Chapter Nine:

Naru and his boss returned to the office five minute late. As soon as they got out of the car, Ryuu’s cell phone rang. “Go in first Naru. I have to take this call.”

“Alright Boss.”

As soon as he walked into the building, Naru’s male and female coworkers surrounded and confronted him. “Naru, why are you staying with the boss? What did you do to get promoted when you are so clumsy? Did you sleep with the boss?” they asked him all at once.

“I believe that it is none of your business what I do or don’t do in my private life,” answered Naru.

“Tell us Naru, how did you get your position as a secretary when we all know that Susuki was the one who should have been promoted. He works harder than you. He is smarter and handsome too. How could an ugly, clumsy geek like you get promoted to secretary out of the blue? We won't accept it!”

Naru didn't give a damn about their opinion of him. He just smiled because he knew that it would infuriate them. “If you all have a problem with me, I suggest you take it up with the boss. Now if you will excuse me I have to return to my work,” he said in a calm manner.

“Now why would we do that? We aren’t stupid.”

Naru smirked at them. “Ah, I see now. You guys are a bunch of cowards. You figured that it would be much easier to take it out on me because I'm an ugly clumsy geek with no backbone. You guys are pathetic. Really pathetic.”

“We are going to beat the crap out of you nerd!”

“Naru, just answer our questions and we will leave you alone,” said a female coworker. She was wearing so much make up that it made her look like a clown.

“Why should I?”

“Because we will make your life here at work a living hell!” one of the guys threatened him.

Naru pretended to tremble with fear. “Oh! I'm so scared. Mother, Father help me!” then he burst out laughing.

One of the guys couldn't take it any longer and swung his fist at Naru but Naru caught it in midair before it came into contact with his face. He smirked at the man. “Your movement is too slow,” said Naru. “If you want I could teach you Judo. It’s my specialty.”

“Fuck you!”

Naru shook his head at the man. “How old are you Kenta five or six?”

“I'll kill you!”

“What the hell is going on?” Ryuu roared out loud.

The men and women jumped at the sound of Ryuu’s voice. They backed away and quickly scrambled back to their desk except for one. Naru smiled at his boss. “Hi Boss.”

“What is going on here Naru?”

“Nothing Boss. Kenta here asked me to teach him judo.” Naru let go of Kenta.

“I'll get you back, just you wait and see!” Kenta hissed right before he went back to his cubicle.

“Want to tell me what that was all about?”

“No,” answered Naru. He made his way to the elevator and pressed the button. His boss stood right next to him and he could feel his boss’ eyes on him. He sighed and turned to face his boss. "You know none of this would have happened if you had just made that stupid Susuki guy your secretary.”

“Who the hell is he anyway? I think I’ve heard his name before.”

“He’s this bastard who thinks that he's better than everyone just because he has the movie star look and a brain to go with it,” answered Naru.

“From the way you sound, I take it you don't like him very much?”

“You're right Boss. I hate his guts. I would rather get locked in a room with you than with him.”

“He's that bad huh?”

“Yup,” Naru answered. The elevator came to a stop on their floor and they both stepped out. Without saying another word they both went to their own place of work, Naru behind his desk, and Ryuu to his office.

It was almost time to go home, and Naru had just finished booking the last appointment for the day when the person he hated came walking out of the elevator and made his way over to him. Naru adjusted his giant glasses and gave the man his fake smile.

“What do you want Susuki?”

Susuki was a handsome man alright, he had to give the man credit for that. He had smooth black hair chestnut eyes, pale skin and always dressed in expensive clothes. All the girls and even the guys went crazy for him because of his looks more than his brain.

The boss called me up here. He said that he wants to see me,” the man answered him with a snicker.

“I'll let him know right away that you’re here.” Naru picked up the phone and connected to his boss. “Susuki is here to see you Boss, I will send him in right now.” He hung up and told Susuki that he could go in. He wondered what the hell his boss wanted with Susuki. He hoped it did not have anything to do with what happened earlier that afternoon.

"Have a seat Susuki.”

Ryuu waited until the man sat down. The man was gorgeous but not compared to Naru. Naru was ten times more gorgeous in Ryuu’s eyes. "I am going to cut right to the chase Susuki. You will replace Naru tomorrow and I expect you to do as good as a job as Naru. If you fail, you will be fired right away. Understood?"

Susuki practically jumped up from his chair. "Boss I'm really happy that you are giving me this chance and to show how much I appreciate it...” Susuki began to unbutton his shirt. Ryuu leaned back against his chair and sighed. He hated people like this but Susuki was the only one qualified to take over from Naru. Thank God that he would not be the one to deal with Susuki. Tomorrow he would be off on a plane with Naru to a home he hadn't seen for seven hundred years.

