This Devil's Argument
this devil\'s argument
desolate I am
and sorrow\'s child
a prince uncrowned
and unadorned
save with the scars
of love
I dare not cry
lest some unseen
vengeful god
think me ungrateful
and deny
the central axis
of my life
the sun I orbit round
you
there is only ever you
my lips
my hands
my body and
the soul within
are yours
use them as you will
but understand
I know full well
who I am and
who you are
and a sun
bereft of its world
in endless orbit
is but a cold and lonely
dying star
