death

death and me

we had a talk

we made this deal

i was offering my soul

bargain prices hardly used

he said

never borrow never beg

what you can as easy steal

so take the gamble

throw the dice

pull the trigger

see what falls

there was a tower

and within

i dwelt

never let the sun inside

never ventured out

and then the walls were shattered

and suddenly

everything i had denied

was there

and what had been despised

mattered

and i wept

for the present joy

and the sorrow i would feel

when it was torn away

but that is a grief

for another day

a death to die

another night

at the dying

of the light

if love fades away
