Chapter 9 – Rivalry

Alex woke in the morning and suddenly realized he was not out in the forest where he should be. And he wasn’t able to recall anything that had happened except for a burning sensation that ate at him. He sat up feeling not bad yet not great either shaking his head he noticed his seed laid around his sheets making him wonder if he had mated he hoped so he wanted to ensure his line lived for a very long time yet he could not recall anything.

Eva rested against the cell wall and giggled as she felt Alex’s frustration of not being able to remember what he did the night before, she knew things were going to be getting a lot better soon and she will finally be able to move out of this musty cell. She sat there wondering how the night between Shawn and Clarissa went, she hoped that she would be enough to get Shawn off her case and more focused on starting a family, if worse came to worse she would turn him into her puppet as well.

“How did everything go Shawn?” asked Alex as they returned to the den.

Shawn grinned happily at him and said “Great, Clarissa came to me,”

Alex smiled "I told you she would, good to hear you two have become mates, no problems?”

“No, there wasn’t any trouble are you feeling better?” asked Shawn.

“Good and yes I am, I don’t know what happened, I can’t even remember anything aside from this burning,” said Alex.

"Are you sure it isn’t that damn vampire? That she isn’t vexing you? I really think we should kill her or let her go one or the other," said Shawn.

“Letting her go would be bad, I know that vampires sort of have a genetic memory that they learn everything of their masters. We could get some useful information from her when it surfaces,” said Alex.

“She also doesn’t seem to need to feed, she’s been here almost two weeks and she still hasn’t fed yet. That’s very unusual for a fledgling,” said Shawn.

Alex nodded "Not to mention it seems she has really caused no trouble so odd even for her, Helena did say that she was different somehow,"

“I wonder what that means?” asked Shawn.

"I wish I knew," Alex sighed "Perhaps what Helena said was right she is not the usual vampire, we need to start preparing for the Lycan council meeting,”

“Yeah, we have to do something about the neighboring pack,” said Shawn.

Alex nodded as he stood up they had been trouble for a while now and hopefully the council would help them in this dispute more then likely it would end with him and the other pack leader in battle, unknowing to the pair of Lycan ears Eva listened carefully smiling this was the opportunity she had been waiting for she could use Alex to get to some of the council all she had to do was seduce the majority of them and perhaps have Alex trade her to one of them. She decided that perhaps she could push her power into Alex and try and use him to control the other leaders.

In the mean time she needed to keep Alex under her power she sat up with a yawn looking into the bowel she guessed prisoners that ate used she looked into it noticing her eyes were becoming a bright gold and the markings were darker then ever she smiled at her new appearance pleased at the changes.

“Are you ready to deal with this Shawn?” asked Alex as they walked into the council chambers.

“Yeah, I’m ready to support you Alpha,” said Shawn.

Alex got up and looked at his second "Come we must get ready then," he said as he turned and walked through the aisles and took their seats at their pack’s table.
Each table had only four people which was: Alpha male, Alpha female, Second male and his mate these were the four that represented each pack.

“Glad you could join us Clarissa,” said Alex.

She smiled and nodded "Thank you Alpha I will ensure I do not let you down,"

“Alex, the negotiations aren’t going well,” said Marissa the alpha female.

Alex looked at her "What’s going on?" he asked his voice seeming annoyed.

“They are refusing to accept our right to the lands which are rightfully ours,” said Marissa growling.

Alex stood up and growled "Looks like we must do it the hard way then," he walked over to the council knowing he would have to fight the other Alpha to settle this.

“Councilor, I challenge Alpha Santos to a duel on the grounds that he refuses to accept our right to lands that belong to us,” said Alex.

Santos smiled "I accept Alpha Rachi," he said with a sneer and leapt from his pack table.
Alex snarled at him as he approached him on the large duel area set out in front of the council table. Eva smiled deciding now would be the time to put her powers into action she closed her eyes slowly going into his mind.

Alex tensed his body as the giant approached him, Alpha Santos was twice as large as him. Then he felt a burning sensation begin flooding through his body, it set his nerves a light with a fire.

His eyes went from a calm shade of green to a glowing golden haze he gave a loud howl, feeling this overwhelming amount of power flood through his body. Santos froze as he watched the power build up in Alex’s body. He ducked as Alex struck out at him barely missing him.

Santos snarled as he barely dodged another of his attacks, he could see the fury and rage in his eyes, trying with all his might to fight back but it seemed he could not even touch him as Alex agilely evaded his blows. He gasped out in pain as Alex landed a solid punch to his gut.

He could not believe how strong the punch was he could taste blood yet he did not see Alex as he gave him a swift blow to the head causing him to fall. He had severely underestimated Alex’s strength as he was struck by another crippling blow, he swept his feet out and made contact with Alex’s legs but didn’t even seem to move him.

Alex sneered at Santos almost as if he was taunting him grabbing his throat squeezing it tightly, He growled into his face “Do you cede our rightful lands to us?”

"Yes,” he breathed as he struggled for air.

“Good,” snarled Alex as he let him drop to the ground gasping for breath.

“The matter has been resolved,” called the head councilor.

Eva pushed herself from his mind smiling knowing had she not been there he would have lost, his eyes were now the normal green they once were.

“What was that?” asked Shawn as Alex sat back at their table.

"What was what," he asked as he took his seat.

“Your eyes were glowing Alex,” said Marissa.

"Huh really?" he said confused

“All this weird stuff has only been happening since we caught that vamp,” said Shawn.

"Perhaps," Alex muttered drinking some cider.

“I agree with the second Alex, she’s dangerous. She doesn’t act or behave like other vampires,” said Marissa.

"We will go to Helena in the morning about it to see what she has found," Shawn said.

“Ok, I’m interested to hear what she has to say about her anyway,” said Alex.

They both nod, as another wolf came by "Alpha Rachi the council wishes to talk to you,"
Alex nods and gets up from his chair and walks down to the council table.

“Alpha Rachi, we would very much like to know why you have a vampire captive in your den,” said the head councilor.

Alex nodded "I felt death was too good for her so I felt we could keep her as a slave seeing she was just a fledgling,"

“What did she do to warrant this decision?” asked the head councilor.

“She killed my Second’s brother,” said Alex.

They all nodded talking amongst theirselves "Why not just allow the sun to get her?" one asked.

“That would be too easy, she’s got a mouth on her. So we are going to be training her to be more obedient,” said Alex smirking.

"How long have you had her?" Another asked.

“Ten days,” said Alex.

"Have you even started?" one of the females asked

“Yes we have, but she’s proving to be very resistant so we are waiting until she’s begging to be fed,” said Alex.

"What of the master?"

"He was killed by peasants, it seems they were suspicious of what he was. She escaped into the forest where we found her feeding off squirrels," said Alex.

They nodded "So long as she remains as a slave you may keep her,"

When Alex sat back down at their table he said “We have a spy in our den, the council knew about our vampire,”

Shawn nodded "We will have to find it then,”
