Chapter Nine:

“Your Highness!”

Emerald turned around with a frown on his face. “Boy, do I have to remind you again to not call me by that title while we are out and about?” he scolded his servant boy.

“Sorry Master. I will do my best to not address you by your real title. “

“Good, now then tell me, why is it that you are here?” Emerald asked as he sipped the delicious wine in his hand.

“The trunk that you have been waiting for has arrived. The humans dropped it off an hour ago just like you asked. I was wondering if you would like for it to be stowed away with all your other trunks Master. ”

“No need. Just have it brought to my cabin,” Emerald told his servant boy.

“Yes Master,” the servant boy said and he left right away.

A short moment later the trunk was brought to Emerald’s cabin. As soon as it was set down, his nose caught a familiar scent coming from inside the trunk. A grin slowly formed on his lips. Now who would have thought that the gorgeous human would fall right into his lap, he thought and he waved his guards out.

“Looks like I forgot to give my men an important order,” he said loudly and walked over to his cabin door. With a smile he opened and shut it then hid himself in the shadows and waited. He didn't have to wait long. He grinned widely when the trunk opened and the gorgeous man that he had the pleasure of meeting earlier climbed out of the trunk.

This trip was going to be interesting, Emerald thought as he kept his eyes on the beautiful creature before him. He recalled their earlier encounter and his grin got wider. No one had ever dared to threaten him or to knee him in his most private area. Most humans, man or woman would have been more than happy to worship that part of him with their mouths.  Yet this gorgeous human before him was the complete opposite of that and he found him very intriguing.

“Hello gorgeous, looks like we meet again,” he said and revealed himself to the pretty man.

Keelan’s heart pounded hard against his chest. His eyes shot open wide and he almost stumbled backwards. “You?”

“Yes gorgeous,”  said Emerald as he slowly walked forward.

Keelan swiftly reached for the dagger he hid inside his black boot, and pointed it at the man before him. He flashed the man a warning glare. “Don't come any closer or I'll pierce your heart with my dagger!”

Emerald stopped midway and crossed his arms in front of him with an amused grin on his face. “Go ahead if you dare gorgeous, but I wonder if you would be able to make it off the ship alive if I was no longer there to keep my men from making a meal out of you? They love human meat. They claim that you humans are very delicious. ”

“You dragons are savages, nothing less than I expect from your kind,” retorted Keelan without a hint of fear for his life. “If I had known that you were a dragon, I would have killed you back then. ”

“Ah gorgeous, are you one of those humans who despise us dragons?” asked Emerald, getting more interested by the minute in the gorgeous human before his eyes

“You’re right about that dragon. I despise you and your kind. There are no words in this world that can describe how much I hate your kind,” replied Keelan, his eyes filled with hatred as he recalled what happened twenty years ago when the dragons attacked his town and murdered his family and friends. He would have been dead too if it wasn't for someone who helped him. He couldn't remember the person’s face, but that person saved his life. All he could remember of that person was the gentle and kind smile that person showed him before he lost consciousness  and how safe he had felt in that person’s arms. He was so deep in his thoughts that he didn't see the dragon move until his dagger was taken from him.

Keelan took a step back and swung his leg up, kicking the dragon man really hard in the chest with his booted foot. His fist came flying straight towards the dragon man’s face but the dragon man managed to avoid his fist by swiftly moving his head to the side. The dragon grabbed his legs and knocked him down to the cabin floor, pinning him down with his hard body.

“I will have to be careful with you or I might end up with more than a bruise on me,” remarked Emerald, grinning down at the beautiful human struggling beneath him.

“Get off of me dragon or I swear that I'll scratch your eyes out!” Keelan demanded loudly with anger in his voice. His eyes burned with the fire of rage.

"Lower your voice gorgeous or my men will hear you. If you are in a hurry to be eaten alive by my men then please do scream as loudly as you can and I won't stop them from making a meal out of you. ” Emerald smirked when the pretty man beneath him grew still and silent. There wasn't any need to let the gorgeous man know that he had forbidden all dragons young and old from devouring humans. If a dragon was caught or heard to have committed such an act, they would be executed right away in the worst possible way one could imagine as a warning to other dragons who disobeyed his orders.

