Encroachment

Co-written with Aya Frost

Daisuike was pacing the living room. It felt like the phone was glued to his ear he'd been on it so much. They’d arrived at Ruka’s apartment just an hour before and he hadn’t been able to look at the man without blushing. Though he was a bit shocked at where Ruka lived. The massive apartment didn’t suit his personality at all, being too formal and almost cold feeling. It barely felt lived in. He was pacing in front of the low oddly shaped couch that defied all attempts at sitting on it.

"Hold on Hayate, someone is beeping in." He switched over seeing that it was Akira. "Hey Aki-what? Wait slow down and breathe. Breathe Akira! Damn it! I'm on my way, just hold on."

He hung up swearing softly. The only thing that had come through clear was Jiro. Something very bad had happened at the apartment and he needed to be there as soon as possible.

"Ruka, I'm sorry but there's been an emergency."

Ruka had changed clothes and checked his e-mail then sat to watch Daisuike pace. He wondered if Daisuike knew just how good his but looked in those jeans. His eyes snapped up to Daisuike’s face as he turned.

"We'll take my car."

He immediately grabbed his jacket heading towards the door. Picking his keys up along with his wallet and other necessities Ruka looked at Daisuike as they both headed out the door.

"Where are we going and what happened?"

The look in Daisuike's eyes bothered him. Apparently it had been something involving Daisuike's youngest brother. Wasn't he only 17? For some reason Ruka was starting to worry himself. What could've happened to him?

"My apartment. I'll give you directions." Daisuike followed him out as he tried to calm down. He hated hearing Akira that upset. Whatever had happened at the apartment, it was really bad. Akira had barely been coherent. He figured they'd get there to find Akira passed out on the floor. He just wondered why he was back at the apartment and where Reiko was at, she usually was able to keep him from having a panic attack. "We need to get there as quickly as possible."

"You got it." Ruka bit his lip as they got into the car following Suke's directions. He was probably scaring Suke with his driving again, but when he said quickly, he knew it had to be bad so breaking a few speeding laws was okay.

In no time they got there and both were hopping out of the car. As Suke bounded up the stairs Ruka kept a step behind him. The area wasn't the best, but then again they were Yakuza and it was their territory. It was strange to think of Suke as Yakuza though and would definitely take time to adjust.

Daisuike stopped in the hallway, his hand automatically going to his knife seeing the door hanging off it's hinges, only to feel the empty sheath. He'd forgotten he didn't have his knife any more. Waving Ruka back he cautiously peered into the apartment. Spotting Akira huddled on the floor next to the couch, he rushed to his side.

"Akira! Are you alright? What happened?" He didn't think he'd get an answer though with the way Akira was sobbing. Holding him, Daisuike looked around the apartment. The table had been shoved to the side and the chairs knocked over. There had been a fight of some kind.

"Oh shit."

Ruka was almost afraid to touch anything as he stepped inside seeing the mess that had been their living room. In the tiny apartment even one thing out of place would make it look messy and it was trashed right now. Carefully stepping around he walked towards where Daisuike and Akira were then stopped as he spotted something.

"Daisuike." When he looked up Ruka pointed towards the ground where there was blood on the wood floor. He wasn't sure what to say or do but he wanted him to know. There had definitely been some kind of fight and it bothered him to see Daisuike's younger brother so distraught. He knelt next to them unsure of what to do. Akira’s sobs were becoming less frequent but his death grip on his hair hadn’t lessened. Ruka was afraid he was going to pull it out.

Daisuike went and got Akira something to drink as he started to calm down.

"I-I'm sorry, Suke. I couldn't stop them."

"Who Akira?"

"The cops. They broke the door and arrested Jiro and then Reiko when she started yelling at them."

Daisuike sat on the floor next to Akira trying not to let anything show on his face. How had the cops known that Jiro had come back? He'd fucked up big time telling Jiro it was safe to come back.

"I'm sure you did everything you could Akira. Don't worry. I'll get this sorted out." He patted Akira's head looking around. How had he messed up so bad? Now it was affecting people who weren’t even involved. Though why the cops had arrested Jiro in the first place was still a mystery. "I'll go bail Reiko and Jiro out and you and Reiko can go back to her house until this is all over ne? I know how much you like spending time with her."

He looked up at Ruka not quite able to look him in the eye. "If you want to go home, I'll get this taken care of."

Ruka just shook his head standing up slowly. "No, I think I'll stay with you." Smiling down at him, Ruka then looked at Akira.

"Ne, Akira-kun. Do you want to come with us? We can go and get something to eat while we're out after we get Reiko-chan. Does that sound good?"

Ruka wasn't really used to dealing with kids, especially distraught and emotional ones, but he would definitely try. Reaching down he helped Suke up who then helped Akira to his feet.

