No One Looked
Far away, hidden from sight, a teenager sits alone in a dark and barren room. Tears roll silently down her cheeks. She sits pressed against a wall, her entire body shaking. Her legs are drawn tightly against her chest with her arms wrapped around them. Her face is buried against her knees; muffled heart-broken sobs escaping from time to time.
Next to her lays a dagger, glinting in the pale light that filtered in froe moe moon outside. The blade is stained. Dark crimson blood congealing on the steel. She stands precariously. Her robes are stuck against her, also stained with blood and sweat. From the corner she lifts a small wooden bowl. Unsteadily she makes her way to the other wall. She dips her fingers into the dark liquid that swirls in the vessel. It drips from her fingers as she lifts them and presses them to the wall, slowly dragging them up and down. Time and again redip her her fingers as the room begins to tilt, her legs wanting to give out. She has to finish. They would ask why. She has to tell them. She has to.
Leaning back looking up she smiles faintly and then falls backwards. Her eyes are still open, gazing upon what she has written. Such a simple thing. Reflected in her eyes the message shone.
NOBODY EVER SAW ME. NO ONE LOOKED.