Naru’s eyes had been on the clock since Susuki disappeared inside. Twenty minutes went by. Susuki came out of his boss’ office wearing a smile on his face. His clothes looked like they had been put on in a hurry. The buttons were not buttoned properly. Susuki turned and snickered at Naru. “Guess what? I got your job!”

“Really? Congratulations then Susuki. I see that you are still the same as you were in high school. Still fucking your way up the ladder.” Naru said with a big fake smile on his face. This pissed off Susuki who then stormed away. “A nerd like you can't win over me Naru!” Susuki yelled out before stepping into the elevator.

“Actually I already did.” Naru saw the pissed off face on Susuki face right before the elevator door slid shut. He laughed until his boss came out of the office with his jacket and briefcase. Naru leaned back against his chair and stared up at his boss.

“So you fired me.”

“I didn't fire you Naru. I just had him replace you.”

“What’s the difference Boss between firing me and having me replaced?”

“There is a big difference!” retorted Ryuu, wishing that Naru would just let him finish explaining.

“You know what Boss? I thought that you were different, but it turned out that I was wrong. You are just like the rest of the people who work here.”

“You're wrong Naru. I'm not like that.”

“Yes you are!”

Naru stood up, grabbed his jacket and marched out of the room before his boss could even stop him. He ran down the stairs. Shit why the hell was he so mad at his boss for sleeping with Susuki? Everyone was snickering at him. They had all heard what happened. No doubt they had heard it from Susuki’s mouth. He ignored them all as he left the building. “Stupid boss, stupid coworkers!” he muttered. He waved a taxi over, got inside and told them where to go. Naru arrived at his boss house. He ran upstairs, packed a few of his things and got back into the taxi once more before telling the driver where to go.

Ryuu arrived home ten minutes after Naru left with his things. He slammed the door shut and marched upstairs to Naru’s room. He knocked twice and called out for Naru to open up. When there was no answer, he demanded that Naru open the damn door right now so they could talk. Still no answer. He swung the door open himself. To his surprise the room was empty.

“Where is Naru?” he yelled out. His butler came running over.

“Master Naru left ten minutes ago with his stuff Sir.”

“Shit!” Ryuu took his phone out, called Risa and asked to talk to Miku.

“You asshole. You lost my brother! What the hell did you do to cause him to run away?” Miku screamed out from her end of the line.

Ryuu quickly explained everything. “Shit, Naru didn't even let me explain my reason for having him replaced,” he muttered into the phone.

“What did you expect you asshole? Think long and hard about how you started your explanation to my brother. You really are an insensitive bastard. If anything happens to my brother, I will make you regret it you dumbass!” Miku hung up her face fuming mad. “Naru where the hell are you?”

Naoya had just gotten out of the shower and was getting ready to put some clothes on when some one knocked on his hotel room door. Who could it be, he wondered. He wasn't expecting anyone today. Still in his bathrobe, he went to answer the door. To his surprise, Naru stood hugging his small luggage bag in front of him.

“Uncle Naoya can I stay with you for a while?”

“Of course Naru, come in.”

Naoya shut the door and went to make Naru some tea. “What happened Naru?”

“My stupid boss fired me.”

“What! How dare he fire you!” Naoya said his voice filled with outrage.

“It’s okay Uncle Naoya. Thanks for getting mad on my behalf,” Naru said with a sad smile.

“I am going to take this bastard to court and sue him for everything he has. He must pay for what he did to you!”

“Let’s talk about this later Uncle Naoya. I'm really tired.”

“Alright, if you’re really tired go sleep in Kou’s room. He won't be back till later.”

“Thank you,” Naru said softly. Then he walked to Kou’s room, got inside and climbed into bed.

Rei was in the middle of a very good dream when his stupid older brother called. “What! Naru ran away? Why?” he asked his brother from his end of the line.

Ryuu sighed and repeated everything he had said earlier to Rei. “I'm worried about him Rei.”

“If you were worried about him then you shouldn't have replaced him. It’s too late to fix your mistake now Ryuu.”

“I had a very good reason for having someone replace him Rei.”

“Really Ryuu? Then do tell me your reason.”

Ryuu sighed once more and explained his reason for replacing Naru.

Rei couldn't believe his ears. Was this really his brother? “Ryuu are you really serious about this? You're really going to take him with you all the way over there?”

“Yes I am Rei.”

Rei smiled, “Ryuu I think I know where he is. Come pick me up in ten minutes and I'll take you there.”

Ryuu slammed his foot on the brake and drove toward his brother apartment. When he arrived, his brother was waiting by the stairs. Rei got in and told his brother where to go.

“I can't believe you’ve been out all night looking for Naru.”