"Mmm, is Reiko-chan your girlfriend Akira-kun?" Ruka smiled at him wanting to try and keep his mind off the situation.

Akira looked up at the man blinking a few times as Daisuike headed into the bedroom muttering something about getting his spare knife. Akria wiped at the tears, shoving the hair out of his face, embarrassed that one of Daisuike's friends has seen him like this. He was a little surprised at how good looking this guy was. He was really tall too, taller than Suke, but not by much. The blond hair reminded him a little of Ryuu. He looked away blushing at the question. "Ano . . . no, not yet anyway. Are you one of Suke's friends?"

Ruka grinned nodding, "I'm his boyfriend, Ruka.” Seeing the fallen bag he grabbed it slinging it over his shoulder, "Why don't you tell me about her? I can try and give you pointers if you want. I don't think Suke's probably much help in the love department, ne?"

Seeing the blush on Akira's cheeks he laughed. The boy was really cute, reminding him a smaller more feminine Daisuike.

Akira was already starting to like Ruka and smiled at him as Daisuike came back. He lowered his voice slightly so just Ruka could hear him. "He is, but he's really useful for other stuff. Like cooking. He's a really good listener too."

"Alright. I found it, and some extra cash. I doubt her bail will be much anyway." Daisuike looked back and forth between the two and raised an eyebrow. "Well, lets go."

Ruka smiled at Suke then slung his arm around his neck. "Sounds good, though I don't think we'll need to lock the door." He frowned a bit wondering if they should try and right it or just leave it. It bugged him to see that their house got destroyed.

"No one will try and steal anything right?" Ruka pouted a bit as they walked out of the apartment.

"It will be fine. I'll call one of the guys to keep an eye on it. No one would be stupid enough to steal from us." He gently slipped out from under Ruka's arm giving him a soft smile. As much as he like to have Ruka touching him, he didn't really want to do it around Akira. It still felt a little odd to him as it was.

"Do you have everything you need Akira?"

"Hai. Oh. I got your clothes in my bag too."

"Thanks. Lets go get Reiko, you've got school tomorrow." He was going to lean on those cops pretty hard about this. They had no right breaking into his home and causing his brother this much distress.

Ruka tried to not let the hurt show on his face as Suke slipped out from under him. He got it, he really did. No touching in front of little brother. It still bugged him though and he couldn't help being a little disappointed. As they got into the car Ruka thought for a moment trying to think of where the closest police station was. Remembering where it was he took off, keeping at a comfortable speed for his passengers.

When they got there Ruka slipped out of the car glaring at the building. To think that they arrested a young girl bothered him to no end, though if she was resisting they were pretty pathetic not to be able to control her.

Shaking his head he headed up the steps.

Daisuike stopped on the steps as Akira hung back. Sighing he walked back down to where he was standing his head bowed.

"Are you alright."

Akira shook his head not looking up.

"Reiko is going to want to see you Akira."

Akira looked up at him then past him at the building. "I hate these places."

"I know Akira. I do too, but we have to go in and get Reiko. You don't want her staying here any longer than she has to, do you?"

"No."

Daisuike smiled at him. "Come on. I'm here and so is Ruka and it's not like you've done anything. It will be fine I promise."

Akira glanced up at him flashing him a brief smile. Daisuike sighed and turned back to see Ruka waiting for them at the top of the stairs. His breath caught in his throat and he had to look down, overwhelmed at the sight. It still amazed him that Ruka was even here. How many people would have stuck around through all this shit?

"Sorry." Daisuike murmured as they finally caught up to him.

"Quit worrying so much. I want to be here and it's difficult for your family, so don't apologize."

Once inside Ruka was surprised at how uncooperative the cops were. He’d tried to comfort Akira as Daisuike had argued with them. Ruka had been surprised to see this side of Daisuike. It was definitely different. He had a temper on him and he looked amazing angry and aggressive. He wondered if he could get him riled up like that in bed and to see what he could do. Licking his lips he grinned excited.

Daisuike finally got the bail for Reiko negotiated and they brought her out. Ruka was shocked and appalled to see her lip busted and her face bruised along with bruises on her wrist. Akira immediately rushed over to her.

The cops then refused to let Jiro out and Ruka was afraid that something bad was going to happen. However, Daisuike just nodded, his face emotionless as he looked at the officer.

"Our lawyers will be calling first thing in the morning."

Reiko's smile widened a bit at Daisuike's words and she tilted her head to the side looking towards the officer who had a sour expression on his face.

"Don't worry. My lawyer will also be calling you, but it'll be within the hour." The smile faded from her face and she looked away moving closer to Akira huddling a bit near them. As they walked out of the police station she turned to Daisuike.

