The End is Near

Rating: nothing bad that’s to come in the next chapters.

A/N: some of it is rushed, so please forgive the crappyness at some parts. The fighting I think sucks…… need to work on that. Well on to the story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dryden stood in the forest looking around; he could hear the others moving towards the village. Just then a white wolf flew out of a patch of trees. It came running and slid to a stop in front of Dryden. The white wolf’s shoulder height was six feet and its body length was twelve feet. Black marks ran under the eyes and its ears and tail were tipped with black. “Demi.” The wolf whined and walked up to him only to nudge his shoulder with his nose. “What is it Demi?”
A voice flitted in his mind. ~Come. Now! ~
He ran his hand over the muzzle, “Let’s go then.” Just then there was a crash off to the side of him. Reaching into his back pocket he pulled out a sheathed knife, pulling off the sheath he waited for the cause of the noise. With a flick of his wrist it became a short sword and he attacked.
There was a clang.
He kicked out at the Hunter and slashed at him, missing. They jumped back, just as three more attacked. ‘Ambush.’ Demi snarled and he turned to see four more keeping him busy. There was another clang of metal and he glanced at the Hunter. The man was shocked he had blocked an attack without even looking. All four watched as Dryden shifted his feet, the hunter moved to counter only to have Dryden disappear.
“Huh?” He turned to see one guy drop to the ground, “Wha… where did he go?” He spun around and looked; his teammates were looking around also. He turned back around to look over at the wolf only to find it laying on the ground looking over at them. The other team lay dead on the ground, their throats sliced open. “Fall back!” they start to run for the woods when Dryden appeared, he tipped his head back and to the side looking at them a wicked smile on his face.
“Ya think I’m going ta let ya get away. No one is supposed to know I’m here.” He flicked his short sword. He started walking toward them, they turned and ran. Dryden ran after, he jumped up and took out the faster runner; knocking the person down he slammed the sword into his back. Making quick work he went after the other two. They fell to the ground dead. He spun around and blocked an attack from behind.
Then the person dropped to the ground a dagger stuck out of his back, “Phew, I thought I’d miss.”
Dryden looked up to see Luka, “Darian!” and his other brother. Luka walked up and pulled out his dagger, which was different from the other two. The blade was sharp on both sides; it had a guard that wrapped over Luka’s knuckles that one sharp edge followed. There was a hole next to the handle that Luka had his finger through and was spinning.
“We were ambushed on the way,” Luka motioned to Darian, “I saw that guy take off pass us and followed him.” He heard a growl from the guy next to him and watched as he walked forward.
“What in the hell are you still doing here?” Darian was walking up to Dryden and then he had the boy by the ear. “Get yer ass on Demi and get to the grounds.”
“Ow owowow, okay, okay, I’m going, I’m going.” He had Dryden next to Demi when he let go, Dryden quickly delivered an elbow into his gut. Jumping he climbed up onto the wolf and stuck his tongue out. He sheathed his short sword and stuck it in his back pocket.
He turned to Luka who was wiping off his dagger on the cloths of the dead body. “You go with him, since I know from what Zachariah told me in the letters that you saved his ass from that bastard.” Luka blinked and open his mouth but Darian stopped him, “Everyone else will be okay. Besides I need to help mother back down I’ll be going with you guys.”
“Might as well come he can be very persuasive,” Luka gave him a look, “trust me.”
Luka sighed and walked over, only to stop when Demi growled at him, “He’s not going to bite me.”
“Demi behave,” Dryden leaned over and held his hand out, “Now come on.”
Luka reached up and Dryden pulled him up as he climbed up the side of the wolf. “What do I hold on?”
“Wrap yer arms around me and hold on tight.” Dryden gripped the fur and whistled. Demi turned and took off running.
“How fast can he run?”
“He can keep up with a sand rail.” He pulled himself closer to Demi’s body, “Lean in closer, Demi run top speed.” The wolf barked and pushed himself. Dryden glanced back to see Darian was right behind them on a gray wolf.
