Part 9

*Timmy’s View*
The next morning we got up and headed to school as if nothing happened last night. Once again, I felt like a low-life borrowing Daylith’s clothes, but he didn't seem to mind. He was at least back to his normal self, all happy and making jokes. You'd almost think that last night was just a dream considering the way he was acting.

Once we got to school we separated and followed our schedules. As soon as homeroom began, which was in first period, I kept thinking about Katherine being in Daylith's classroom flirting with him. Hopefully he'll be able to see through her, because all he'd get out of her is an STD.
The periods went by unbelievably slow. I couldn't wait until ninth period because it was a blue day which meant I had gym with Daylith. I wanted to find out what happened in first period.
At the end of eighth period I began counting down the last five seconds until the bell. Once they were up, the bell rang and I rushed out of the room to get to the gym.

I was in the locker room already dressed and waiting, but Daylith never showed. ‘Maybe he didn't feel like changing today’ I thought, and went to see if he was waiting in his spot in the gym for attendance. Once I got out, I didn't see him anywhere. We ended up continuing our game of tennis since it wasn't raining anymore, and I began to wonder if Daylith was sick and went home early. I couldn't think of anything else.
The period went by pretty fast and it wasn't long until I was making my way to the bus.
As I walked out of the building I noticed right away Daylith sitting on one of the outdoor lunch tables talking to Katherine. She was standing between his legs and he had his arms around her waist. It was so obvious that they were together. ‘Guess they hit it off first period.’
Even though he was with her, he was still my friend. It didn't change anything. And that's what I engrained into my head to fight off the pain of seeing them together; meanwhile, I got onto the bus and took the ride home alone.
I arrived at my bus-stop in about ten minutes. It felt different to get home so quickly, considering the past couple of days I’ve been spending thirty minutes walking home.
I even made the decision to go back to my real home. After all, now Daylith has Katherine and I can’t be staying with him for too long.
As I walked up the steps to my uncle's house, I took a deep breath and tried to prepare myself for what was to come. I went inside and so far the coast was clear. My uncle wasn't in the living room, or in any of the other rooms. I threw my book bag onto the couch and walked out of the back door to see if he was outside. I could hear the clanking of metal in the barn, and decided to go back there and let him know I was home.
I took my time walking, but no matter how slow I went, I ended up in the barn anyway. I saw my uncle sitting on the stool with the big brown horse named Oxy in front of him. He held the horses back left foot up and was using the metal bristled brush to clean the crap from the horses hoof. I noticed a pile of horse shoes, screws, and a hammer, and I realized he was doing one of my chores; changing the horse’s shoes.
"Hey Uncle Jimmy. I'm back." I said a bit hesitantly.
He paused what he was doing and turned his head in my direction. "Where ya been boy? I was worried you been hurt."
His statement took me back a bit; I didn't expect him to ask me something considerate. "I was camping out at my friend’s house." I answered.
"Oh. Well that's good son. Bout time yuh got some friends," He said while standing up from the stool.
"Come here boy, I wanna show you something about this horse." He gestured me forward with his hand.
Even though I felt that I should be cautious, I tried to walk over as casually as possible, that way he wouldn't suspect that I was afraid to get too close to him.
When I stood next to him, I asked what he wanted me to see. He turned around as if to grab one of the tools, but faster then I could react he swung back around and smacked me clean across the face. My head jerked to the side and I stumbled backwards; I tripped over the pile of horse-shoes behind me and couldn’t regain my balance. The air rushed out of my lungs when my back hit the floor. I laid there trying to catch my breath while clasping my face to ease the pain from his hit.
"I wanted to show you YOUR fucking chores that I’ve been forced to do all yesterday AND today you fucking dumb shit!!" He yelled as his voice cracked under the strain. "God dammit! I ain't gonna take this crap from you boy! You hear me!!? No more!"
He picked up the wooden stool he'd been sitting on and threw it in my direction. I tried to get out of the way, but from my position on the floor, I wasn't fast enough. Almost as if it were moving in slow motion, I saw the stool flip once as it left his hand before one of its legs came into view and hit me on the side of the head.
I felt my face hit the floor and I laid there until my vision went blank along with all feelings of consciousness.

A few hours later---
Everything felt fuzzy and all my senses were slowly coming back. I thought I could hear a voice, but it was slightly muffled. After a couple of seconds I was able to turn my head back and forth to try and shake the head ache, and then the voice came in clearer.
"Hey, Hey! Can you hear me? Timmy. Timmy. Wake up!"
I slightly opened my eyes but everything appeared dark and blurred. I blinked a couple of times and slowly saw Daylith's face take shape.
