A first kiss

.........
Eight

A week later

Diamond was finally having lunch with her friends, as Megan had put it, she hadn’t been interested in hanging out with them. She picked up her milk and sipped it they were talking about the Halloween dance.

“Diamond did hear me?”

She looked at Julia.

“I don’t think so.”

She rolled her eyes.

“I said do you want to work on the committee with me for the Halloween carnival.”

“There is going to be carnival?”

“Yeah Principal Edison loves Halloween he always get’s dressed up and insists on candy and extra credit points during this month.”

“Oh right he mentioned that.” she said.

“So are you going to come?”

“Sure, what do I need to do?”

“We’re in the snack group, we’ll be cooking.”

“Cooking? I can do that.”

“Great!”

“So how come you’ve been spending so much time with Mrs. Delmone?” Kasey asked.

“We’re friends no reason I can’t go hang out with her.”

“But in the teacher’s lounge?” she added.

“I will tell you the same thing I told Christina, Matthew said I could.”

“Which teacher is Matthew?”

“Are you serious Kasey? That’s the principal’s name.” Julia said.

“Now you’re all buddy buddy with the principal?”

“And Rachel.”

Kasey looked at Julia.

“That’s the nurse.”

“Actually Lizzie is really nice too.”

“Head secretary.” Julia said quickly.

“Wow, with that comes power.” Megan said.

She shrugged, she looked up as Matthew waved at her.

“Excuse me.”

She got up and walked over to him.

“Hey Matt, what’s up?”

“Can you take Christina home for me? I excused you from your classes. she’s in the nurse’s office.”

“Sure, but is that some sort of perk for being a friend?”

“Call it what you want you and both know you could test out and be in college like that.” he snapped his fingers and put his hands on his hips.

She grinned.

“Sure, by the way Julia asked me to help her with the food for the carnival.”

He beamed.

“Oh that’s fantastic, I’m looking forward to it but you’ll probably have to do most of the work Julia means well but the teacher in charge had to throw out everything she made last year. That girl can burn air.”

She laughed.

“I’m serious she was suppose to boil water and turned the stove on first so it would heat up, she forgot about it and well, the fire was pretty.”

She giggled again

“Okay, well see you later then.”

She waved to the table and left the cafeteria, she grabbed her things from her locker and went to find Christina. She paused when she walked in, Christina’s scent had changed she rubbed her nose and walked over to where she was sitting.

“Hey.”

She looked up and sighed.

“I told him I would be fine.”

“What happened?”

“I may or may not have passed out, I thought I was fine.”

Diamond helped her stand.

“Maybe you should take a couple days off.”

“No I just need to go to sleep earlier and stop taking my work home with me.”

“You just found out you’re pregnant and already you can’t handle it.”

“Diamond please, if you’re taking me home then I just want to leave.”

“Fine, fine come on.”

...................

Christina sighed as they arrived at her house.

“What is it?”

“Samuel’s truck is gone....but Frank’s is still here I’ll probably be alone with him.”

Diamond turned off the car and took off her seat belt.

“What are you doing?”

“Going in with you.”

They got out and Diamond walked her to the door.

“You don’t need to I can be alone with Frank.”

“Are you saying you don’t want me to come in?”

Christina didn’t answer of course she felt better around Diamond and didn’t like to have to part ways. She opened the door and they walked inside, Diamond looked around a little.

“Oh you’re house is beautiful.”

Christina smiled.

“Thank you, I’ll run upstairs and tell Frank I’m here help yourself to the fridge.”

Diamond took off her jacket.

“Don’t mind if I do, Matthew hired the worst lunch ladies ever.”

Christina grinned and walked upstairs, she couldn’t find him, she checked the bathrooms and the guest rooms and finally knocked on the room his parents were using. When she got no answer she let herself in, she smiled seeing the mess of bed clothes on the ground as if Francina had been in a rush. Which meant there was a sale somewhere and she made Frank go with her and Samuel she walked back into the kitchen. Diamond was eating an apple.

“Is he not here?”

“No he left with his parents.”

“Great I didn’t want to meet him anyways, why don’t you sit down I’ll make you something to eat.”

“It’s not often a guest of mine wants to cook for me.”

“Well I’m sure you don’t pass out often either.”

Christina sat down and watched Diamond move around the kitchen her gaze danced around her body until it fell on her nicely shaped backside. She blushed and shook her head.

‘This is not the time to be having dirty thoughts Christina.....’ she reprimanded herself.

Diamond looked up with a grin, she supposed she would eventually have to warn Christina not to broadcast her thoughts like that.

“Is everything okay?” she asked innocently.

“Yeah it’s fine, I think I need some water.”

“I’ll get it.”

She grabbed a glass and put water and ice in it, she walked over and set it down in front of Christina. This wasn’t the first time this had happened over the years plenty of demons have found human mates who had been touched by another first. Humans, though it’s sometimes hard to believe, can have a strong connection with a soul mate but when that person turns out to be a demon the connection is intensified. Basically, despite recent events Christina’s body is responding to being close to Diamond even though she doesn’t know Diamond chose her despite the obvious challenge. In short, her body is expecting the alpha of the two to make it better, and it doesn’t help that Diamond keeps using her charms on her.