"I overheard a lot of things in there and Jiro will be released within 48 hours. They have no evidence, nor do they have an arrest warrant- yet. They can still get one but they don't have anything against him."

Ruka blinked seeing a sudden change in Reiko. Sure she looked beat up and before she had looked fragile, but now she had a venous tone to her.

"I also need to call my Uncle. He is going to be so pissed." She sighed running a hand carelessly through her hair and suddenly yelping in pain. Bring her hand back she blinked seeing dried blood fall from her hand.

"That's gross. . ."

"Should we take her to a clinic?" Ruka was kind of worried about her seeing just how beaten she was in the sunlight. Though even roughed up and bloody she was still very pretty. It was no wonder Akira seemed attracted to her.

Akira laughed at Ruka before looking up at Daisuike. "He's going to have to get used to Reiko, ne? Do you want to go to a clinic Reiko? I think I've got a kit in my backpack if you'd rather me clean you up."

Daisuike grinned relieved to hear Akira laugh. He hated it when Akira was stressed out and emotional. Mostly because he was the one person Akira felt comfortable confiding in, and because he was about the only person who could calm Akira down when he was having one of his episodes. Though, since he’d met Reiko last year things seemed to have evened out for the kid. He’d only had two major panic attacks in the last twelve months, down from one almost weekly in the few months he’d lived with them before starting school. Though Daisuike was pretty sure the new medication was helping too.

"If you don't have it Akira, I'm sure we can stop and get one, unless Reiko thinks she needs a clinic instead." Daisuike raised an eyebrow at her smiling, figuring he knew what the answer to that would be. In the year he’d known Reiko, she and Akira had come home bloody and bruised from fights several times, but she’d never consented to go to a clinic; preferring to have Akira patch her up instead. He moved a little closer to Ruka, not quite touching him but needing the closeness. He was starting to understand why Akira liked having Reiko around so much. It felt nice to have someone by your side when things weren’t going well. He was still going to need a drink, several even after this.

Reiko glared, "No, I'm fine. Aspirin and a medical kit would be nice though. I think they hit me with their gun. I don't remember much after the hitting the floor."

Ruka shifted closer to Daisuike as he ushered the two kids into the car, shutting the door behind Akira. As Daisuike started to open his door Ruka put a hand on it leaning forward, trapping the other man. Daisuike turned to look at him, the dark eyes questioning.

"If you need anything let me know okay?" Ruka leaned forward kissing him softly.

Reiko sighed as she leaned against Akira in the back seat. She blinked seeing how Ruka was standing in front of Daisuike. It was entirely too close for just casual conversation. She couldn't see what they were doing or hear them but she had an idea. From the way it looked to her they were-she smirked and looked down. Apparently Daisuike’s new friend wasn’t one to keep his hands to himself for long.

Daisuike nodded feeling his cheeks get warm. It was still taking him a bit to get used to Ruka touching him in public, much less kissing. He looked down before glancing back up at him.

"I'm sorry I got you involved in all of this. I really appreciate your help."

Akira glanced out the window somewhat surprised to see how close Ruka was to Suke. Normally if someone was that close to him he'd shove them away, but he didn't seem to mind Ruka at all. Akira smiled shifting slightly so that Reiko could get more comfortable.

"I really like Ruka. I’m glad Suke met him"

"He seems cool and really nice. Are they . . . dating?”

“I guess so. Ruka called himself Suke’s boyfriend when he introduced himself at the apartment. He’s really nice.” Akira turned so he could look at Reiko. “It’s a little weird to see Daisuike with someone though. Even when we were younger he kept to himself and didn’t have many friends. He seems to be really comfortable around Ruka though.”

"Well if Ruka's good for Suke. I approve." She grinned a bit before closing her eyes sighing a bit.

Hearing the car doors open and close she opened her eyes slowly looking at Daisuike.

"Before we eat I gotta make a phone call."

"You can do that after we order. Where do you all want to go? I know a few good places. I'll buy tonight so don't worry." Ruka looked at her in the rear view mirror.

Reiko looked over at Daisuike grinning as she smacked the back of his seat, "I like your boyfriend. He's trying to get in good with Akira and I. He already knows food is the best way to win our hearts."

Akira grinned seeing Daisuike blush. It had been a very long time since he'd seen that happen and it just reaffirmed his knowledge that Ruka was indeed very good for Suke.

"Oi! I want Chinese!"

"As long as you actually eat it." Daisuike glanced back at him. "Last time you only ate part of your order. I'm tired of throwing away food."

"They had really big portions at that take out place." Akira decided to change the subject. "Are you going to be staying with Ruka?"

Daisuike frowned slightly before glancing over at Ruka. "It looks that way. Why?"

Akira grinned, "Nothing, just wondering."

