For the first time, he could actually control the change, his anger was still there but he could not feel the berserker in him. The massive wolf turned to look at her.
She backed up again, then turned and ran. She was not going to wait around to see if he was going to try and eat her.
In a blink of an eye, the creature was in front of her again.
She yelled in surprise, began digging in her pocket. "I warn you. I don’t taste very good. You\'ll get a stomach ache." Her voice trembling as she backed up again.
He leaned really close, but soon started to laugh. He changed himself back to human form.
She watched him change again, He was laughing at her. "I don’t see what’s so funny."
“Your face.” he kept laughing and walked down the path from before.
Placing her hands on her hips, she glared. "You’re welcome."
She muttered to herself as she returned back to her part of the cave once she was settled again. She lit some incense, sat down and breathed in the sweet smell. Slowly her body relaxed and she closed her eyes. Her mind shut the world out, she only concentrated on her goddess, Freya.
She felt the familiar caress of her dream, she relaxed more. Opening her eyes, the hall of Freya’s temple greeted them. She bowed herself in respect.
"My mistress." she murmured.
Freya turned and looked at her handmaid. "Why do you call to me? I have no need of you." Slightly upset.
"Forgive me mistress but I felt it important."She slowly rodr up to meet her mistress\' gaze.
"MY NECKLACE, WHERE IS IT? HOW DARE YOU APPEAR BEFORE ME WITHOUT IT! YOU BREAK MY LAW?” She marched towards her handmaid, anger furrowing her brow, raising her hand to strike.
"But Mistress.”
"DO NOT MISTRESS ME!! DID YOU SELL IT OR LOSE IT? Probably sold it. I shall punish you for this."
"Please mistress, allow me to explain. I did not sell nor lose it." Her head touched the floor, her body trembled in fear.
"Then tell me where it is and perhaps your punishment will not be as harsh." Freya walked to her throne and sat on it.
"Well?"
She slowly lifted her head from the floor. "I gave it to your champion."
"My champion? What for? He has my protection and blessing."
"Yes Mistress but it is a cursed blessing. He turns into a beast killing anyone who comes within his site. I gave it to him hoping it would help him and it did."
"What are you talking about? My blessing was not cursed."
"Perhaps mistress you should see for yourself."
"Perhaps I shall." Standing, Freya walked to her mirrored hall.
The mirrored hall allowed the gods to look upon the human world seeing past or present. She stood before them and the mirror shimmered looking like water and images appeared. She watched as the champion turning into a beast of fury. His hands covered in blood, killing everything. She blanched as she watched the carnage. Anger filled her. What had happened? She felt the champion’s pain, she shrieked in her own anger and pain. The mirrors cracked some breaking completely. She whipped around and marched back to her hall. Rage on her face.
"I will find out what as happened here and when I do someone will lose their head. How dare they interfere with me?" She paced. The maid watched her, trembling even more. Freya stopped and looked at her. "YOU!"
The maid jumped. "Mistress?”
"Find my champion. Stay with him. I will do what I can to find out what must be done to correct this and when I do you will act quickly. Do you understand? "
"Yes mistress."
"Good, be gone."
She was thrown from her dream back to her body so quickly pain filled her for a few moments. She fell to her side, breathing hard. She opened her eyes, but the cave was blurry and her head spun. Closing them again she waited for it to pass, and then slowly sat up.
"You forgot to tell me where to find him." She mumbled to the air.
It took her some time to get her home in shape and supplies. Now over a week had passed since she saw the champion. She had cast stones and they had only told her North. So, north it was. Securing her pack on her back, she looked once more on the place she had called home and had never wandered far from then turned and began her search.
