Chapter 9
And here is the second part. Yays
It‘s not going to be as long as the first part, and it‘s mostly to tie up loose ends. And to get babies.
Oh, and for those wondering why I‘ve tacked this on, or called this part two, and not just a sequel. I just have a thing about sequels. This just makes me feel better about it.
Mama took the mating pretty well.
Pretty well, as in Eli wasn’t allowed to stay at the cottage anymore. It wasn’t because Eli got mated. It was because Mama didn’t want to hear what they did at night. Well, she was a little more detailed about what she didn’t want to hear, but… Eli just didn’t want to think about it.
So, now, Eli was walking behind Ashton, who had somehow known that Mama wasn’t going to allow them to stay there. It made him suspicious. Especially when Mama told to go show Eli their new home. Even said something about it being on her territory.
He'd asked why they weren't going to live with the pack, and Ashton replied that it was because his pack didn't take kindly to new wolves, even if it was just a mate. This would make them all happy, considering how close it was to Mama.
There was still one issue that he had yet to deal with. What was he going to do about clothes? If it was just him and Ashton, then that’d be fine, but if there were other people coming around…
But then again, would there even be anyone else?
Probably not. Not that he really minded all that much.
“What are you thinking about?” Eli heard from beside him. He hadn’t noticed that Ashton had slowed down, and was walking beside him.
“Nothing.” Eli gave a small shrug. It wasn’t important.
Eli cocked his head to the side. So this was it. Their new home.
Where they would make pups.
Stupid… blushing…
But, it was just, Eli had been expecting a den, like underground, earthy sort of thing.
This was a house. Well, more like the cottage Mama had. It didn’t even look all that old, and Eli could see where it had been patched up here and there, from lack of care.
“I didn’t have much time to work on it. Elena told me about it a few days before I asked you to run with me. She said I could use it if we got mated.”
“Oh.”
Really? Damn people making plans without him knowing.
Oh well, it wasn’t like that was a bad thing.
“But why not… you know, like, a den or something?” He was just ready for the odd look he knew he was going to get.
Eli was surprised when Ashton smiled, walking up to him to wrap an arm around his waist.
“Because of you. I figured you wouldn’t be too happy sleeping in the dirt with spiders crawling all over you.” Ashton looked slightly disgusted at that, “And Elena wants you somewhere close. Says she wants to get more chances to spoil our pups.”
Eli bit his lip, a small smile coming to his lips.
Pups.
“I’m sure we’d be able to add on to this anyway, maybe finish the second floor, get some room for them. What do you think?”
Eli answered with a kiss, excitement radiating off him in waves.
Ashton chuckled, pushing him closer, before breaking the kiss. “Though, there is one thing I should probably tell you.”
“And that is?” Eli urged, nipping at his mate’s neck.
“We don’t exactly have a bed.” Eli cocked his head to the side, and Ashton shrugged. “Where am I going to get one? I mean, we had a plan of taking your old one, but it was too small.” Eli blushed. “And then Elena offered to switch hers with yours. Said something about it being our ‘wedding’ gift, whatever that means. I refused though.”
“So, then, what?” Eli wasn’t too taken with the idea of sleeping on the ground, but if he had too, he wouldn’t complain. Much.
“I brought some of my skins that I’d used for bedding.”
“…Skins…?” He didn’t…
“Is something wrong?” Ashton looked worried. Eli just shook his head, his moment of stupidity was over.
“You mean animal skins, right?” Ashton nodded, and the red wolf sighed. Okay, now that he’d been freaked out thoroughly for the day…
“So what’s going on with your pack, then?” Eli asked, slightly curious. Would they just let Ashton go like that?
“I’m still a part of it. It’s just the Alpha doesn’t like it when wolves from other packs start living in his territory. Even if it’s just a mate. Maybe if his son was the Alpha, you might have been officially part of the pack but…”
The Alpha’s son? And who was this? And why did Ashton think he’d be better…?
“Mm.” Eli answered, slightly miffed, before sighing. Stupid irrationality. Ashton was his.
“Want to go inside?” Ashton asked, feeling Eli nod against his chest.
Ashton led him inside. It wasn’t as big as the cottage Mama had, but it had a second floor, that Eli wanted to check out later.
“Why is this even out here?” Eli gestured around the cottage.
“Elena said something about someone trying to build on it after she just bought the land. I think.”
“You think?”
Ashton shrugged. “She was ranting. I stopped listening.”
Eli snorted. That sounded like Mama.
“I have a question, though. Something I‘ve been thinking about for a while.” Ashton placed his chin on Eli’s shoulder.
“Yes?” Eli leaned back against Ashton.
“Doesn’t Elena have a mate? Has she ever had one before?”
“No, I don’t think so. She never really talked about it.”
“What about you then?”
“What about me?”
“Well, it’s just, wolves don’t have children unless their mated, and wolves mate for life, and if one mate dies… the other does too…” Ashton trailed off slowly.
Eli sighed.
“As far as I’m aware, Mama’s never been mated. And about me? Well, I mean, I don’t know the specifics, exactly, but she said she found me soon after I was born. Said my real parents had died. I think she knew them, because she sounded real sad about it.”
“Oh.” Ashton said, taking it in. “What happened to them?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t really ask. Mama didn’t look like she wanted to talk about it.”
“Don’t you want to know, though?” Ashton asked, curious.
“I don’t know. I’m a bit curious, but I’m not sure if I really want to know.” Truthfully, he hadn’t even thought about it a while. Mama had always been there, she was the one who raised him, but there was that little nagging feeling in the back of his mind, that Mama was keeping something from him.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be pushing.” Ashton apologized, “I’m just curious about you.”
“It’s okay. It’s never really bothered me before.”
And besides, it’s not like he had any reason to keep anything from his mate.
But now that he thought about it, he knew he was just going to get more and more curious. Maybe it was time to pay Mama a visit?
Eli had a feeling he was going to be smacked silly.
I would have gotten this out sooner, but when I was trying to finish it, I started watching Smallville, and it sort of distracted me. Also, I might not be able to update as quickly as I did with the first part, due to personal reasons. This story will definitely be finished by the end of the month, but for the next few weeks I might not be in the best of the moods, and I really don‘t want to fuck up my story when I‘m not in the mood, you know?
In other news, the zompocalypse has started. The armadillo is only the beginning.