Keelan wasn't a fool. He knew when to back down and when not to. He needed to keep himself from being eaten alive by a bunch of savage dragons if he wanted to save his nephew. However, he swore deep inside that once he rescued his nephew, the first person he was going to kill was the damn dragon on top of him. For now he resorted to doing the only thing he could to get the dragon man off him. He raised his head and bit the dragon’s ear really hard until it started bleeding. As soon as his hands were free, he shoved the dragon man off and snatched his dagger back.

Emerald was surprised by the sudden attack to his flesh. He counted himself lucky that the gorgeous man didn't bite his ear off. “You are like a wild beast, gorgeous,” He remarked with one hand over his ear as he made his way to the table next to his bed. He slid the drawer open and took out a white cloth to wipe the blood off.

“Stop calling me gorgeous!” Keelan snapped sharply, annoyed with the damn dragon.

“What would you like me to call you then beautiful?” asked Emerald with a smirk.

“I am a man inside and out. Don't you dare use such words as gorgeous and beautiful on me. Save your charm for someone who doesn’t despise you dragons,” Keelan retorted.

“And here I was thinking that you would give me your name, beautiful,” remarked Emerald with a teasing grin .

“Y-you insufferable beast!” snapped Keelan, his face red with anger. He had never been angrier in his life than at this very moment. His hand was in a tight fist, ready to knock the man out any second now if the man did not stop calling him gorgeous.

“I won't call you gorgeous or beautiful, but in return I want your name,” said Emerald as he poured himself a glass of wine. “Do we have an agreement, cute face?” he added a short minute later.

Keelan took a deep breath in and a deep breath out to calm himself before giving his agreement. “Fine, but if you call me by those names one more time, I'll cut your tongue out and feed it to the sharks. ”

“Agreed,” said Emerald and he waited to hear the pretty man’s name.

“Keelan. My name is Keelan, satisfied?” Keelan muttered as he put his dagger back inside his boot.

“Keelan. What a beautiful name,” Emerald couldn’t help but wonder where he had heard that name before. Well it didn't matter. What mattered now was the gorgeous man standing in across the room.

“Tell me Keelan, why did you sneak on to my ship?” he asked with interest, wanting to know what would make a beauty like this man sneak onto a ship full of dragons when the man himself declared that he hated dragons.

“What would you do if I told you that I am on my way to kill a dragon?” Keelan asked with his arm crossed in front of him.

“Then I would have to ask you what this dragon had done to earn your grudge,” replied Emerald.

“He kidnapped my nephew. Now tell me dragon, what will you do to me now that you know my reasons for wanting to sail east?”

“Does this dragon happen to be Vasile, the dragon of the east?” asked Emerald.

“Why? Do you know him?” asked Keelan.

“Know him? He is my best friend. Many dragons consider him to be the second handsomest dragon after me.”

“Are you telling me that all the dragons young and old consider you to be the most handsome amongst them, and that Vasile, the dragon of the east is second to you in looks?” Keelan snorted and let out a chuckle. “That is the funniest thing I’ve heard all week. ”  He laughed hard.

“What? You don't think that I am handsome Keelan?”

Keelan looked straight up at the dragon man’s eyes. “Oh you’re handsome alright. I will admit to that, but I don't think that you are the handsomest dragon or man out there.”

“How amusing,” remarked Emerald as he got more interested in the pretty man before him. A knock sounded on his door and he saw a look of panic come to Keelan’s eyes. “Come in,” he called and his servant entered. He saw the surprised look on his servant’s face.

“This is Keelan. He came with the trunk,” Emerald told his servant and he saw Keelan cast him a murderous glare. He let out a soft laugh and asked his servant what he wanted.

The servant boy was smart enough to know not to ask questions so he answered his master. “Master, the men want to know if you want to set sail now or if you want to wait a bit longer,” reported the servant.

“Tell them to set sail right away. I want to make it before the tournament starts,” he told his servant boy.

“Yes Master. ” The servant boy departed, leaving him alone again with Keelan.

“Keelan I hope you don't mind. You will be staying in my cabin until we reach the palace in the east,” Emerald told Keelan and walked over to the trunk at the far end of the room. He opened it and pulled out a set of clothes.

“What are you doing?” Keelan shrieked when the dragon man started to unbutton his shirt.

“Changing,” came Emerald’s reply. He removed his shirt, exposing his fine looking chest to Keelan’s eyes.

Keelan’s eyes snapped shut tight and he spun around to face the other way. “Oh God this wasn't happening was it? That damn dragon was not going to parade around the cabin without his clothes on was he," Keelan asked himself as he tried to not let his curiosity get the better of him.