Luka watched as the forest blurred by. They ran at that speed for ten minutes when they reached a cliff. Demi jumped from ledge to ledge up the face of the cliff, “How long till we get there?”
Dryden laughed and looked back, “To fast for ya?” Luka gave him a dark look and the small teen smirked. “Fair is fair I rode the horse you ride Demi.” Once they reached the top of the cliff they stopped and looked down, “Over there. See that’s the Village.” Luka looked at the forest stretching out below them, “Which way is your home?”
Luka glanced at him and then he smiled. Looking off to the side he pointed, “You see that large tree over there, that’s the center of my home.” Dryden looked out where he was pointing, “From here it should be about two weeks to get to the edge.”
“Dryden we need to go mother is waiting.” Darian had his wolf walking passed them.
Dryden turned his head and patted Demi on the head. “Let’s go I want to get this over with.”
~Yes.~
Luka glanced at Dryden and sighed, he placed his hand on his head, “You want me to wait.” Dryden shook his head, he saw Darian get off of his wolf. “I’ll see you down there right?”
“Demi down.” Demi lay down and Luka jumped off. “Hopefully.”
“What do you mean by hopefully?” Dryden dropped to the ground and was already walking up to Darian. “Dryden?” He followed after him.
Dryden looked back at Luka as he took his short sword out. “A lot can happen in there.” He handed it to Darian. He was about to walk passed him when Darian grabbed his arm. “Fine.” Dryden reached into his other back pocket and pulled out a pocket knife.
“Is that all?”
“How did you know?”
“It’s been missing since you left.” He smacked him in the back of his head, “Never take my knife, I had to buy a new one when it went missing. You had it all this time.”
“For good luck.” He placed it in his hand, “I figured if it brought you good luck it would work for me.”
Luka glanced over his shoulder at the knife. “That brought you good luck.”
“I used it every time when I went hunting.” He stopped and looked at him, “Did you take it before or after dad took you.”
“Before, he wanted to take me out to learn how to hunt. So I saw it and grabbed it. He didn’t know I had it on me.” Dryden smirked and turned, “Oh have you seen dad.” He pointed at his eye.
Darian blinked, “Are you saying you almost took out his eye?”
“Yep.” Dryden squatted and took off the silver anklet; turning to Luka he placed it in his hand. “Hold on to it. I can’t have it on when I’m in there.”
“Why?”
“It might melt; it gets really hot in there.”
“How hot?”
“Hotter than the desert.” He turned to Darian, “Make sure he doesn’t get killed.”
“Hey!!” Darian chuckled and ruffled Dryden’s hair.
“I’ll take good care of him.” Dryden swatted his hand away and walked over to a rocky wall. He placed his hand on it and walked through it.
“Is that normal?” Luka asked.
“Yep.” Darian dropped onto the ground and looked up at Luka, “What is he to you?”
Luka glanced down at him, “Ask him when he gets out.” He sat down and sighed, “How long does this take?”
“Don’t know.”
“Then it wouldn’t be a problem for you two to come with us.” Luka and Darian slowly turned around.
“You!”
“Hello Luka.”
‘Fuck!’
Dryden stopped and looked around; it was like a temple then a cave. The pillars that held the ceiling up had dragons twisting up them toward the ceiling; their tails held onto torches the lined the walkway to a giant door made of a dark stone. The walls, pillars, and the ceiling were made of a dark marble, “Never expected it to look like this.”
“Ahh!” Jumping away he found another teen that looked like him. Standing next to him, he turned green eyes onto him.
“Good you two made it here.”
“Mom.” The woman was as tall as Dryden. She had pale white hair and looked younger than she was. Her eyes were a dark purple and her skin was a pale tan. “It’s good to see ya.” She had a graceful stride, but the way she held herself screamed strong. The woman was wearing a long white robe that stopped at her ankles and covered her hands, a pale red one was on over it.
