Life
By Yami Kitsune
A little boy about five years old sat on the floor in front of the TV watching his cartoons. He could hear his parents fighting in the kitchen again. They seemed to be doing that a lot lately, and the young boy didn\'t like it. Neither of them got mad at him, or hit him. They just didn\'t seem to be able to stand each other.
The small boy jumped when he heard something crash and break in the kitchen. The boy turned to see his mother come walking out looking really upset. She walked to the door and put on her shoes, grabbing her coat she headed for the door. The boy stood up and ran over to her.
\"Mommy! Where are you going? Can I come to?\" The small boy asked. His mother looked down at him sadly and shook her head.
\"I am sorry Isawa, but you can\'t come with me this time.\" She said and knelt down giving him a hug. \"I want to you to be good for you father, and do what he says.\" She said. Isawa nodded and watched as his mother smiled sadly at him and stood up turning and leaving. Isawa stood there with the door open and watched his mother walk over to her car and get in. It was just starting to snow out as his mother pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street. Isawa didn\'t know that would be the last time he would see his mother for a very long time.
\"Close that door Isawa! Were not trying to heat the outside!\" His father yelled. Isawa stepped back and closed the door. He went into the kitchen. His father was cleaning up the glass on the floor when he came in.
\"Watch where you step Isawa, the last thing I want to do now it take you to the hospital because you got glass stuck in your foot.\" His father said. Isawa nodded and stayed by the door until his father had finished.
\"Daddy, where did mommy go?\" Isawa asked.
\"She went away for a while.\" His father said but didn\'t look at him.
\"When will she be back?\" Isawa asked wondering why his mother would leave.
\"Go sit down in the living room Isawa, I think we should talk.\" His father said. Isawa nodded and ran back into the living room. He climbed up on the couch and waited for his father.
Isawa\'s father stayed in the kitchen for a little longer to make sure he had gotten all the glass off the floor, and to prepare himself for what he was about to tell his son. He could only hope that he would be able to under stand. He walked into the living room and saw Isawa on the couch watching cartoons as he waited for him. He walked over and sat on the couch picking up the remote and turning the TV off.
\"Isawa, son. Things are going to be different around here for a while...\" He said. Isawa looked at him confused wondering what his father was talking about.
\"Why daddy? Why are things going to be...Different?\" (Yes it is supposed to be miss spelt!)
\"We have to learn to do things for our selves now. Because mommy isn\'t going to be here to help us.\"
\"Where did mommy go?\"
\"She had to go away Isawa. And, she wont be coming back.\" His father said gently. He watched as Isawa\'s eyes went wide and filled with tears.
\"Why? Why won\'t she be coming back daddy?! Doesn\'t she love us any more? If it\'s something I did I\'m sorry!\" Isawa cried. His father pulled Isawa onto his lap and held him close.
\"No Isawa, it was nothing you did, you have nothing to be sorry for.\" His father said as he rocked the crying boy. \"Mommy just couldn\'t handle being here any more. You will understand when you are older.\" He said and held Isawa until he had cried himself to sleep. His father picked him up and brought him into his room and tucked him into bed.
\"Goon night son, tomorrow is going to be a very long day.\" He said and left the room. He went back into the kitchen to get something to drink, when the phone rang. Sighing he walked over and picked up.
\"Moshi, moshi. Ishtar residences, Kunisada speaking.\"
{Ishtar-san, just the man I was looking for.} The voice on the other line said. Kunisada sighed.
\"Is there something you wanted Takatori-sama?\" He asked. (he I just HAD to use that last name. I was being lazy and couldn\'t think of any others at the time -_-\') Kunisada hated it when his boss called, it always meant he would have to do more traveling for the company he worked for.
{I need you to go to Shinjuku for me. I have a business partner there I need you to meet with.}Takatori said.
\"Fine, when do I need to be there?\" Kunisada asked.
{By next week.}
\"I will see what I can do Takatori-sama. You I am having family troubles and I don\'t know if there will be any one to watch Isawa for me.} Kunisada explained. \"But I will do my best sir.\" Kunisada said.