“What is this? I thought that you were a man Keelan. Why are you acting like an innocent woman who has never seen a man’s body before?” Emerald remarked with laughter as he took his time putting on his new shirt.

That damn dragon was making fun of him. Keelan had no doubt in his mind that the damn dragon was mocking him and he surely was not going to let the damn dragon get the better of him. If the damn dragon wanted him to look, then look he would.

Keelan opened his eyes to find that the dragon man had already finished dressing in a silky red shirt that matched his reddish eyes, and dark pants. He hated to admit it, but the damn dragon was pretty handsome.

“Come on, I want to introduce you to my men. That way they won't gobble you up when they catch you lurking around on the ship,” Emerald said, opening the door to his cabin. He waited for Keelan to move from the center of the room.

“Fine. I don't want to have to look over my shoulder or kill unless it is necessary,” he retorted and walked right past the dragon man.

“Here I thought that you would love nothing more than to murder us,” Emerald commented with his teasing smile.

“Of course, I would love nothing more than to put a dagger or two into you dragon but I need you and your goddamn ship to take me to the east. ”

“You are a very interesting human Keelan. I have never met a human like you before. No human I have ever met, man or woman, would ever sneak onto a ship full of dragons and arrogantly boast about killing them if they weren't useful to them,” Emerald told Keelan with an amused smile on his face.

“Well now you have met one,” retorted Keelan smiling with his arms crossed in front of him.

Emerald loved the smile on Keelan’s face, but he kept it to himself. If he told Keelan, he knew that more than likely the gorgeous man would never allow him to see it again. “So shall we go then?”

“After you, dragon,” said Keelan. He motioned with his hand for the dragon to go ahead of him and he followed right after.

----------------

"What? The great dragon is coming here by ship? What in the world is he thinking? We are dragons, we don't need ships to get across the ocean. We are dragons damn it. ”

Vasile looked up from his plate of food. “Who in the world would know what Emerald is thinking Father? Anyway the messenger said that he should be arriving in ten days and to not start the tournament till he arrives. ”

“Does this mean that we have to postpone the damn thing till he gets here?"

“Yes Father,” replied Vasile and he stood up to leave. “By the way Father, please remind uncle Daegan and his bastard sons who it is that is in charge of this palace. I won't go easy on them next time if they dare to touch what belongs to me. ” With that all said and done, he left.

Vince turned his eyes to Christian who sat quietly eating his food. “Do you know what my son is talking about Christian?” he asked.

“Yes I do Vince, and all I have to say is that Daegan’s sons got what they deserved,” Christian answered and also stood up to leave. “I really want to know why Daegan seems to think that it is you who is in charge of this palace Vince. ”

“He still has not accepted Vasile as being stronger and more powerful than his two sons. In Daegan’s eyes, his sons are the strongest and the ones who deserve to rule the palace of the east,” Vince told Christian and sipped his wine.

“His sons far more stronger and powerful than Vasile?” Christian laughed.  “That is the funniest thing I have ever heard. Any fool can see that Vasile is far superior to his sons. They are quite a pathetic lot I tell you to be beaten badly by a mere human boy. ” Christian laughed and walked out of the room.

Vince pulled his chair back and stood up. It was time to have a firm talk with his brother. He might be Vasile’s father, but he was nothing more than a guest in his son’s palace. and his brother needed to get it through his thick head or else he would pay dearly for it.

---------------

Sasha hurried to the silver chamber to get the boy for his master. Suddenly he was grabbed from behind by a pair of arms that belonged to no one other than Daegan. “Let me go Daegan!” Sasha demanded as he tried to wiggle his way out of the man’s strong arms.

“We have to talk Sasha,” said Daegan, tightening his hold on Sasha’s waist.

“No we don't. Let me go Daegan,” Sasha pleaded this time.

“I'll let you go once you promise me that you will pick me as your husband Sasha,” said Daegan.

“No! Never! I will never pick you Daegan!” Sasha told Daegan off and tried once more to get free from the man’s tight hold on him.

“Then you leave me no choice,” said Daegan and he lifted Sasha up over his shoulder.

“Put me down!” Sasha demanded loudly, afraid of what Daegan had in store for him. He pounded his fists really hard against the man’s chest and shouted loudly for Daegan to let him go.

“You are going to belong to me tonight Sasha. You have forced me to take you by force. ”

“No please don't! Don't do this. Let me go Daegan. I beg you!” Sasha pleaded and wished that he was as strong as the human boy. As if on cue, Dara showed up with a sharp object in his hand. He pressed it up against Daegan’s back.