“I don't know why I care so damn much about him. For God’s sake, I only just met him like a week ago. He has completely turned my life upside down ever since I met him on the plane.”

Rei chuckled. “My dear brother, you are head over heels in love with Naru.”

Ryuu turned to his brother, “I am not in love with him.”

“Sure. Whatever you say Ryuu, but I will just give you a word of advice. If you don't snatch him someone else will, and when it happens my dear brother you will regret it.”

“Shut up Rei.”

“Alright I'll shut up.”

They both did not utter another word for the rest of the drive to Naoya’s hotel. When they arrived, Rei led his brother to Naoya’s room. He had to knock about six times before a very sleepy Kou answered the door.

“What the hell do you want at this hour?” Kou muttered.

“Naru. Is he here?” Rei asked.

“Yes he is and what do you want with him?”

“My stupid brother wants to talk to him.”

Kou looked at Rei’s brother for a long while before motioning them inside. “Is your brother the one who made Naru angry?” Kou asked Rei.

“Yup and feel free to give him a good punch. I won't stop you because he deserves it.”

“I would but I don't think Naru would approve of it. He hates it when I get into a fight on his behalf.” Kou said as he led them to the room Naru was occupying.

“Really?” asked Rei.

“Yes. Naru doesn't like violence. He prefers to fight things out with words, and he’s good at it too. If you and I were to argue with him we would both come out as the losers. You get what I mean?”

Rei chuckled. “Yes.” They stopped in front of Naru’s room.

“Ryuu you get in there and apologize to Naru on your hands and knees if you must.”

Ryuu nodded his head and opened the door. He went inside. The room was dark with only a small lamp on. The light from the lamp allowed Ryuu to see Naru’s sleeping face. He closed the door quietly, walked over to the bed and sat on it. As soon as he sat down, Naru woke up.

It took Naru a few moments to realise that the man sitting on the bed was his boss. He sat up and stared at Ryuu. “What are you doing here and how did you find me?” he asked.

“Rei knows your uncle and he figured that you might be here,” Ryuu answered softly.

“Oh I see. I didn't know that at all,” Naru said softly. “By the way Boss, why are you here?” he asked.

“I came to finish explaining to you the reason why I had you replaced.”

“You mean there's more?” Naru asked, his sleepy eyes shot open wide by now.

“Yes there's more.”

“I see,” uttered Naru softly.

“Look Naru, I had Susuki replace you because my uncle is going to take over that company for me and I don't want you to be his secretary. Plus I will be taking you to England with me.”

“England! What? You’re taking me to England!” Naru almost shouted it out. His face showed how shocked he was at the news.

Ryuu grinned. “Naru tomorrow we are going to England.”

“ W-wait Boss! Why England? Why are you taking me there?” Naru asked, still shocked by the news. He had always wanted to go to England. It was one of the wishes his father had promised to fulfill for him.

“I have some business there, but the main reason why I am taking you with me Naru is to make your wish come true.”

Naru smiled brightly at his boss. “Boss are you planning to make all of my childhood wishes come true?”

Ryuu let out a soft chuckle. “Yes.”

"Thank you Boss," Naru said with a smile. "Now I can die happy.”

“You’re not going to die Naru.”

“It’s nice of you to say that Boss, but you and I know better than that,” Naru said with a sad smile.

“I'm not going to let you die Naru. Not until I get you back for all the pranks you played on me.”

Naru laughed. He looked directly at his boss after he was done laughing. “Boss did you and Suzkui…?”

“No. Nothing happened Naru. I was tempted, the man is gorgeous as hell like you say. But not compared to you Naru. You are the most gorgeous man I have ever seen.”

Naru blushed. “Boss, I guess you are not like those people after all,” he whispered and unconsciously he leaned against his boss’ chest. “I'm tired. If you don't mind Boss I would like to continue my sleep.”

Ryuu looked down at Naru and their eyes met. He lowered his head and kissed Naru on the forehead softly. "I'll be right here beside you when you wake up.”

Naru smiled and shut his eyes. "Boss, it’s nice not fighting with you.” That was the last thing he said right before his eyes closed.

Ryuu eased Naru down onto the bed and lay down beside him. He held Naru in his arms and shut his eyes. Naru was where he belonged in his arms. Ryuu smiled at that thought before he fell asleep.

It was really early in the morning. Everyone was sound asleep. Rei was asleep on the sofa across from Kou. Ryuu and Naru shared the bed. They were all sleeping when there was a loud knock on the door. Naoya woke up and came out from his room. He was surprised to see Rei asleep on his couch. He would have to ask Rei later what he was doing here asleep on his couch. Naoya quickly went to answer the door. He opened it to find nothing but a small package. He picked it up and read the label on it.

“To Naru. From your Prince Charming.”