{Splendid, call me back with your answer. Good evening Ishtar-san.} Takatori said and hung up. Kunisada sighed and went into the kitchen to get a beer. Things were going to be hard for a very long time.
~*Three years later*~
Isawa walked into the house and dropped his backpack on the floor. He didn\'t bother announcing he was home, because his father was off on another business trip. And his uncle, who he always stayed with when his father was away, had passed out drunk in the living room chair. Isawa sighed; he didn\'t know why his father just didn\'t leave him alone. His uncle was always passed out because he drank to much, or he was never home.
Isawa walked into the living room and turned off the TV and looked at his uncle. He shook his head and started to clean up the bottles that were scattered everywhere. His father was supposed to be home that night and Isawa didn\'t want his father to come home to a house filled with beer bottles.
It took him only half an hour to pick up the mess his uncle made. He walked back into the hallway and grabbed his backpack. He had a lot of homework for that night, and needed to get it done. He was about to head up stairs to start it when the phone rang. Isawa heard his uncle yell and fall out of the chair. It was kind of funny to Isawa when he thought about it; he had tried many times before to wake up his uncle when he had passed out. But whenever the phone rang he would be up and out of that chair in no time.
Isawa looked into the living room and smiled when his uncle stumbled to his feet and grabbed the phone that was buried half way in the couch.
\"\"ello?\" He asked and let out a loud yawn.
{Matsuya Ishtar! Were you asleep again!?} Matsuya was instantly awake when he heard his brother\'s voice.
\"Hey Kunisada, you coming back tonight or what?\" That got Isawa\'s attention and he walked into the living room. His uncle smiled at him.
{No, I\'m afraid not. I have to stay here another week before my boss will let me come home.} Kunisada sighed.
\"Oh, the kid will be sad to hear that bro. Should I tell him? Or would you like tlk tlk to him?\" Matsuya asked.
{Let me talk to him, if he\'s not busy.}
\"He\'s not, he is standing right here waiting for me to stop hogging the phone.\" Matsuya said. Kunisada chuckled at that.
{All right then, let me talk to him.}Matsuya nodded even though his brother couldn\'t see him, and he handed the phone to Isawa.
\"Your dad would like to spat yat you.\" Matsuya said. Isawa smiled he always liked the way his uncle said \'he wants to talk to you\' it was a little less boring. Isawa took the phone from his uncle.
\"Hi dad!\" He said.
{Hey Isawa. I hope you are being good for your uncle?} He asked.
\"I am dad.\"
{That\'s good to here. So, got any girlfriends I need to know about?} His father teased.
\"Dad! I\'m to young for a girlfriend!\" Isawa yelled into the phone as a blush spread across his cheeks. He glared at Matsuya when he started laughing. Isawa didn\'t find it funny at all.
{All right, all right. Look Isawa, I don\'t have much time to talk right now. The resin I called is, I won\'t be home for another week.} His father said. Isawa\'s face immediately dropped. He had really been looking forward to his dad coming home, but he should have known this would happen. It happened all the time.
\"It\'s alright dad. I have to go start my home work now...would you like to talk to Uncle Matsuya again?\" Isawa asked.
{No, that\'s all right. I love you, and will see you in a week.} Kunisada said and hung up. Isawa sighed and hung up the phone.
\"Hey, don\'t look so depressed. It\'s only another week.\" Matsuya said. Isawa shook his head and put the phone down.
\"It\'s more then that Uncle Matsuya, this week at school we were supposed to bring one of our parents to school...but dad isn\'t going to be back until next week.\" Isawa said.
\"Hey, I could go in his place.\" Matsuya offered.
\"No, it\'s alright. It happened before; I should have known this would happen again. I guess I better get ready for more disappointments in life.\" Isawa said and walked out of the room. Matsuya sighed and sat down in the chair, he felt sorry for Isawa, he knew what it was like not to have a dad around when you needed one.
~*~
Things kept going on like that. Isawa grew to hate his father for leaving him like that all the time. Even though he always came back, it reminded him of the day his mother left. And Isawa hated her for leaving.