“Well don’t I get a hug?” Dryden rushed over and hugged her tightly. “Shhh, everything will be alright.”
“Yer still clinging to her?” the small teen glanced back at him and growled. “Come on grow up, ya did that all the time when ya were younger.”
“Who the hell are…?”
“Mom will you fix him.”
“Troy.”
The teen sighed and walked off to the side, “I’ll be getting ready.”
“Adelle, I need to remove the block.” He turned around and looked at the woman behind her. She had long white hair and pale purple eyes. She was shorter than Adelle and had on a skin tight dark red outfit on under battle armor.
“Yes I know.”
“After words I’ll go outside and help in the Village.”
“Block, what block?” Dryden stepped back, “What did ya block in my memories?”
“Kaida.” She turned to Dryden, “You’ll see in a minute. Please forgive us; we all wanted to do this to help you.”
Kaida turned Dryden around grabbed his chin. Their eyes locked and his whole body became relaxed, “When I snap my fingers you’ll remember everything.” She snapped them and the small teen blinked.
He dropped to his knees and lowered his head. A foot collided with him head, “What the hell?”
“Now that ya remember me let’s get yer ass changed and dressed up.” He grabbed the back of Dryden’s vest and dragged him to the changing room. Stopping at the door he glanced back at him mom, “Are ya sure this will work?”
“It should.” Troy tossed Dryden in and pulled out his clothes.
“Put them on.” He pulled his clothes off and reached for the other clothes. Dryden pulled on the shorts that stopped below his knees, picking up the shirt he pulled it on and found it sleeveless. He glanced at Troy, “What I’m stuck with sleeveless too. Now turn around I’ll help with the rest.” Dryden looked in the mirror. His left shoulder was covered in armor, along with his lower arms and his shins. “The one thing I like about these cloths is that there fire resistant, even though there tight as hell. Well not as tight as yer friends, by the way how was yer night with him?”
“What!?” Dryden turned red.
Troy looked up and grinned, “Don’t worry I didn’t peek.” After he secured the shin guards into place stood up and dusted his hands off. “Well that color does good on ya.” Dryden stared at himself as Troy stood next to him. His armor was a ruby red, a sliver dragon wrapped around a sword was on the shoulder guard and silver was edged around the bottom of the arm guards near his hands. Troy had the same color armor only where there was silver on Dryden there was gold on Troy. Both of them had on dark red shirts with black pants. “It sucks when ya look alike.”
“Dido. This whole time I thought I didn’t have a twin.” He lowered his head, ‘If I hadn’t trusted father.’
“Ya know if all of this didn’t happen ya wouldn’t have met Luka.” Dryden looked at him, “This all happened for a reason.”
“I guess when ya put it like that…”
“My little boys look so cute.” Adelle came out of nowhere and hugged both of them.
“Mom!!!” They both yelled.
“Now come on the quicker this is down the faster I can get down there and kick that man back out on his ass.” Dryden smiled at this. “By the way, I want to meet this Luka person. Will you point him out after you two claim your spot?”
“Wait both?”
“Yes, you and Troy where always going to take over together, But after that day it was going to be only you, and then I remembered that you get one wish granted from the dragon himself.” She giggled and hugged them tighter, “I’m going to have my two babies back.”
Soon both of them were standing outside of the dark doors which had two more dragons carved into it; the eyes of the dragons were red rubies. “So, open the doors together?”
“Ya scared?”
“No. You?”
“No way in hell.” Both of them reached out and placed their hands on the door and pushed. It groaned and slowly opened up; as soon as they had it opened they stopped.
A giant dragon made of stone sat looking down over a spot on the floor. “Enter.” Walking forward they both jumped when the doors slammed shut. “Come here, I can’t see you two.”
They walked forward up to the circle, looking down at the circle they found a picture of three dragons flying down from the clouds in the sky. Dryden closed his eyes and opening them he looked up at the stone dragon. Troy smirked when he saw him do this, ‘you have changed so much.’
