Aversion
Hello there, and welcome to my novel!
There are several things I need to express before you read on any further. First thing’s first – this novel is the work produced by me in a challenge known as NaNoWriMo – a month-long writing challenge that takes place in the month of November. The challenge posed is to write a 50,000-word novel in the month of November. The novel I have written, titled Aversion, is the product of my participation in NaNoWriMo. It is 52,269 words (according to MS Word), and I will be the first to admit that it is a piece of crap. However, the whole point of NaNoWriMo is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days – quantity being more important that quality. I am proud to have a fied wed work, even though it is not exactly great. Or even good. But that’s besides the point.
The novel (or novella for technical purposes) is a story which involves very overdeveloped minor characters, underdeveloped major characters, a ton of gratuitous sex scenes, and a conflict which is introduced and resolved in the last 5000 or so words. The story was never outlined nor planned, and the characters did whatever they felt like doing on the days they were written. Aversion scoffs any planning and most constructive approaches to writing a novel.
So why would I even bother posting it? Because I am ballsy and proud that I finished it. Aversion is not exactly the definitive classic novel of the 21st century, but it does have some really interesting things.
If you would like to comment on the novel, feel free – but I ask you keep the points which I’ve addressed in this introduction in respect to your comments. I take any and all critique in the most constructive way that I can, and I do appreciate it. I’m not making any money whatsoever from this, so feedback is like gold to me.
The work posted here is completely unedited and untouched. I know it has errors, both in grammar, characterization and in construction. Again, quantity not quality.
Now onto the technicalities:
Disclaimer – Character names and events in this work are original and fictional; if non-fictional names exist or events have occurred, they are pure coincidence. And also really freaky.
Warnings – This novel contains explicit sex scenes, character death by murder, offensive language and racial slurs. It is rated NC-17, and unfortunately, it is well deserving of this rating.
Copyright information – all characters involved in this novel are copyrighted to me, Slappy. Infringement of this copyright is unlawful and perjury.
A final note – The novel posted here is a very, very minor representation of the work which I may one day re-write, edit, and have published. It’s raw and pure, and the very first thing I’ve started and finished on a novel-length scale.
If you’ve gotten this far, you either really dig introductions or you want to read this story. In either case, sit back, relax, and enjoy the 52,269-word novel Aversion, written in 20 days by me, Slappy.