Isawa was now 14 years old. Even on his birthday his father couldn\'t make it home. But Isawa was more then surprised when he got a letter from his mother. He opened it quickly.
Dear Isawa
I am sorry I am not there for your birthday. And I am even more sorry I never wrote to you after I left. I hope things have been good for you; things have been a lot better sense I left your father. I have gotten re-married, and am now expecting a new baby. I am thinking of coming back for a visit, and to talk to your father. I would really like it if you came to live with my new husband and me. It would mean a lot to me.
I hope you have a very good birthday.
Love: your mother
Isawa sat there and read it over once, then twice, and a third time just to make sure his eyes weren\'t playing tricks on him. His mother had gotten re-married, and was now expecting a new baby. Isawa glared at the letter and ripped it up. His mother had left him here with his father for all those years, and doesn\'t even write, and when she finally does it is one because she wants her son to come live with her.
Isawa stood up angrily and walked into the hallway where ht hit his shoes on, he opened the door and stomped out. He looked over at the driveway when his uncle pulled up.
\"Hey Isawa! I was just coming to get you so I could take you for a birthday ride!\" Matsuya called from the car. Isawa nodded and ran over to the car and got in. Matsuya smiled at him and pulled out of the driveway only to go speeding down the street. Isawa just sat there not really noticing any thing at the moment; his mind was still on what his mother had written. And because of that he didn\'t realize that his uncle was drinking a beer, and doing 90 MPH down the rode.
\"You seem upthet about thomthing...\" Matsuya said his speech messing up because he was really drunk. Isawa looked over at him and his eyes went wide.
\"Uncle Matsuya why are you drinking?!\" Isawa yelled.
\"Becauthe I alwayth drink when I ith pisthed off at thomeone.\" He said and downed the rest of his beer.
\"Uncle Matsuya please, stop the car. I want to get out.\" Isawa said. He looked back at the road and saw the car was swerving back and forth.
\"You wanths me to thtop? Okayths\" Matsuya said. But instead of stopping his put more pressure on the gas so it was all the way to the floor. Isawa screamed as they pulled onto the main road, running right into traffic. Matsuya was to drunk to realize the eighteen-wheeler to his left until it was too late. The truck hit the car on the driver side at full speed making the car turn over and skid across the rode. Isawa looked at his uncle on the roof of the car, his head cracked open and blood pooling around his head. Isawa was glad he had always been taught to ware a seatbelt, but he could feel a blinding pain in his shoulder.
He looked out the window and saw people surrounding the car. He saw a fire truck pull up along with some cop cars. He could also hear the paramedics, but that was it before every thing went dark.
~*~
Isawa woke up a week later in the hospital. His father was standing next to the bed, and there was a lady behind him. Isawa recognized the lady as one of his father\'s girlfriends.
\"Dad...\" Isawa whispered catching the man\'s attention.
\"Isawa! Your awake!\" Kunisada turned to look at his girlfriend. \"Ikuyo, could you go get the doctor?\" She nodded and left the room.
\"What...what happened dad?\" Isawa asked, the last thing he remembered was yelling at Matsuya to stop the car.
\"You were in a car accident.\" Kunisada said. Isawa\'s eyes went wide as it all came back to him.
\"Uncle Matsuya!\" Isawa yelled as he sat up. \"He was in the car to! Where is he?! Is he alright?\" Isawa asked his eyes wide as he looked around to room trying to see if his uncle was there.
\"Lay back down Isawa, you broke your collarbone in the crash and you still need rest.\" Kunisada said as he made his son lay back down.
\"But...Uncle Matsuya...\"
\"He\'s gone.\" His father said. \"By the time they the door open to get to him, he was already dead. The paramedics said he had died almost instantly.\" Isawa\'s eyes went wide and filled with tears.
\"No...\" He whispered. \"No he can\'t be dead!\" Isawa yelled and pulled away from his father as he tried to make Isawa lay back down again. The doctor came running in to see what the problem was.
\"He\'s not...he can\'t be...\" Isawa cried. Now he had no one he could talk to, no one to under stand him.
