even the pain in our hearts is surely a bond.~ Yura Yura - Hearts Grow
Jaiden rose from his bed early the next morning. Sleep had not come easily to him. He'd lain awake in bed all night, staring at his ceiling. Seth was an enigma. Why was he always wanting to be so close to him? Jaiden stepped out of his room and was immediatley welcomed by a pleasent smell.
He walked down the hall. The smell was sweet. Jaiden's mouth was watering by the time he reached the kitchen. Seth was setting the table. He set a plate of steaming cinnamon rolls in the center.
"You made breakfeast?" Jaiden asked.
Seth looked up and smiled. "Yep. Consider me the official cook of the house now. Eat, they're really good warm."
Jaiden took a seat next to Seth. "Um...thank you." He picked up one and took a bite. "Oh! This is really good Seth!"
Seth chuckled. "The beast has tasted the fruit."
Jaiden quirked up an eyebrow. Seth shook his head. "Nevermind Jaiden."
Jaiden's COM beeped suddenly. He hit the button on the side and set it in the middle of the table. A figure was standing in the center. Jaiden dropped his roll onto his plate. This was a person he didn't recognize. No civilian could hack into a USER signal. This wasn't good.
"Good morning Jaiden." The figure turned it's head. "And good morning to you as well Seth."
"Who are you?" Jaiden asked.
The figure chuckled beneath the bone white mask it wore. "You'll learn my name later. But let's not focus on me, I want to focus on you."
"What do you want?" Seth demanded.
"I will address you later Seth. Right now, I must converse with Jaiden. After all, it's been fifteen whole years since I've last spoken with you face to face."
"How did you hack my signal?" Jaiden asked.
The figure chuckled. "I can do anything I want. Now, I wanted to ask you a very important question. How fast do you think you are?"
Jaiden furrowed his brows. "I don't understand."
"A murder by the DarkSades will take place in ten minutes. There will be two bodies, both female. No survivors. The location is block 7 of district 6. House 14." With that, the figure was gone.
"What was that-"
Seth jumped to his feet. "We have to leave! Now!"
"Seth, there is no way we can make it across town in ten minutes."
"We have to! That's my house Jaiden! Those two are my sisters!"
Not even dressing, Seth ran for the door. Jaiden quickly grabbed his guns from his room, and followed. They took the closest car, ignoring panicked looks from pedestrians who saw the theft and sped away.
++++++++
The blue car screeched to a stop in front of house 14. Seth jumped out and ran into the house. Jaiden followed closely. Seth tried the door, but it wouldn't budge. He turned to Jaiden.
"Wait here, I'm going to check around back." He said quickly.
Jaiden could feel the fear radiating of Seth. He nodded, and watched Seth go. He could already feel the vibes in his gut. His COM beeped. He pulled it out of his pocket.
"Jaiden, we have a mission for you. Two murders." Camille said.
"I know, we're already here."
"You are? How?"
"I'll explain later. I doubt the DarkSades are still here. Give me a day and i'll report in. Seth needs time."
Realization dawned on Camille. "I see. Very well, I'll tell Marco."
Jaiden turned off his COM and walked around back. He approached the back door quietly. The backyard was tore up. Deep trenches had been made in the grass. Signs of a struggle were already evident. He stepped up too the back door. The sun shone in, and he could see the smears of red on the white kitchen floor.
"Nononononono!"
Jaiden heard the sobs and followed the sound. As he drew closer, his gut twisted tighter. He turned the corner and froze. He had seen murder scenes before, but this was the worst. The poor girls weren't even in one piece anymore. There were bits of them everywhere. Blood covered everything. Seth was on his knees in the center of the room next to what Jaiden assumed was a torso.
"They're gone..." He choked, trying not to sob.
Jaiden felt the familiar pain welling up in his chest, making it harder to breathe. Where was this pain coming from, why was it familiar?
"They didn't stand a chance! They never saw it coming!" Seth yelled at no one.
-"Why were they killed!?" The little boy cried. "I want my mom and dad!"
Dark figures surrounded him on all sides, shaking their heads in pity and disgust.
The boy sobbed. "Why is there so much blood?"-
Jaiden walked over to Seth and kneeled beside him. He placed a hand on his shoulder. Seth gave into the sobs.
"Seth, I promise I will find who did this."
"No," Seth looked at him. "We'll find who did this. Together. I lost my sisters, but I'm not going to lose the man I'm falling in love with."
Jaiden broke the gaze. "Seth, love isn't something a USER-"
"I don't care!" Seth grabbed Jaiden's chin and forced his lips against the USER's softer ones.
Jaiden was unsure of what to do, having never been kissed before. Seth broke away from him.
"I'm not letting you leave me behind. We're together now, no matter what."
He looked around at the mess, tears blurring his eyes once more. "I can't stay here any longer. I can't look at them like this. Let's go home. I need to sleep or something."
Jaiden helped Seth to his feet. They walked out of the bloody nightmare Seth once called home. Jaiden tried not to look at Seth. He wasn't sure what to do or say. The kiss, while forceful, had made him almost dizzy. He'd never experienced that feeling before.
It scared him.
