EPISODE 9

Carl fixed his mothers bed as she stood there leaning on the wall waiting for him to finish. She watched him with an anxious face. She wondered why he really took her out of the home. Was it cause he was scared of Elma getting to close to her to tell her the truth? That was the only reason she thought of.
“Well mom your bed is fixed. I’m sorry you had to sleep on those nasty sheets last night but hey at least it was only for one night.”
“Yeah whatever. I slept on sheets worst in the home then the ones from last night. So what are you going to do today?” Carl made his way to the window to close it. The days were getting colder.
“Well I’m going to Union Square cause a friend of mine is doing a protest for PETA.” She sat on the bed and smiled.
“That’s good that you are going to support your friend. But isn’t it too cold for something like that?” He smiled.
“Not at all this is the time of year that people wear fur so if she wants to get people’s attention this is the right time.”
“So it’s a girl huh? That is great you need a girlfriend.” Carl felt weird talking to her about things like that.
“She is only a friend mom nothing more. Well I’m going to get dressed so that I can meet her down there at 3. So I’ll see you later. Call me if you need something. I love you.”
“Yeah I love you too.” She kissed him goodbye. Carl walked out the room. Lynn sat there staring at the door and smiling. She picked up the phone and called the person from the day before. “He left and I know where he’s going so it’s time for that next phase in our plan.”

Amanda sat at the kitchen table and she watched Kimberly eat. The way she ate didn’t amaze Amanda but the fact that Kimberly’s mother was there at the table and they didn’t speak a word to each other is what amazed her. She didn’t know why they weren’t speaking or their past together so all she could do was watch.
“So Kimberly how is Brian?” Amanda asked. Kimberly looked up from her food.
“He’s okay. We are going out tonight on a date. He talked to Theresa in the park yesterday and she told him how her and David were going on a date, so Brian felt kinda bad that he hasn’t really taken me out in a while.”
“That sounds good honey you deserve to be spoiled by the man that loves you.” Kimberly looked at her mother.
“Yeah the same way daddy spoiled you?” Her mother felt a knot in her throat.
“I told you so many times that I am sorry for the past. The past is the past and I can’t change what I’ve done but I can make up for it by doing better now.” She smiled at Kimberly.
“Well people I have to go now. I have to go see Jordan. So I’ll see you two later.” Amanda got up from the table and waved bye to them. Kimberly got up from the chair as well. She made her way to the sink.
“Are you going to hate me for the rest of your life?” Her mother asked her.
“Of course not mom. There will be a day when I can forgive you but I won’t promise you that will be anytime soon.” Kimberly put her plate in the sink. She turned to face her mother. “You ruined my life and that is hard to forgive so easily especially when it was a parent that ruined your life.” She gave her mother a half smile and made her way out the kitchen.

Liam sat at his computer desk and he typed an email to Brian. He and Brian have been seeing a lot of each other and Liam loved it. He knew that Brian was the one for him but at the same time he was scared to love. People he thought loved him had hurt him before. He wanted to just crawl into a hole and never come out. But he knew that life was rough and that with each passing day it would only get better. So he took the chance of loving again and he saw that with Brian. As he was about to send the email an IM popped up on the screen.

TIPOFTHEICEBERG: HEY THERE KEN. HOW YOU DOING?

Liam froze and wondered if he should hit him up. He did.

LIAMGOGO: I’M OKAY AND HOW ARE YOU?
TIPOFTHEICEBERG: BORED AND TIRED. I HAD A LONG DAY LAST NIGHT.
LIAMGOGO: SO YOU WENT CLUBBING AGAIN LIKE USUAL?
TIPOFTHEICEBERG: KEN ARE WE GOING TO GO INTO THAT AGAIN. YES I USE TO GO CLUBBING WHEN YOU WERE HERE. I LIKED TO HAVE FUN.
LIAMGOGO: SO DID I BUT I DIDN’T GO TO CLUBS AND SHAKE MY ASS ON OTHER MEN.SO DON’T COME WITH THAT SHIT TO ME.
TIPOFTHEICEBERG: SO IS THAT WHY YOU UP AND LEFT WITHOUT A GOODBYE OR EVEN BREAKING UP WITH ME?
LIAMGOGO: NO THAT IS NOT THE REASON I UP AND LEFT OKAY SO LEAVE THAT ALONE ALREADY.
TIPOFTHEICEBERG: I CAN’T BABY. EVEN THOUGH YOU LEFT LIKE THAT I HAVE NOT STOPPED LOVING YOU. I STILL BELIEVE THAT WE ARE STILL TOGETHER AND WE WILL BE TOGETHER AGAIN.
LIAMGOGO: WE ARE NOT TOGETHER ANYMORE. I LEFT.
TIPOFTHEICEBERG: YEAH BUT WE NEVER BROKE UP. SO WE ARE STILL TOGETHER AND IF YOU MET SOMEONE OVER THERE THAT RELATIONSHIP IS FAKE. UNLESS YOU TELL ME RIGHT NOW THAT YOU DON’T WANT TO BE WITH ME THEN I’LL LEAVE YOU ALONE.

