The Rain
Alex was all too familiar with funerals. Several of Michael’s friends and co-workers stood around silently as the priest made a few words and recited parts of the Bible. Alex opted not to say anything, he wasn’t sure what would come out anyway if he did. He didn’t think many of the attendees even knew how or why his brother was killed. As the last parts of the funeral were drawn out, everyone dropped a flower into the open grave. Alex dropped a rose in last, looking down at the deep hole that seemed to resemble everything he felt inside. He was buried next to their mother, and that gave him some comfort. I will find him, Michael. He made his last promise to his brother.
The remaining guests stood around, chatting quietly with others, most talking about Michael. The few who knew the two were related came over and gave their condolences. “I’m really sorry, Alex.” Ruben patted his shoulder. “Michael was a good man.”
“Thanks, Ruben. I wish we could have been closer, it seems we were only really true brothers this past month.”
“But it didn’t end with you two never making amends.” That he was thankful for, he would never forgive himself if he hadn’t had the chance. He looked around the cemetery. A little snow was left on the ground, and a chill was in the air. Alex pulled up his gloves, and a figure close by standing near the leafless trees caught his eye. He walked towards it, and realized quickly it was Jordan, wrapped tightly in a black scarf and carrying flowers. “I’m sorry, at first I wasn’t sure if I should come…” She shuffled hesitantly in the grass. Alex shook his head. “No, I’m glad you did. It’s okay.” She took his arm and the two walked to the gravesite. She dropped the flowers in, a solemn expression on her face. “You know, I’m not too good with funerals and all that.” She said quietly, the winter wind blowing through her hair as she gazed down. A slight smile passed over his face. “Neither am I.” By then Jimmy had come over to the pair. “I’m sorry this happened. How have you been?”
“Okay, thanks. Found a new job.” Jimmy nodded somberly at his reply. “The office just isn’t the same without you two.” The young man tilted his head slightly, looking at Jordan. “Jordan?” She looked up quickly, her cheeks rosy from the wind. “Jimmy! I knew you looked familiar. How are you? I heard you graduated magna cum late.” He nodded modestly. “I’m starting my pre-law training sometime next month, my mom was overjoyed.” He gave a half-hearted chuckle. “Well, I’m sorry we had to reunite under these circumstances.”
“Me too, Jimmy.” He turned back to Alex. “So you know each other, eh? Small world.”
“Small town. We met in college. So are you two dating?” Alex’s eyebrows raised, and Jordan gave a small cough. “Umm, no.”
“No.” Alex said, a straight-forward answer. The situation had reached it’s limit, and Jimmy once more gave Alex his condolences as he walked back to his car. He turned back to Jordan, who looked slightly uncomfortable. “You must be freezing. Do you need me to drive you?”
“I’d really appreciate it, I walked over here.” He opened the door of his Porsche for her and she slid right in. “Nice car, by the way.”
He could feel her eyes on him as he drove to her apartment. “Will you be okay?” she asked him concernedly. “It’s you I’m worried about.”
“Well, we know who’s behind this whole thing now. We can do a little investigating next week, see what we can dig up.”
“Frankly, I don’t think I can wait that long.”
“Alex, you really need to rest. So much as happened…” By now he had pulled up to her home, and her voice faded off. He stared at her for a moment, then heard a faint tapping over his entire vehicle. It had just begun to rain. “Wow, the weather here is really terrible.” He snorted, reaching past her to grab an umbrella. She gazed out the now blurry window. “Maybe so.” She murmured. “But God, I’ve always loved the rain.” Her voice was barely a whisper, and Alex smiled. He got out first, opening the umbrella to greet the cold London rain. He went over to the passenger side quickly and opened the door for her. Shielding her from the downpour, he prepared to walk her up to the door, eyeing every car and window he passed on the way up the stairs.
She stopped him before they went up however. “I know you’ve heard this enough, but I’m…”
“Sorry?” He asked her in a quiet voice, leaning in to her. “Not at all.” She whispered. Hesitating for just a moment, she then put her hand behind his neck and pulled his face towards hers, locking him into a deep kiss. Alex closed his eyes and enjoyed every bit of it, then opened them in surprise as she suddenly pulled back. “I- I can’t.” He had to accept that, he wasn’t going to force her into anything. “Okay.” He said softly. But it wasn’t over, they both knew that. Suddenly he threw the umbrella down and wrapped his arms around her, the two sharing the most passionate kiss he knew he had never felt before with anyone else. The rain drenched them quickly, but they could have cared less as they gripped each other tightly in the kiss that left them both breathless. Alex couldn’t deny it anymore, he had fallen in love with her.