“You heard him, let him go,” said Dara, his voice as cold as ice. He pressed the sharp object in his hand harder against Daegan’s flesh and he smirked when Daegan flinched. he repeated what he said earlier.

Sasha was never more relieved to see the boy than at that very moment, he thought as Daegan slowly put him down. He ran and hid behind Dara, which was totally opposite of what he had done earlier that day. “Thank you,” he whispered to the boy.

Dara smiled at Sasha but kept his eyes on Daegan. He pressed the sharp object in his hand harder into Daegan’s flesh and slashed the man’s back deeply, making a straight line down the man’s back. Blood oozed out rapidly. He took a step back with Sasha still behind him.

“Scum like you deserves to die,” Dara said coldly to Daegan then dragged Sasha with him, leaving Daegan alone to watch him and Sasha leave.

Vince saw the whole thing. He was about to interfere before his stupid brother took Sasha away, but the human boy beat him to it. That human boy reminded him of Christian from twenty years ago. His actions and his cold voice all resembled Christian from back then. He walked towards his brother .

“ Daegan!”

Daegan turned around to see his brother’s furious glare, then a hard smack landed across his cheek.

"You fool, what were you thinking attacking him like that? Vasile will have your head and if he doesn’t, the great dragon king will skin you alive and feed you to his hounds!”

“What do you want me to do Vince? I want him. I have waited all these years for him to reach the right age and now I am told that I can't have him unless I win a stupid tournament. ”

“If you really want him that badly then do your damn best to win the damn tournament Daegan. I don't want to ever catch you doing something as stupid as this again. Do I make my self clear?”

Daegan reluctantly nodded his head. Damn it, his back hurt like hell.

“Good. Now follow me, we still have another matter that we need to discuss,”  Vince said and started to walk ahead.  Daegan let out a sigh and dragged himself along.

--------------------------

“You know Sasha I thought that you were stronger,” remarked Dara as they headed towards Vasile’s chamber.

Sasha let out a soft laugh. “Are you surprised to find out that I am weak boy?” he asked.

“Well of course, after all you did knock me unconscious when I first got here,” replied Dara.

“I only succeeded in doing that because you weren't paying attention to me boy. If you recall, you were too busy beating the crap out of the guards to notice me. ”

Dara laughed. “True, but still Sasha, you shouldn't be that weak. After all you are a dragon. You should be able to beat the man into a pulp. ”

“Actually I am a half blood boy. ”

“What do you mean Sasha?” asked Dara with interest.

“What I mean is that I am a child born from a human and a dragon. My mother was a dragon and my dad was human,” Sasha told the boy.

“A human and a dragon, that’s interesting,” said Dara . “I have never met some one like that before. You are a really interesting person Sasha.” He complimented Sasha.

“You really think so boy?” asked Sasha. No one had ever complimented him before. All dragons and humans besides his master and the great dragon king despised him. When he was younger they called him many names. Some went as far to say that he was lower than the ground they walked on just because he was a half blood.

“If I didn't think so, I wouldn't have said so Sasha. I don't lie,” replied Dara.

“I thought you hated dragons boy, and here you are complimenting me.”

“I hate dragons but I like you Sasha,” said Dara.

They stopped in front of Vasile’s chamber. Dara turned to Sasha. “Sasha just because you are a half blood doesn't make you less of a dragon or a human. Don't let people put you down. If they say anything regarding your birth, you should beat them till they can no longer open their damn mouths. ”

Sasha laughed. “Boy, you sound like you--” Sasha didn't get to finish as Dara cut him off.

“When I was young, many children in my town called me many names because I didn't have a father. They went as far as to throw stones at me. One time they even tried to drown me in the river, but my uncle stopped them. One day they went too far and I couldn't take it anymore and I beat them up really badly. After that they left me alone."

“What did they do?” Sasha asked, wanting to know.

“They called my mother a whore, and there was no way I could stand there and let them call her that. My mother was everything to me. It was fine if they wanted to attack me but when they started going after my mother,  it was something I could never forgive,” Dara told Sasha.

“You had a rough childhood as well huh boy?”

“Yes,” replied Dara and he took a deep breath. “Alright enough of this. Let’s just get inside before your master starts to bark out orders again,” Dara said with a chuckle.

Sasha reached past him and opened the door, announcing that he had brought Dara.
