The Answer

The flashing of silver caught my eye,
The sun had danced off it’s shiny surface.
I glance at it, through half lidded eyes.
The answer to my silly question, lay on the cold kitchen table.
My thoughts are jumbled.
I run my hands under the sink,
Allowing chilled water to hit my them…
Think…
I must think…
But I can’t,
I never can.
My hand strays from the sink and to my brown hair,
Slipping cold fingers through loose strands.
I glance at it again…
The answer….
My stiff legs move towards it.
As I look at the choice of my demise…
My demise?
No…
My answer…
To what?
Think…
My slender fingers find their place in my hair again,
As frigid legs continue their journey…
To the table…
I reach forward and snatch it into my hand.
The room is spinning,
My thoughts swirling,
And I haven’t done anything,
But touched it.
I fall to my knees…
Pale fingers trace the surface of the sharp blade.
A wicked smile graces my lips,
As blood seeps through a small cut.
The answer to illogical questions…
Is what I search.
I take the blade, the shimmering beautiful blade,
And slice upwards my left arm.
Pain…
No…
I stare at the blood.
Maybe a little…pain…
Life is so fragile…
Humans are so weak…
The skin of a person is ripped so easily…
Deeper…
It goes,
This time into my chest…
I release a hoarse cry…
But what is pain…
Surely this can’t be it…
I fall back onto the now crimson tile…
This will end…
As all ‘pain’ does,
I will fade into something more permanent…
But still the question lies on the tip of my mind…
Will someone save me…?
