am in myself a new man
Only to be myself for me and no one else
I realize to late
Heart don’t fail me now!

My heart is crystal
Never unscathed or unblemished
Why won’t you understand?

The sands of time are slipping away from my grasp
It’s too late
My testimony shall remain incomplete
A haunted spirit shall I become
I then slip into the darkness
For all eternity

Well, was that ok? I\'m probly not the next Longfellow, but I gave it my best shot! //_^