Liam froze as he read that comment. This was his chance to break up with his boyfriend to be with Brian. Liam hit the sign off button. AOL shut down and Liam just sat there. He began to cry, as he now felt torn. He had loved this other guy for years and he always thought that they were meant to be. Then on the other hand there is Brian who has made him feel things that he hadn’t felt for so long. But Liam knew that if any of them found out the truth that none of them might want to be with him.

Theresa folded the clothes on the table. The customers walked right by her as if she didn’t exist. Just as she was about to place the shirt on the table she heard some commotion.
“Get the hell out of here you bum. I will call the cops.” She looked over at where the bathroom is at and there she saw David’s father. She put the shirt down and rushed to him.
“I will have your arrested.” Her manager grabbed David’s father’s arm.
“You can let go of him sir. I know him.” Theresa looked at her manager who was turning red.
“I want him out of here Theresa.” He let him go. David’s father looked at her.
“Thank you for your help. Just cause a bum comes in to use the bathroom doesn’t make him a criminal.”
“You’re welcome. So how are you doing?” He picked up a shirt and placed it against his body.
“I’m hanging in there. Some days are worst then others but that is life as a bum or a person with cash.” She looked at him and noticed that he was placing shirts against his body. She snatched it out his hands.
“Are you crazy do you want my manager to see you? You want me to get fired?” She folded the shirt and placed it back on the rack. “Did you see David yet?” She stopped what she was doing and she stared at him.
“No not yet. I have too much on my plate right now.”
“Like what? Learning how to sing so you can try a new way to get cash from people?” She rolled her eyes. “He is your son and he has been worried bout you. You need to let him know that you are okay.”
“I can’t do that Theresa. How would you feel if your dad showed up at your door looking like this?” He did a motion with his hands up and down his sides.
“I would have questions but that is normal. He would forgive you for what ever you did.” She dug in her pocket and pulled out a twenty-dollar bill. She took his hand and placed the bill in his hand. “Go get something to eat and go see David please. Be a father to him.” She patted his hand.
“You are a great person. David is lucky to have you in his life.” He patted her on the back and he made his way to the exit. She stood there watching him. He was not the man she knew. She wondered what had happened to him. But she knew that the less she knew the better.

Carl stood there on the steps in Union Square. He had arrived and there were so many people. He had to push past people to get to his friend Liza.
“Great turn out Liza.”
“Yeah I’m happy to see that people actually care about this. Fur is so wrong and people need to see why.” She hugged Carl. “Thank you for supporting me.” Carl smiled at her.
“No problem.” He looked around at all the people. They ranged from ages 17 to maybe 60. People that looked like they didn’t care were there. Carl saw something. He saw someone. He squinted his eyes as if he couldn’t believe what he saw.
“What’s wrong Carl?” Liza asked.
“Oh nothing just thought I saw someone. So let’s get on with this before these people get reckless.” He popped the tape into the VCR and he pressed play. The TV lit up with a picture of a fox. The fox was eating it’s food. Then the next scene was of a man picking up the fox and skinning it. The fox dangled upside down and squirmed to get loose. But the fox was not getting away.
“This is why fur is evil people. These animals are not dead. They are tortured and killed for their fur. This is wrong.” Liza began to scream. “Look at the poor fox trying to get out. Look at that tear. The fox is sad people.” Carl looked out at the people again and the saw the person again. Carl wanted to know what was going on. Carl made his way down the steps. He pushed through the people. He was being pushed back. The person began to walk away. Carl screamed.
“Wait right there. Don’t you move.” Carl pushed through more and more people. When he reached the street the person was gone. Carl stood there looking around. He thought he saw him.
“Am I going crazy?” Carl asked himself. “Dad?”
