Teddy

We were once little kids rushing round
But you couldn\'t stop
I grew into a respectful youth
You got brought home by a cop.

Our parents didn\'t cope
Dad left when you were nine
All Mum was could do was hope
That one day you\'d be fine.

You were always my best friend
Even when you broke my cheek
I was the one who stood up for you
When people called you a freak.

You got into more trouble
Than I could get you out
You swore to me that you\'d be fine
but I shook my head in doubt.

But you went to prison
for dealing drugs, Im told
Those months really changed you
I stayed young while you got old.

But you finally had a reason
They called it ADD
They would give you Ritalin
And you would become just like me.

It didn\'t make a difference
You still got in trouble heaps
You were playing a childish game
Everyone else played for keeps.

You havent been around for years
Your visits were a lie
And if I never see you,
I love you Teddy, Goodbye.
