EPISODE 8: LIAM'S LIFE
EPISODE 8
LIAM’S LIFE
Liam stood outside of Brian’s door. He had dreaded that this would happen. He loved Brian and he knew that he wanted to be with him. Brian wanted nothing to do with Liam anymore. Liam had decided that it was time for him to go back home. As he stood there he began to remember things.
FLASHBACK
Liam leaned against the wall as he watched all the kids pass him by. Liam knew that these people would never be his friends. He thought for a second and then he took out his cell phone. He dialed up his mother.
“Yes honey?” She spoke into the phone.
“Mom I have to do something after school today so I will be coming home late.”
“Okay honey just please be careful.” Liam hung up the phone. Liam decided to skip his last class. He knew that what he had to do was important. He went to the nearest train station. As he walked down the steps he could feel his heart beating in his chest. Liam hoped on the train and he stared at all the people. They all looked alive. They all looked to him as if they are living life to the fullest. Liam got off the train and he made his way to the street. There right across the street he saw the building. The one he dreaded for so long.
“Well just fill out this form and please hold onto it for me until they call you.” Liam took the paper and he sat by the door. He looked at the door and he wanted to bolt out of that place.
“So is this your firs time here?” A tall boy asked him. The boy smiled at him. His teeth were beautiful.
“Yes it is.” Liam told him.
“My name is Mark.” The boy told him. Liam felt so uncomfortable.
“My name is Ken.” He told him and then went back to filling out his paper.
“Don’t be scared. This is not the end of your life.” Liam didn’t look up at the boy.
“Well Ken I see that this is your first time here. Well what happened now is that we will give you a 20 minute rapid HIV test. When the 20 minutes is up then the nurse will talk to you about your results.” The woman told him. All Liam could do was smile. He was so nervous. He took the cotton swab and he rubbed it on his gums. The woman put it in a tube with a timer and she instructed him to wait in the waiting area. There were so many people there. Liam stared at all those people. He knew that some would turn up to be positive. He hoped that one of those people was not him.
“Well have a seat Ken.” The man told him. The 20 minutes had passed and now Liam waited for the results.
“So doctor what is my result?” Liam’s voice cracked. The man looked at him and he smiled.
“Well first I want to thank you for coming in. Kids your age are usually scared and never come in. Now for your results Ken. You are HIV…………”
Liam stood there at Brian’s door. He knew that Brian was at the meeting. So instead Liam wrote Brian a good-bye note……
DEAR BRIAN,
First I want to start off by saying thank you. You have helped me and I appreciate that with all my heart. If I didn’t meet you at that meeting I don’t know where I would be right now. I never planned on falling in love with you but I am so glad that I did. You are such an amazing person. Thank you for loving me and showing me that I can be loved. I wish that you and I were together but God has other plans for me. So this is good-bye Brian. I have decided to go back home. So what I want you to do is find a man that will love you. Find someone that is worth that big heart of yours. I will always hold you in my heart. Thank you for everything. Tell the gang I said Good-Bye. I LOVE YOU BRIAN.
LOVE LIAM
Liam slipped it under the door and he made his way home. The tears fell down his face as he sat in the train and remembered more.
FLASHBACK
Liam waited for the train. He held the envelope in in his hand, The result was in that envelope. He had to show his parents the paper. He opened it and he read the result over and over to himself…………..
POSITIVE….POSITIVE…..POSITIVE………POSITIVE