\"Isawa, I know how you feel. He was my brother and I am going to miss him to. But you have to let it go, there was nothing, and is nothing, you can do about it.\" Kunisada said. Isawa nodded and lay back down on the bed. The doctor did a few check ups on him before leaving the room.
\"Do you mind telling me what possessed you to get into the car when your uncle was drunk like that?\" Kunisada asked. Isawa looked away.
\"I didn\'t realize he was drunk...\"
\"How could you not realize?!\" His father snapped at him.
\"I was upset okay?!\"
\"That is no excuse Isawa, I am going to go talk to the doctor and find out when I can take you home.\" Kunisada said and left the room. Isawa sighed and rolled over on his side, he was about to go back to sleep when he felt a soft tapping on his shoulder. He looked over and smiled.
\"Kuro!\" Isawa yelled and threw his arms around his friend. Kuro had been one of Isawa\'s only friends sense his mother left. And Isawa had been really upset when Kuro\'s parents made him go back to England.
\"It\'s good to see you sawasawa.\" Kuro chuckled. \"I was hoping to come back and surprise you and hoped we could hang out. But then I find out you got your self put in the hospital.\" Kuro shook his head. \"What am I going to do with you?\"
\"I don\'t know.\" Isawa smiled. \"So what are you doing back in Japan?\" Isawa asked.
\"Well, my parents kicked me out of the house and sent me here to live with my uncle.\" Kuro made a face.
\"Why would they kick you out? What did you do to make them do that?\" Isawa asked.
\"I\'ll tell you later, here is not the place to discus this.\" Kuro smiled. Isawa nodded and lay back on the bed as Kuro sat down in the chair.
\"So what has happened sense I left? Any thing existing?\"
\"I got in a car accident. Does that count?\" Isawa smiled.
\"No, that falls into the category of, \'scary as hell\'. Existing would be...like you getting a girlfriend. Or something like that.\" Kuro said. Isawa shook his head.
\"No, no girlfriends. To tell the truth I don\'t really find any of them attractive...and as for the existing thing....I got a letter form my mom.\" Kuro\'s eyes went wide.
\"Really?! What did it say?!\"
\"That I\'m no longer going to be an only child...she got re-married...\" Isawa said and looked away. \"She said her life has been better sense she left my father, and she wants me to come live with her and her new husband.\" Isawa explained.
\"Are you going to go?\" Kuro asked.
\"Hell no! I wouldn\'t go stay with her if she were the last person on earth! She left my dad and me when I was only five. And then she got re-married and didn\'t even tell me about it until she got pregnant.\" Isawa said and turned away so that Kuro wouldn\'t be able to see the tears in his eyes.
\"Hey man, I know how you feel. But maybe you should consider it? It couldn\'t be much worse then your life right now could it? I mean you would have a mother, and a father. Both of them would have enough time for you...\"
\"No they wouldn\'t. Nothing would change except where I live. They would both be to wrapped up in what the new baby needs.\" Isawa said and hopped Kuro couldn\'t tell he was crying. But Kuro was smarter then that, he noticed the tears on the side of Isawa\'s face. Sighing Kuro stood up and climbed in the bed next to Isawa and wrapped his arms around him.
\"Don\'t cry Isawa-kun, you know how much it upsets me.\" Kuro said and held his friend close. Isawa snuggled up into Kuro\'s arms and sighed. It didn\'t take them long to fall asleep.
~*~
Isawa was released from the hospital that day, and when he got home his father told him something that Isawa never wanted to hear.
\"What?!\" Isawa yelled and jumped off the couch. He looked back and forth between his father and Ikuyo, his father\'s girlfriend. \"What do you mean your getting re-married?!?!\" Isawa yelled.
\"Isawa, sit down!\" His father snapped. \"You don\'t really have a say in what I am aloud to do. I just thought you would like to know.\"
\"Isawa-chan, I know I can never replace your mother, and I know it must hurt to see your father with someone else. But I promise, I will treat you like I would my own son.\" Ikuyo said. Isawa glared at her.