Diamond made fish sandwiches, a garden salad, and brownies from one of the boxes of mix, she didn’t need pre-made mixes but it saved time. Christina thanked her for cooking and as they ate easily fell back into teacher mode.

“So you still won’t take the test?”

“Not a chance.”

“But you’re doing so well.”

“But what if I’m a terrible Senior?”

Christina rolled her eyes.

“And so what if you are?”

“You won’t like me anymore.”

Christina scoffed.

“I don’t like you because you make good grades.”

“Then why do you like me? And don’t say it’s because I’m persistent.”

Christina smiled.

“Maybe I don’t know why I like you.”

Diamond grinned and waved her fork at her.

“I can deal with that, now clean your plate or I won’t let you have a brownie.”

With a laugh Christina saluted her.

...

Christina was feeling fine after eating and cleaning, she showed Diamond around the house they went downstairs in the basement there were a pool table and a large leather couch sat in front of a flat screen television.

“Frank’s man cave?”

“No he hardly ever comes down here, we use to have parties it was nice to relax down here, Samuel gave us the pool table as an anniversary gift.”

They walked over to the couch and Christina opened one of the three cabinets they had downstairs, full of movies.

“Do you have any horror movies?”

She pulled out one she had yet to watch, it was supposed to be a remake of a zombie movie with a twisted director. Zombies themselves aren’t scary in a lot of movies but this one was given eight stars out of ten because the zombies were smart and you couldn’t just kill them with with a shot to the head.

“How about this?”

“Oh oh, I wanted to see that one when did you get it?”

“When it came out but I never got a chance to watch it.”

“It was still in the plastic so Frank obviously hadn’t been interested in it.”

............

It was hard to scare Christina with a silly movie but she had clung to Diamond through most of it who thought it was sort of funny.

“Why are you laughing?!”

“I’m a bit off I guess.”

Christina looked at her.

“Should I be concerned?”

Diamond only grinned, when the movie ended Christina refused to leave Diamond’s side as it was dark and her family still wasn’t home, in fact at some point she ended up in Diamond’s lap. Now Diamond was laying down and Christina had her back to the television as she hid.

“We could watch something else to take your mind off of it.”

“That movie will be burned into my mind until I die.” she said dramatically.

Diamond laughed.

“I thought you could handle scary movies.”

“Oh shut it...hmp every horror movie fan is destined to find at least one movie that scares them.”

Diamond giggled.

“Well if you don’t want to watch a movie what do you want to do?”

Christina looked at her.

“I don’t know.......” she trailed off.

Diamond raised a hand to cup her cheek and smiled at her.

“Really?”

Christina blushed darkly.

“.....”

Diamond dipped her head to press her lips against Christina’s, her eyes went wide but only for a moment she closed them and found herself kissing her back. Christina parted her lips and Diamond slipped her tongue inside. It was the sort of passionate kiss she’d missed out on, Christina moaned as their tongues danced together. Diamond’s hands didn’t wander the stayed right on her hips Christina would have to tell her if she wanted more this wasn’t the time to be pushy. They eventually had to part for air but they only did for a few seconds before kissing a second time. This time when they parted it was because the phone rang, Christina moved away and fell off the couch.

She grabbed the house phone and answered.

“He....llo?”

“Sugar it’s me.”

“Hi Fran, where are you guys?”

“Oh you sound out of breath hon you didn’t have to run I could have waited for you, anyways there was a big sell at the mall.”

‘I knew it.’ she thought as she blushed.

“But the truck over heated on our way back, I keep telling Sammy he needs to fix it, anyhoo the boys pushed it to the closest mechanic they just got back so we’re on our way home. I picked up some cute stuff for you.”

Christina smiled.

“I’m glad you’re all safe, and thank you but you didn’t have to do that.”

“Of course I did, most of it is maternity wear and I know how hard it is to find cute maternity clothes when it matters.”

She laughed.

“Thanks, I appreciate it I’ll pay you back.”

“Are you kidding me? Do you pay everyone back for a gift?”

“Well.”

“Exactly, see you soon.”

She hung up and Christina did the same and just stared at the phone she was afraid to look at Diamond.

“Christina?”

She tensed.

“Yes Diamond?”

“I’m sorry if I crossed the line.”

She chewed on her lip.

“Don’t be silly, I’m not that helpless I could have pushed you off if I wanted to.”

“So why won’t you look at me?”

‘Because apparently an almost awkward conversation with my mother in-law isn’t enough to put out the fire you started inside of me.’

Diamond smirked a little.

“No reason.”

Diamond slid off the couch and wrapped her arms around Christina.

“You sure about that?” she whispered in her ear.

“Of course.....I uh.....you know the family is coming back soon.”

“Do you want me to leave?”

“Why do you phrase your questions like that? As if it’s all up to me?”

“Because it is, so do you?”

Christina looked at her.

“No...”

“I thought so, figured I should make sure.”
