Chapter 8 Escape From Dark Island

Blood Dripping Roses
Chapter 8 – Escape From Dark Island

It was only a few minutes after Vincent stormed out of the dining room that Ebony felt her stomach contract with pain. She doubled over as she helplessly vomited anything that might have been in her stomach out onto the floor. To weak to walk, she crawled away from the mess and lay on the floor in a curled up position as she moaned in pain. Confused, she couldn’t understand what was the reason for her body to be in so much pain. Her chest felt as if someone was holding something hot against it and her throat burned even more. Closing her hand over her neck, she preyed for the pain to stop.

The red haired servant from before was suddenly by Ebony’s side, helping her sit up while holding her weight against her.

“Don’t worry.” the girl said in a tiny voice and she rubbed a hand up and down Ebony’s back. “You bit him. He has that effect on people who get to taste his blood…”

Ebony wanted to ask what was the deal about Vincent’s blood and how was it possible for blood to not only taste the way it did, but why it had such an effect. But she was too weak to pull these questions from her burning throat. Instead, she allowed the girl to help her to her room.

On the way to Ebony’s room, the red-haired servant told Ebony that her name was Jaylin. Jaylin had pulled back the clovers of the white silk bed as Ebony climbed into it and lay on her side with her hand still on her neck. The pain had ebbed some, but now her empty stomach was cramping.

As if she knew, Jaylin left the room and returned only a few minutes later with a sandwich and a glass on milk on a tray. When the tray was sat down on the bed, Ebony quickly grabbed the sandwich and ate, hoping to keep this down.

Jaylin sat down on the floor while she waited for the tray to be returned or for any other request that Ebony might make. Ebony noticed that this girl wasn’t much like the others. She was dressed in simple black dress, but it wasn’t ripped, dirty or torn. It fit her tightly unlike the other girls’ dresses that had fit them loosely. Her red hair was neatly pulled back in a tight bun and she appeared to be healthier and cleaner than the others. Jaylin smiled up at Ebony unlike others, with light in her eyes and a hint of a smile on her face.

Taking a few sips of the thin, cold milk out of the wine glass, when the cool liquid ran down her though, she found that the burn faded away quickly, allowing her to speak again.

“Thank you.” Ebony said while nodding.
“I apologize.” Jaylin said as she retrieved Ebony’s trey. “I was given orders from Master to lock you in your room until he comes for you. Please try to get some rest.”

When the door was closed, Ebony slipped out of bed and walked over to the window peering out of it with a heavy heart. The events of that night played over and over in her head as she closed her eyes and rested her head on the window.

(He’s going to kill if I don’t get away from here. I can’t live this way, I won’t allow to someone like him to control me!)

And then at that moment, an idea came to her. Pushing open the large windows, she found that they were not locked at all. The cold night air hit her in the face and she started shaking because she was only wearing a thin dress. Peering down, Ebony found that she was three stories high and below the window she couldn’t see anyone near her.

(That’s not too far down to the ground. But I need something…)

Turing back into the room, her eyes sifted around the room as she looked for anything that might have been of any help. Her eyes landed on the bed, and she knew what to do.

Ripping the sheet off the bed, she took the thin silk long sheet and tied one end to the bed post with server tight knots. Throwing the other end out the window, she found that the sheet brushed the ground. Ebony took no time climbing out the window, wrapping her legs around the sheet and sliding her way down out the window. The brick along the outside of the castle walls scrapped her arms and shoulders as she slid down, but she too focused on getting away to care.

Ebony landed on the ground with a soft thud. She took a second to look around the area to see if she spotted anyone before taking off running into the night. The forest was only a few yards away from the castle and so, she ducked into the trees as quietly as she could before slowing to a jog.

The night air was freezing and the cold air blew against Ebony’s skin harshly, but she drove herself to run on. Tree braches scraped her skin and she tripped several times over large roots, skinning her knees and legs, but this didn’t stop, nor slow her pace. She was unsure of where she was running to, but her mind blindly drove her deeper into the night. The farther she got from the castle, the better her hopes for escape became.

However, her hopes were dashed as Ebony came to a halt as the woods ended and the beach began. The sight of the sea was not what stopped her, but instead, it was none other than Vincent, who was standing calmly standing by the sea. She froze in her fear.

The moon that was high the sky was bright enough to see the anger on his face as her glared at her with his hands shoved in his pocket. His long hair blew in the wind around on his face along with his open shirt, giving him a devilish look in the moonlight. Two other men that Ebony didn’t know stood along side of him, staring at her too with identical smiles suspecting their knowledge of what her fate would be for attempting to run away.

“Ebony.” Vincent’s voice hissed and carried into the wind.

Not giving him the chance to say anything more, instead of turing back to the woods, Ebony begin to run at full blast down the beach coast line with the 3 men close behind. Because fear was now eating away at her heart, she felt as if she was moving slower and she panicked knowing she would never out run them. So she made her decision in those few seconds and made a sharp turn towards the sea.