\"I don\'t care. And you\'re right; no one can re-place my mother. Maybe I SHOULD consider the offer she gave me.\" Isawa said and stood up to go to his room.
\"Isawa get back here right now!\" His father yelled at him. \"What offer are you talking about? Is there something I don\'t know?\" Kunisada said as he glared at his son.
\"Yes there is. On my birthday last week, remember? The one you missed because you had to work...oh wait, you might not seeing you haven\'t been there for the past THREE YEARS!\" Isawa yelled angrily at his father and ran out of the room.
\"Isawa Ishtar! Get your ass back here right now! I am not done talking to you!\" Kunisada yelled and was going to go after him but Ikuyo took his hand.
\"Just let him be for a little while. He needs time to think about this, and let it all sink in.\" She said. Kunisada sighed and nodded.
\"So when is your son...Koichi? When is he coming home from his grandmothers? I would really like to meet him.\" Kunisada said. Ikuyo smiled.
\"He is coming home tomorrow. You and Isawa are invited over for dinner tomorrow night.\" She said.
\"You can bet I will be there. And so will Isawa.\"
\"Don\'t force him to do something he doesn\'t want to do.\" Ikuyo said. Kunisada nodded and kissed her.
~*~
The next day Isawa stayed up in his room for most of the day until Kuro came over to cheer him up. Kuro knocked on the door.
\"Isawa-kun, may I come in?\" Kuro asked. The door opened and Isawa moved out of the way to let his friend in.
\"Your dad told me what happened.\" Kuro said as he closed the door and watched Isawa walk back over to his bed and sit down on it. His arm and shoulder were in a sling to keep him from moving it too much.
\"I knew he would. What did he do this time? Ask you to come up here and convince me to do as he says?\" Isawa said not sounding to happy.
\"Well, kinda. He told me to talk to you and see if you have calmed down a bit sense last night.\" Kuro smiled. \"So what happeneDetaDetails man!\" Isawa smiled.
\"Well, he said he was getting re-married in a couple of weeks.\" Isawa said. Kuro\'s eyes went wide.
\"Are you kidding me?! He\'s getting married so soon, after what just happened to you?!\" Kuro almost shouted.
\"Calm down Kuro-kun, that\'s not what got me so mad...\"
\"So why DID you get mad?\" Kuro asked not really understanding Isawa.
\"I don\'t know why...I think what I was mostly mad about was the fact he asked her to marry him, and she is one of the resins Tousama hasn\'t had time for me...\" Isawa sighed and lay back on his bed.
\"Well, it can\'t be all that bad. Can it?\" Kuro said as he lay down next to his friend.
\"I don\'t know. She invited Tousama and me over to her place tonighr dir dinner. Her son is supposed to be coming home and she wants us to meet him.\" Isawa explained.
\"Damn, then I guess going to see \'IT\' at the movies tonight is out?\" Kuro asked. Isawa sighed and nodded.
\"Yep, it is. Unless I can talk my dad into letting me go. And I don\'t think he will say yes.\"
\"You can always try. And if we have to, we can offer to take Ikuyo-san\'s son with us.\" Kuro said. Isawa sat up and looked down at him with wide eyes.
\"I never thought of that! That is the whole resin Tousama wants me to go tonight, is to meet Ikuyo\'s son!\" Isawa said and jumped off the bed running to his door and opening it. Kuro sat up on the bed and looked at the door. He heard Isawa running down the stairs and into the kitchen where his father was.
Kuro waited there for almost fifteen minutes before Isawa came running back up stairs with the biggest grin on his face.
\"He said yes!!!\" Isawa yelled and ran jumping on the bed and knocking him and Kuro off the other side, they rolled around on the floor for a little bit laughing until Kuro pinned him. They were both breathing heavily and looking at each other; Isawa didn\'t even notice the bit of pain in his shoulder as he looked up at Kuro. They spent a minute in that position until Isawa finally realized that Kuro was straddling his hips. A blush spread across his cheeks.
\"Umm...could you get off of me now?\" Isawa asked. Kuro looked down at him and smiled at the blush before he got up.