“You two went through so much. Sit we shale start with the first task.” Dryden folded his legs under him and Troy followed him. As soon as they were sitting flames erupted around them. Blocking them in, “First call out your spirits and let’s see what they think of you.” Two dragons made of flames appeared in front of them; they both turned and looked at the giant dragon. “Speak.”
Luka slammed his shoulder against the door. “Luka, will you sit the fuck down.” Aiden yelled, “You’ve been slamming your shoulder against that door for the last hour.”
Looking back at Aiden he growled, “Their sitting outside of that place waiting for Dryden to come out so they can kill him.”
“Damn Luka sit down.” Zachariah was sitting in the corner of the room looking at him, “All we can do is wait for mother to come and get us out and then we can get Dryden.” Ari sighed and stood up, placing her hands on his shoulders she steered him away from the door.
“Sit down and take a breather.”
“I’ll kill the bastard when I get out of here!” Ari patted him on the shoulder as he growled at the door, just then the door opened and Adelle was pushed in. Darian stood up and caught her before she fell to the ground.
“Mother, are you okay?”
“Yes I’m fine. I left to come check on you guys but was jumped as soon as I left.” Luka gapped as he looked at Adelle. When she stood up her eyes landed on Luka and then the necklace. “Well that’s a surprise; the son of my best friend is standing in front of me.”
Aiden was standing up now, “Best friend, so you know what Luka is?”
“Now I see. She all ways did like her games.” Adelle sat down on one of the chairs in the locked up room. “Hmm, if I’m right your half human right.”
“Yes.” he looked away.
“I won’t tell you if you look like that. You should be proud of who you are not what you are, just because your human makes you no different than me or the rest of the people around you. You have goals, you fall in love, and I see you want to help someone out. Let me guess your Luka right.”
“Yes.”
“So you’re the one who helped Dryden.” She stood up and walked over to him. Adelle pulled him down and hugged him around his neck. “Please cheer up you have people who care about you.” She glanced at Aiden as she let go, “Tell me who he takes after the most.”
“Aquaria.” Both of his friends said. She smiled and looked up at Luka.
“Then let’s get to the part you find out what your mother was.” She turned and laughed, “But you have to find the true name. Let’s see ocean dwellers, as your mother would call it, are also call Oceians. Well that one of the many names.” Adelle turned and looked at him, “Like us your ancestors were one of the first races on this world.” She glanced at his shoulder and he covered it, “I take it that’s from the door. Come here we need to fix that.”
“It’s not that…”
“Sit!!” he stepped back, “I said sit!!” Luka stepped forward and sat down on the chair as she worked on his shoulder, “Listen, they’re going to be coming back here in a couple of days so you all need to be ready to fight your way out of here.”
They all nodded and Luka shook his head, “I’ll get out and cause a distraction.”
“Then we’re coming with you!” he looked over to Aiden and smiled; “Besides someone needs to cover your ass out there.”
“Fine then when they come to get you three, go. We’ll find a way out ourselves.” Luka glanced at her and smiled. “Take care of yourself Dryden will need you the most later.”
He wondered what she meant by that but he’ll ask later now he had to plan. As soon as they got out they would need to act fast.
Dryden sat there waiting the small dragons had giving their opinions and now he was waiting for the giant dragons verdict. Troy glanced down at his hands, he knew his wish. What would Dryden do?
“You two what are your wishes?”
Dryden slowly stood up and Troy followed. But it was Troy who spoke first, “You all ready know my wish, so I’ll be leaving.”
“So you don’t wish for a new body?”
“No.” He turned and was about to leave when Dryden spoke.
“But I do.” He stopped and looked at him. “Troy gave his life for me, so my wish is for him to have his body back, as if he hadn’t died.”
“I see. Then,” flames around them opened up and lead down a path to their right, “follow the path, this is the last thing you need to do.” They walked down the path as the dragon spoke one last time. “Do not let the fire consume you for you will die.” A door opened and they walked in.
