The next morning I woke to Thomas laying a breakfast on the bedside table. I turned to face him, "Thomas, thank you." I said and smiled at him. Before he left the room and shut the doors called him back, "Thomas, could you stay a bit. I was just wanting to talk. Friend to friend."
"Of course, my queen. What do you want to talk about?" Thomas said and pulled a chair from the small table and sat next to me.
"Well, I was just wondering, you were there when I was alive. You probably know alot more than I do about what happened back then." I said as I started buttering the roll that had been set out for me.
"Ah, so you have questions about that time then?" Thomas said.
"Yeah, somethings just don't make sense. I keep trying to put two and two together and it never makes four." I paused as I took a large bite of the roll, "My first question is: How is it that I was married to Darren, but one of the first things I remembered was having feelings for Brian?"
"Ah, good question. Brian loved you before you met Darren. He didn't realize it until you were married, though; once you were married he persued you. He eventually succeeded in partially winning your heart by gaining more of your trust than your husband had. Shortly before you were killed he seduced you." Thomas explained.
"Is that why I remember so much fighting between me and Darren?" I asked.
"Oh, I'm sure. You and your husband never fought before that incedent." Thomas looked at me and wrinkled his brow, "You know, that was the thing that hurt him the most. The only reason he fought with you was because he wished he could have your heart fully like he had before."
"I see..." I sat in thought a moment about the dream I had had before I came to Darren's castle, "There is another thing I don't understand. I remembered my death the night before I came here and Brian was there when it happened. Did Brian show his face to you after my death? Did he tell you he was there? He must have seen who killed me."
At this Thomas' face wore an expression of shock, "He was the one who told me of your death. He told no one that he was there when it happened. If he had seen who did it, he would have either killed the person or died, unless he was in on your deaths; if he had killed the person responsible, Renea and Jordan would not have died."
When I heard this I put down what I was eating and pushed it away. I couldn't another bite because of what Thomas had just told me. My stomache felt queezy, 'I almost had sex with him too.' I thought to myself. "Brian must have had something to do with it. He has been lying to all of us this whole time hasn't he?"
"Well all I know is that if he has been telling you that Lord Darren is your enemy, then he is most definately not telling you the truth about that." Thomas said as he picked up my tray. "I know Lord Darren would never do anything to hurt you in any way." As he left the room he said, "It's just after dawn, Darren said he wanted to see you in his room alone before he showed you to your castle."
"Alright then." I said and got up to get into the dress Thomas had layed out.