\"Gomen, I hope I didn\'t hurt your shoulder.\" Kuro said and helped Isawa off the floor.
\"You didn\'t...\"Isawa said still blushing.
\"Isawa, Kuro! We\'re going to be leaving soon!\" Kunisada called up to the both of them. Kuro and Isawa smiled at each other and ran down the stairs. They had both been waiting to see the movie \'IT\' for almost a year when they first saw the add for it.
\"That was fast.\" Kunisada said. \"I am guessing you are going to need money for the movie tonight Isawa?\" He asked. Isawa nodded and watched as his father pulled out his wallet and gave him $40. \"You can go to dinner after the movie.\" He said and walked into the hall grabbing his coat. Kuro grabbed his coat and helped Isawa with his.
\"I can\'t wait for my damn shoulder to get better.\" Isawa grumbled.
\"Watch your mouth Isawa!\" Kunisada snapped at him. Isawa blushed and nodded. The three of them went out to the car.
~*~
Ikuyo was busy making dinner in the kitchen when her son, Koichi, came into the kitchen. She smiled over at him.
\"Hello sweetie, would you mind helping me?\" She asked. Koichi nodded.
\"Sure, what do you need me to do?\" He asked walking over to the stove.
\"Could you keep string this for me while I go get changed?\" She asked.
\"Sure Okasama.\" He smiled at her as she left the kitchen. He couldn\'t wait until he could meet Kunisada and his son. Kunisada had called a little over an hour ago to see if his mother would mind Koichi going to the movies with Isawa and his friend. Koichi said he didn\'t mind, that he had had planes to go to the movies tonight but canceled them when he found out he was going to meet his mothers boyfriend tonight.
Ikuyo came back down the stairs and into the kitchen. Koichi had finished up the dinner his mother had started and was now setting it up on the table when the doorbell rang.
\"I\'ll get it.\" Koichi said and ran to the door. Ikuyo shook her head, even though Koichi was seventeen he still acted like he was seven sometimes. Koichi opened the door and smiled at Kunisada, Isawa and Kuro.
\"Konichiwa, you must be Ishtar-san.\" Koichi said bowing slightly.
\"Please, call me Kunisada.\" Kunisada said with a smile. \"And this is my son Isawa....\" Kunisada introduced him.
\"And this is my friend Kuro, he\'s coming to the movies with us.\" Isawa said. Koichi nodded and moved aside to let them in.
\"Right this way, Okasama is in the kitchen.\" Koichi said and led them to the kitchen where his mother had just finished setting up the plates for her and Kunisada. She smiled up at them; she walked over and gave Kunisada a kiss.
\"Hello honey.\" She said. Kunisada smiled and kissed her back. The three boys stood in the door way. Koichi shook his head; his mother was acting like she was 18 again. And he was happy to see it, his mother had always been to serious. Kuro cleared his throat getting Isawa\'s attention.
\"I think we should be going, don\'t want to be late for the movie.\" Kuro said. Isawa nodded and looked at his father.
\"Umm...Tousama, we are going to leave now, I don\'t want to miss the beginning of the movie.\" Isawa said. His father looked at him and nodded.
\"Alright, don\'t be home to late. And I am guessing you will be staying the night K\" H\" He asked before the t tee teens went out the door.
\"If that is all right with you Ishtar-san.\" Kuro said.
\"You are always welcome at our house.\" Kunisada said. Kuro smiled and the three of them left leaving Ikuyo and Kunisada alone.

Okay, what did you think? This is the story about Isawa, my very first yaoi character. I made him hoping to put him into and RPG, but the one I was going to put him in died, so I started my own Weiss Kreuz RPG. And this story is about what happened before he left home to go to collage. This is only the first in what is going to be a small series. The next part of the series is when Isawa meets Omi (Even if you don\'t know, or watch Weiss Kreuz you might still be able to understand it.) But let me know what you thought about this, and I will try and have the second chapter up as soon as I can. Ja ne!

{By next week.}
{Let me talk to him, if he\'s not busy.}

Ja ne!