(I’ll kill myself before I go back!) a panicked though ran though her head.

Ebony took on the freezing water as she ran into with a second though. The cold water chilled her skin and her feet went numb as she pushed herself farther into the water. When the water was now at her chest, that was when she felt a arm encircle her waist.

“NO!” she screamed as Vincent threw her over his shoulder and carried her as if she weighed nothing to him. “I won’t go back! Please don’t take me back!”

Ebony fought and screamed as Vincent ruthlessly carried her towards the way she had ran without a word. Annoyed that her attempts to get down were becoming in vain, Ebony reached her hands under Vincent’s shirt from behind and she racked her nails as hard as she could along the lower part of his back.

Vincent roared with pain and flipped Ebony hard off of his back and onto the ground. “You insulting slave!” he screamed as he begin to tear her thin dress from her body.

What little fight that Ebony had burst forward she tired to stop him. But soon she found herself naked before him as she was delivered a hard slap across the face. She shook as he pressed down on top of her with his weight as his mouth came to her ear.

“You don’t get it do you?” Vincent whispered in her ear as Ebony tried to push him away from her.

Fear crawled into the pit of her stomach as his tongue slip around her ear and down to her neck where he sucked her skin into his mouth. But within the next few seconds, she expected anything expect for what had happened. When she felt something sharp in Vincent’s mouth brush her exposed neck, Ebony went still. Next came the pain that was unimaginable and torn a ragged scream from her and he bit hard into her neck.

(This can’t be happing! This can’t be real!) was the last though that ran though Ebony’s head before she passed out.

~~~***0***~~~
It was the throbbing pain in Ebony’s neck that bough her back to her senses. She as she turned over onto her back. Opening her eyes slowly, Vincent’s face came into focus.
“You’re back inside my castle like you are supposed to be.” he informed her as he placed a hand on her shoulder and pulled Ebony to a sitting position. She was glad to find that she was dressed, but disappointment crushed her heart to know that she wasn’t able to get away.
“What did you do to me?” she questioned raised a hand to her neck where she remembered him biting her. Her eyes widened as her fingers brushed over two circler wounds that were caked with her dried blood.
She raised her eyes to look at Vincent who was sitting on the side of the bed that she was lying on. Some of her blood had dried on the side of his chin and he smiled, showing off the fangs in his mouth.
“No-no!” Ebony stumbled off the bed and away from him as fast as she could. She put her hands over the eyes and she tried to wipe the image away. “You’re not real! This isn’t real!”
Vincent’s cold laugh filled the room. “I am as real as they get.”
Ebony yanked her hands from her face and started at him with an angry look. “Vampires aren’t real! They are fictional, fake, a sham! They aren’t real!”
“Don’t be stupid bitch!” Vincent snapped back now angry as well. “You’ve got one right here in your face, and you don’t think I’m real? Shall I show you? Do you need proof?”
As if on cue, the door to Vincent’s bedroom opened and in walked Jaylin with a towel in her hand. Ebony turned back toward Vincent only to find that he had vanished into thin air.
Jaylin stopped halfway in the room, looking around.
“Did Master step out?” she questioned.
Within the blink of an eye, Ebony’s gasped as Vincent reappeared behind the servants. She screamed when his sized her from behind with one arm around her waist, the other pulling her hair, forcing her head back. Her pale, white neck was exposed as her head was bent back at a painful angle.
“Master please-please-,” Jaylin shouted as she dropped the towel, but didn’t try to fight for her freedom.
“Stop it!” Ebony said as tears filled her eyes. “Don’t hurt her just to prove something to me! I believe you! Let her go!”
A few seconds passed before Vincent pushed Jaylin away from him with a growl.
“You will be punished later for not keeping a better eye on the bitch.” he snapped as his eyes stayed on Ebony. “Now get out.”
Once alone again, Ebony slid to the floor where she looked up at Vincent with cold eyes as her hand covered his bite.
(So they are real. Vampires are real and have been around the whole time. I never thought that was true.)
“You haven’t even been in my home for more than a day, and yet you tried to run.” Vincent said while pacing in from of his small fireplace. His long black hair was ruffled around as he paced shirtless and only dressed in pants.
“You expected me to stay here after what you did to me!?” Ebony shouted at him.
“You think that was bad?” he stopped to look at her and smiled a cruel grin. “What I did to you, have done to you, so far is nothing compared to what I have done to others. Feel lucky that I found it distasteful to take you as you were on the ground tonight. What made you think you could ever escape me?”
“I will find away out of here, even if it kills me.”
“Then give it you best shot bitch. Nice time, I won’t be so easy on you. You want to play this game with me, then fine. But know who it is your dealing with.”