A wall of fire appeared in front of them. Remembering what their mother told them, they walked forward into the flame. Once on the other side they both sat down Indian style. Troy looked over to him, “Why?”
“I’m going ta need yer help. Plus ya want a piece of dad right?”
“Thanks.”
Dryden already rested his hands on his knees and sat with his back straight. Troy folded his hands in his lap and closed his eyes. Looking in front of him, Dryden wondered if everyone was okay and then he slid his eyes closed. Now they had to learn to control their powers.
Minutes passed as he felt the heat rise. He could see the flame as it got bigger, reaching out he tried to grab it only to burn himself. Growling he reached out and this time he grasped it ignoring the pain as it shot up his arms. It slowly disappeared as his mind fought to let go, then it disappeared. A ruby red dragon appeared in front of him growling and snarling.
It fought against its chains that held it back.
Untamed.
Just like him.
He may act tamed but you never mess with a wild animal. Walking forward he reached out and grabbed the weak and brittle chains. Then he gripped the chains just as the dragon swiped at him. They both stood and growled at each other, he will win. The chain broke and fell apart in his hands, it lunged at him and he grabbed the metal collar around its neck. Pulling himself up he climbed up onto its snout and stared it in the eyes.
I will win!
It roared and he smirked.
Make a deal.
The dragon stopped.
He jumped from the snout and it lowered its head. The dragon lunged at him one more time and he smirked.
Wrong move.
As soon as it hit him its whole body became flames and he let the fire consume him. Only to have it rush into his hand, he stared at it. A small dragon stood and roared at him, he closed his hand around it and the flame disappeared.
I win.
Dryden’s eyes snapped open and he smirked, he looked down at his hand. “What took ya so long?”
Troy was leaning against a wall. “Had a little trouble.”
“Really.”
Dryden stood up, “How is yer new body?”
“Well my hair is back to normal. Not that blue color.”
“What wrong with blue hair?”
“On you okay, me not okay.” Dryden sighed and shook his head, “What?”
“Nothing, how long have we been in here?”
“Three days.”
“Let’s go.” Dryden walled toward a light on the wall, now to get the hell out of there.
Aiden cried out in pain as he took a hit that was aimed and Luka. “Aiden!” He quickly pulling his shirt off he tossed it to Ari, “Stop the bleeding!”
Ari was next to his body, she placed his head in her lap, “Hold on.” Ripping the shirt up she pushed the bigger piece onto the heavily bleeding back wound and tied the rest around his upper torso to hold it in place. She looked up to see Luka pushed down onto his knees.
Everything was going fine, why didn’t he see the person. The attack happened so fast and the next thing he knew Aiden is on the ground bleeding. She could hear his heart beat starting to slow down, “No!” Ari held onto him her eyesight became blurry.
“Aiden.” He was being dragged away now, ‘No!’ Luka jerked against the men pulling him out, “Aiden!!”
Aiden smiled at him his lips moved, “Sorry…” The lioness shushed him and ran a hand through his hair. The last thing he saw was Ari, holding onto Aiden, crying.
He was pulled out the door, “Aiden!!!”
Ten minutes passed. Luka watched as people looked out their doors at him, his necklace was lost in all the confusion so everyone knew what he was. His head hung as he was lead to the center of the village. The village itself was a good size it took ten minutes to get from the outer area to the center. Luka saw the man who had taken him and Darian. His pale yellow eyes and black buzz cut stood out.
From what Dryden had told him one day, the ass had his hair burned off by Dryden. The ass was also the one who had shown up at the camp that day. Luka was shoved down onto his knees and his head pushed down. What would happen if Dryden appeared? He closed his eyes and waited for the blade to drop.
