And The Raven Never Flitting

A/N: Yes, I took the name from Trigun. No! It isn\'t the same guy. I own this! I actually own this! That said: Should you decide to rip me off, expect legal action. I will not hesitate to sue your ass.

Moonlight filters through the trees above me, casting an almost surreal glow to the ground. I throw my gaze towards the sky, wrapping my fingers delicately around the tiny amulet that hangs around my neck. Tonight is the night. The night that I will end everything for her. I turn on my heel, and move towards the sound of her heart. Her beating, pounding heart.

I move through the glass of her window as though it isn\'t even there, my hands resting by my sides in utter stillness. Even in the darkness, I can see her. Her heart beats at a relaxed pace, her sleeping mind unaware of my presence. I run my fingertips across her cheek, watching as she rolls onto her back, red curls framing her head like a flaming halo, one hand resting on her stomach, the other beside her face. I lean down, and whisper into her ear, no breath coming out.

She gasps, sitting up straight. Such a light sleeper. Wide green eyes search the darkness. Upon their second sweep of the room, they come to rest on me. She shivers involuntariand and scoots further away from me on the bed. It is all I can do not to smile, and I settle myself on the edge of a chair, my gaze intense and burning. I know she can feel it. She knows it is time. She opens her mouth, her courage nowhere to be found. All she can manage is my name.

\"Legato..\" She says, eyes wide. She pushes her quilts back slowly, climbing out of the bed on the side opposite from me. She closes her eyes, taking a deep breath. Before she can open them, I close the space between us, with a speed no mere human could ever comprehend or attain. I brush cold fingers across her cheek once more, and she shudders beneath my touch. I dip my head slowly, teeth grazing across her neck.

It happens in the blink of an eye.

I am thrown across the room with a power that cannot be described, landing on the cold stone with a sickening and resounding thud. She has tears in her eyes, the kind of tears that I have not been able to cry for centuries. She raises her hand towards me, and speaks softly, her once melodic voice shaking with repressed sobs.

\"Legato, immortal and inhuman, I banish thee. Never shall you return to this world until my decendants call upon thee. Thou wilt not be known to this world any longer.\"

I feel my power being wrenched away from me with each word that passes her lips, and with that final phrase, I feel myself thrown down into the abysses of Hell. It is my last waking moment for more than four hundred years. My last waking moment before I am sent into what is believed by all to be an eternal slumber.
