Survival

Alright then, now I'm going to do the Locust. I make it a point to answer any concerns and problems with my story people tell me in new chapters. If they read this new chapter it means I can answer their questions and that they like the story enough to read the updates. I've got a complaint that someone likes my story but the scientific inaccuracies almost ruins the story for that person. In truth I'm surprised it took so long for someone to mention this.

I'm not an scientist. I'm a baker. I know that this isn't an excuse but the fact of the matter is some of the things in my story are impossible, but this is fiction.

I have a wife, two kids and I run a bakery. I do a lot of this writing from my office computer on slow days, its rushed because I'm at work and for that I'm sorry.

Before I started this story I researched my idea and learned that the whole Human women gone, Human men alive because of a virus is impossible in real life. After I found that out I told myself I wouldn't write the story. Two weeks later my wife told me point blank that it was fiction, that it's not supposed to be real and the impossible can be made possible because the author says so. I decided what the hell and am now writing this story.

But I went into too much detail on the incorrect science and now its bugging the science lovers and I can't blame them. I know absolutely nothing about how genetics work and from now on I'll make the science stuff more vague so that it doesn't bug the science lovers too much. I hope. My annoymous critic also suggested that I make a new story for when I introduce new races.

The thing I'm worried about is that people will read the second story and not the first and most of the comments will be filled with people complaining about how they have no idea whats going on because they think I didn't explain it. I'm a new writer and this is my first story so I can take critism because it helps me improve my writing. But lots of comments like "You should quit" or "Your a shitty writer" etc. etc. can throw me off writing this story.

Which is a shame because I like writing.

My annoymous critic also suggested spending more time on the plot and developing it rather than just getting everything I want in. So the story updates may take longer as I iron out the chapters but I hope the longer update wait won't throw off too many people. I like the fact that people want to read this story.

I'm going to finish the References, finish the Hoto chapters and then start a new story introducing a new race called the Noxic. Still not sure on the story title though. What do ya think, is Survival 2 too AWESOME a title for the new story? :)

Locust: Origins

The Locust are one of seven advanced insectoid races found on the planet Cassia. In apperance the Locust resemble Human sized Desert Locust but are carnivores not herbivores. Due to their carnivorous nature the Locust have developed as a warrior species. Using their large numbers, speed and rapid flight the Locust swarm and devour any life they come across. The only reason the Locust didn't wipe out the other six advanced races on Cassia in the early years of life is because they would band together to combat any Locust threat.

The need to eat living species to survive had permanently instilled a predator instinct within the Locust. If you weren't Locust you were food. Although there was a time when the Locust practiced cannibalism.

As the Locust grew in size and power the animals in their country on Cassia were soon going to be extinct. Relizing this the Locust used their vast numbers and speed to create ships and weapons of war in secret. When their armada was finished the Locust spread rumors and lies about the other species to sow discontent between them. When the six other species began to break off diplomatic relationships with the other species the Locust struck.

It was like a wave of destruction that consumed the planet. Whole nations fell under the Locusts mighty armada and species went extinct due to their unending hunger. The six other species no longer trusted eachother and the combined armies used to defeat the Locust in the past no longer existed. The only known species to have escaped the Locusts feeding frenzy were the Hoto.

When Cassia was stripped bare of all life the Locust set to the stars for food. Any world that contained life was attacked and all life, primative and advanced was eaten. Some believe the reason that there are so little alien species in the galaxy is because the Locust ate most of them.

Any technology, ships and resources owned by the eaten species was taken by the Locust, giving them a massive technological boost.

The Locust were believed unstoppable until they met Humanity.

The Locust government is a monarchy with a king or queen in charge.

Locust: Religion

The Locust are a race that believe that consuming the body of a strong warrior gives that Locust their strength. When a particularly strong warrior was killed a Locust was sometimes challenged for consuming rights in a fight to the death. This in a way is their religion.

The Locust do not have a deity.

Locust: Technology

The Locust race had the most advanced technology in the galaxy. Despite their killer nature the Locust were not stupid, in fact they were probably the smartest species alive. This is due to their numbers as the Locust bred at a massive rate. The large amount of Locust allowed them to quickly design and build their fleet and technology faster then any other living beings. The only species that came close to their construction speed was Humanity. Although that was mostly because of the Nanites Humans have invented.

Locust technology was designed for one of three things: Killing, making food and getting to the food.

Philosophy, art, history, religion were all meaningless to the Locust and a waste of resources better spent to getting food. Ask a Locust what the meaning of life is and it will say "who cares" then it will kill you and eat you.

The Harvesting facilities are gruesome buildings created by the Locust to store food and to get the most nutrition out of their food. The only known Harvesting facility left is Hell's kitchen on Mercury which is now a Human prison.

Locust weapons consist of energy weapons like the Plasma rifle. Humans have yet to discover how to replicate these weapons.

Locust: Human war

The war with Humanity was considered a sure win by the Locust. While Humans were one of the more advanced species they came across the Locusts early victories assured them a win. They were wrong. As the war progressed Humanities natural ability to adapt to any situation allowed them to eventually find weaknesses in Locust tatics. In truth the Locust have very few tactics, their favorite being overwhelm the enemy with numbers and power.

It was not long until the Locust noticed that their casualty and death rate were growing. Realizing that a long drawn out war would be bad for them the Locust amassed a large fleet and sent it to harvest Earth. Upon landing the Locust fought and killed many Human until they were eventually cast off the planet.

The Locust dead continued to rise and the Locust leaders realized that most of the dead Locust didn't die in war but rather by diease. In a twist reminiscent of H.G. Wells War of the Worlds the Locust were dying due to dieases contracted from eaten Humans. The common cold being the most deadly to the Locust. The Locust have a very low immune system and it became their downfall.

After the dieases had decimated most of their numbers the Locust fled back to other worlds to try and cure themselves. When they discovered that they did not have time to do so they retro fitted a virus created to wipe out one of six Cassian species, now changed for Humanity. If they were going to go extinct they were going to take Humanity with them. The Venus virus, as it is called by Humans, wiped out every Human women in the galaxy.

The Locusts had contaminated the water supplies of every Human colonized world and put a time delay on the virus. Twenty years later when the virus had entered the blood stream of every human it activated.

Well thats all I've written on the Locust. I know, I know its not much but then again theres really not much to say. The Locust eat, a lot. Besides I like the air of mystery about the Locust.

I've got this story posted on three sites ya know: Hentai Foundry, Adult Fanfiction and Fiction Press. I wanted to see what the rating differences would be and if the critisms would be different or if people would point out the same thing. I thought it would help my story if I had different people studying it and telling me whats wrong and what to improve. Its doing well on Hentai Foundry and Adult Fanfiction, not so well on Fiction Press though.

To my critic Anon, I hope that all the stuff I said at the start of the chapter puts your mind at ease. I'm tempted to take down your comment so it doesn't throw off new readers but I think I'll keep it up so that I don't forget what you said.