"Don't worry.” Reiko spoke up. “Akira will be eating a lot at my house too! Hitomi won't throw away food." Reiko grinned knowing she'd make Akira eat or else she'd kick his ass otherwise. He was too skinny and barely ate as it was.

"If you will eat Chinese we'll get real Chinese food. I know a good restaurant not too far. We'll go there." Ruka smiled heading the car towards the restaurant. It was a higher class place but he didn't care. He was going to treat these guys. After the day and week they've all had, they deserved it.

"Ruka drives fast." Reiko blinked at him kind of achy but enjoying the speed at which they were going.

"Yeah, I like to race too. Suke doesn't seem to enjoy it as much though."

Daisuike rolled his eyes and shook his head smiling. "Just because I'm not a speed demon about everything doesn't mean I don't enjoy it, Ruka."

"Yeah but compared to Ruka you drive like a ninety year old grandma."

"Oi! I do not. My truck just doesn't get up that fast."

Akira snorted, enjoying his chance to tease Daisuike. "Even I know you have to actually push down on the gas pedal Suke."

Ruka laughed shaking his head. "I'll take you guys with me sometime if you'd like."

"Really!? I wanna go!" Reiko leaned forward, pain forgotten in her excitement.

"Sure, there's a race next week so maybe you guys can come. Though I can't take you both in the car with me. It's a two seater and the extra weight would weigh me down too much."

Reiko grinned smiling excited about the idea.

"Sounds so cool!!"

"That would be awesome!" Akira was excited for a moment. "Oh, I can't . . . I have a concert this weekend."

Daisuike looked back at Akira. "It's alright. I'm sure you'll get to see him race some other time." He turned to Ruka. "What time is the race Ruka, maybe we can do both?"

If he got everything resolved in the next few days they might he might be able to, at least he hoped so. He wanted to see what Ruka was like on the race track if he enjoyed going this fast on the highway. That and he really just wanted to spend the time with him.

"They usually race around 7."

"Yeah. . . That's when Akira’s concert is. Take Suke to the concert!" Reiko grinned. To have Suke and Ruka spend more time together was a good thing. She hoped they got closer, she really liked Ruka. He seemed good for Suke.

Ruka smiled looking at Daisuike, "Want to go?"

"To the concert? Well, yeah but if it's the same time as your race . . ." Daisuike frowned. He didn't want to disappoint Akira by not going. He knew how much the band meant to him and it was only the what . . . fourth concert since he'd joined and they had the new drummer now too. But he also wanted to see Ruka doing what he normally did. He wanted to know everything he could about Ruka, that and he was kind of scared to have him meet Ryuu. The flamboyant lead singer was the most almost too much at times.

Ruka thought for a moment then nodded, "Alright. I'll skip the race and we'll go on a date to see Akira's band play. It might be interesting to see them play. What kind of band are they?"

"Punk with a bit of visual kei, but I think Ryuu is trying to make them a lot more VK than punk now that he’s the lead singer." Reiko smiled looking back and forth between Ruka and Daisuike. It'd be interesting to see Daisuike on a date. Originally she had thought it would've been weird to see him dating, but with Ruka it was. . . normal. Like it was just how it was suppose to be.

"Sounds good. We'll do that."

Daisuike settled back in the seat watching Ruka instead of the road. It made him less nervous. He absentmindedly reached over brushing a stray piece of hair away from Ruka’s face. He could easily stare at Ruka all day. Part of him couldn't wait to get back to his apartment. He blinked realizing where his mind had wandered. He took his hand down feeling his face get warm all over again. Why did Ruka have such an effect on him?

"Ano, what songs are you going to be playing this weekend Akira?" He needed something to get his mind off of things, specifically Ruka, for the moment.

Ruka smiled as he drove listening to Daisuike and Akira's conversation only half listening. He was anxious to get food and head home. As nice as Reiko and Akira were he wanted to be alone with Daisuike again. His body was already craving to feel that soft skin against his own and hear the way he would cry out in pleasure. It just wasn't fair. Licking his lips he saw that they were at the restaurant. Getting out he tossed the keys to a valet helping Reiko out.

"We're here."

"Eh!? Seriously?" Reiko stared at Ruka, "I don't think they'd let us in with what we're wearing."

"I got connections."

Reiko sighed shaking her head. Why wasn't she surprised? Then again they had been in a BMW.

If there was one thing that really bothered Daisuike it was being under-dressed. The restaurant Ruka had chosen was very nice, too nice for the way they were dressed, but Ruka didn't seem to notice in the least.

Daisuike smoothed out the wrinkles in his shirt and tried to adjust Akira's collar and got his hands slapped away and a dirty look. Sighing he followed them in keeping close to Ruka.