She pulled him by his tie into her apartment, still locked in a deep kiss. They fell together on her bed, and for a moment Alex sat upright. She did too, looking in his eyes. "What's wrong?" She asked him concernedly, her hand on his slightly rough face. "Nothing, you're just so beautiful." He said softly, pulling down the sleeve of her dress to reveal the strap of a black bra. She smiled, removing her dress to show her slender body. Alex took off his clothes as well. It wasn't like the rest, she wasn't like the rest. He wasn't just going to bang her and share a smoke afterwards. This was real.
Now naked, Alex positioned himself on top of her, kissing every curve, including her tight breasts. She moaned softly, holding his head to her heart. They moved together slowly, fiery kisses on every inch of flesh, until they were ready. He entered her warmess, filling them both with such an intensity like nothing he had ever experienced. His slow and careful motions evolved into faster thrusts, and soon she was screaming out his name into the dark bedroom. Their bare legs intertwining, her moist walls clenched around him, and he knew they were close to coming together. That had never happened with the others, he was usually the last. He felt himself explode inside of her as she had an orgasm that rippled through her entire body.
He fell next to her, his chest heaving up and down, now glistening with sweat. Jordan took several shuddered breaths, then curled up next to him. "Alex?"
"Yes Jordan?"
"Me too."
Alex woke up sharply, sitting upright in the dark bedroom. He couldn’t even remember what it what had pulled him out of a deep sleep. The rain continued to patter against the windows, filling him with peace. He felt a motion next to him, as Jordan stirred. He leaned over to look at her face, she was still sleeping peacefully. He stroked her dark blonde curls, taking a moment to marvel at her soft skin, smooth as porcelain. He wrapped an arm around her waist protectively and fell back asleep in an instant, feeling at ease for the moment and not wanting to think about what was to come when day broke.
“This is wrong, Alex.” Jordan had her robe around her, and was sitting on the edge of the bed, gazing at him with those bright colored eyes of hers. Alex wiped his face with his hand. “I know. You’re with James.” She lowered her head. “I’m sorry.”
“No you’re not.” She turned back to him. “Okay, so maybe I’m not. That doesn’t mean we can do this again.”
“I know that too. I just don’t need apologies anymore.” She gave a small, bitter laugh. “God, what do we do now, Alex?”
“Do you love him?” She glared at the abruptness of the question. “I’ve been with Scott a long time Alex. We have a very steady relationship.”
“You didn’t answer my question.” She stood up suddenly. “No more games. You have to go.” He stood up too, clad only in boxer shorts and not feeling the least bit ashamed of it. “Fine. I don’t have to come back if you don’t want me too.” He turned and made his way to her bathroom. “Where the hell are my pants?” In all of his frustration he heard Jordan start to laugh. He turned back to her, a rare smile involuntarily crossing his face. “Oh don’t tell me I’m making the walk of shame down to my car in this.” At this remark she exploded into laughter, and Alex couldn’t help himself from doing the same thing.
He fell back into bed with her, and the two lay there for awhile, suppressing the finalities of their amusement. He turned and looked at her, trapping himself in those blue and green eyes he loved so much about her. “I’m not going to lie to you, Jordan. I think I’ve fallen for you.” She stroked her manicured fingers across his cheek. “I… don’t know what to say.” She finally confessed. “You can’t tell me you don’t feel anything.”
“No, that’s the problem. I do.” He understood. He was her protector, they had a working relationship. And there was another man involved, someone who obviously loved her. It was the sad truth of it all, he couldn’t be with her. “I do have to leave, Jordan. I’m sorry I kissed you.” He got out of bed, finally found his clothes, and prepared to leave. He turned at the door to see her leaning against the door frame. “This changes everything.”
“It doesn’t change a thing.” With that he left her apartment, putting on his Armani sunglasses to greet the early sun. Yes, it changed everything. The situation had considerably complicated itself. He knew he couldn’t let these things get in the way of his job. Too many years of being a hit man had taught him that. He would be back, of course, but it would be to ensure that Miss Noble was safe. Pursuing his emotions would have to wait, right now he needed a drink.

Ok... I defintely had this all written out and my computer crashed, causing me to lose all of it. I had to do this twice. Yes, twice. Hope you liked it though, I really tried with the sex scene, I had a little bit of difficulty with it at first. Thanks to a friend for the helpful tips. You know who you are.
