Part 5b: Let's do it right! (angel)

“I’m glad. Thank you, Raine... this has been quite the afternoon. And to think I could’ve just spent it working!”

Raine laughed. “That would’ve been a shame!”

“It would’ve been a goddamned waste, Raine! This... this was perfect.”

“Yeah...”

“But I guess we should maybe sleep now.”

“I guess... Let’s get the pillows, then?”

“Yeah.”

As said, so done, and soon their bed was well-stocked once again and they were burrowing under the covers together. Lying face to face, Raine nosed Shia and gave her a hug.

“Thank you, Shia.”

“Hm? What for?”

“For being the most wonderful girlfriend anyone could be lucky enough to have.”

“Oh, shush; you are the most wonderful girlfriend anyone could ask for.”

They bickered playfully a little, each trying to overdo the other in praise, and were soon going through the events of the day, highlighting their favourite moments.

“And now you’re making me blush, too,” said Raine, sleepily, after they’d been at it for a good while. “I really wasn’t all that great. And I just had to do it.”

“You had to?”

“Yeah,” breathed Raine, “because I really love you, Shia.”

“I love you too. Goodnight, Raine.”

“Goodnight.

And with their heads and hearts thus filled with each other, their hands linked between them, they fell asleep. Their breathing slowed and fell into rhythm.

Soon, it was impossible to tell the two apart.