The wind blew through the center of the village and he started laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
“All of you are so dead when I get free.” He lifted his head up, “And I’ll save you for last.” He smiled as the two people holding him down burst into flames, there were two loud thuds and he flipped back cutting the rope around his wrists. Jerking the daggers out of the wood, he blocked one attack and stabbed at one person. He sliced through two more people and ran at the yellowed eyed person. There was a clang of metal as a sword blocked his dagger. “I should have killed you that day, Rollin.”
“The day I left the city or the day I walked into camp?”
“Both.” Luka kicked out and knocked his feet from him, going into kneeling real quick he brought his arm down only to be blocked and pushed away.
“You were always looking for something. Did you find it?”
He stood as tall as Luka; they clashed again and Luka growled, “Go to hell.”
“You’re not the only one who told me that.” Luka felt his feet slide across the ground. “If I remember right he should have an x across his back.”
Luka’s eyes grew darker and he smirked, “Thanks for reminding me of that.” He quickly shifted his hands and pushed his sword to the side, knocking him off balance.
“Luka catch!” Luka jumped back and placing his dagger in his mouth, his hand shot out and caught something. Rollin growled and rushed him, Luka opened the flask. He quickly glanced over to see Ari standing off to the side, “Kill the fucker!”
He jumped to the side and let the flask take the attack. It was cut and instead of splashing onto him it wrapped around the hand that held onto the sword. Luka pulled his dagger from his mouth and smiled, “The reason I don’t use this attack is because it’s unpredictable and it has a mind of its own.” Luka walked up and dodged an attack, “it will slowly numb your arm till you can’t use it. Spreading till it reaches your heart.”
“But it works to slow.”
“Does it? Like I said a mind of it own.”
He tried to life his arm but it didn’t move, “What?”
Luka appeared behind him and placed his dagger to his throat, “I could kill you now, or let you suffer.” He looked down at the water that was slowly moving along his arm, “Maybe I should suffocate you or should I take you back to the city with me?” Rollin laughed at this.
“So they can feed me to the wild animals?”
“Nope.” He stepped away and shoved him forward on to the ground. “I’ve decided, I’ll let it kill you.” He walked passed him and he would of left him to die if Rollin hadn’t gotten up.
In a last burst of strength he charged him. Luka stopped and he spun around his dagger flew from his hand. Rollin stumbled and dropped to his knees and then his body hit the ground. Walking over to the body he flipped him over and reaching down pulled his weapon from his throat. Then he pulled another from the man’s chest, “Really Dryden did you have to throw it?”
Dryden dropped down next to him, “if I had been later, there would be no head on yer shoulders.”
“How’s Aiden?”
“Troy said he was fine.”
“Troy?”
“I take it Zachariah didn’t tell ya.”
“Yep.” Dryden knelt down next to him and smiled, “Me and him use to be buddies.” He had pointed at the dead body.
“Like you and Aiden?”
“No, a little lower.” Luka stand up and watched as the water fell to the ground. “Bastards lucky I wasn’t that pissed.”
“Dryden!” he turned to find Troy running up to him, “Mother went after father. We need to stop her.”
Dryden nodded and took off running, Troy was next to him.
Luka wiped his dagger off, “So that’s Troy. You didn’t think about telling me this.” He turned to find Ari walking up to him, his canteen in hand. He took it from her and she smiled, “They look alike, give or take a few things.”
Ari waited till he was drinking the water to tell him, “Their twins.”
Luka choked and spit the water out, “What?”
Grabbing his arm she pulled him along. “Aiden is sleeping right now and we need to find the rest of them.” Just then Darian came out of nowhere and stopped them.
“Where’s Dryden?”
“They went after their mother why?” Ari asked.
“Mom knows she’s not going to live through this fight.” Luka paled and looked back. “Tell me you knew your mom was a psychic.”
“We had our suspicions.” Luka said, he turned and looked at him, “Why?” The words from Adelle echoed in his head.
“Dryden can’t witness her death. It would kill him.” Luka took off after Dryden.
“Luka!”
He kept hearing the words, ‘She knew the whole time.’
“Dryden will need you the most later.”
