Vampyres
Switching back to normal hours has befuddled my mind. So much. Unfortunately they talk about natural selection and breeding. *sighs*How about they do some "breeding" of their own? I keep suggesting it but I never get it. Last night I thought about making a silly comment. Like... if Partners hits 30k hits I'll do Souse/Koln. The issue with that is that because the entire story is from Mik's perspective... there isn't entirely a way to do that without Paw and Mik both being asleep and Paw falling into their little private moment and pulling Mik with him. Or with a camera. Due to brain addling, not sure if there will be another update today. Most likely there will... but I can't promise anything. Just a note. The "Vampyres" is pronounced Vahm-peers or Vamp-ears. I think both are the same, depending on how you say it really. I could see Paw saying Vamp-ears just for the fun of it. Read, Review and Enjoy.“Paws paws pause while pawing Mik,” Paw murmured, stilling his hands, “Mikkums upset?”“Yes, Mik is upset,” Mik murmured, scrolling through another page of useless information about the effects of electrical items on sensitive people. Considering how little pollution the factories and people were allowed to put out, that was not the cause of the sudden tumour. Palt thought he was mad, Galt told him he was overreacting. There was a small part of Mik that agreed with Galt, that he was overreacting. But he didn’t think long enough to allow the logical part to change his mind. Some people had made claims that the electrical interference from power lines had caused everything from tumours to nausea and headaches. A few people claimed to be able to hear electrical objects turn on. The Sidhe knew when the cameras turned on and off, when the cameras in another room turned on and off. Seemingly the Sidhe could hear when someone had… relations… with another Sidhe. Yet scientists and doctors had both denied any claims that electrical items could cause cancer or other health problems. Electricity was perfectly safe. Some even denied the possibility of those who were sensitive being able to hear electronically objects turning on. “Mik not make Paw sick. If people make Sidhe sick, Sidhe be long dead ago. Or.”“Or?” Mik asked, finally looking away from his computer screen and to Paw.“Or Sidhe kill all people, take over buildings and steal all sex toys and have orgies. Mm. Sex toy orgies.”“You would not kill all the people.”“Says who?” Paw asked, sitting back so that he could drape his legs over Mik’s lap and thusly over the keyboard of the personal computer, “if people’s very existence threatened the Sidhe as a people, then who says that the Sidhe would not rise up and destroy the people?”It seemed that more and more often, this is what Paw drew back to. Was Paw trying to imply that the Sidhe could and would do just that? But Mik always had the same response to Paw’s inquiry. “If the Sidhe are capable of doing that, truly capable of destroying the people, why have they not done it before? Why not rise up before the Sidhe population dropped into the extinction spiral?”“Extinction spiral?”“When a populations drops, when the people are killed unnecessarily, then there are fewer genes and the necessary gene bits to survive are no longer available, there are fewer genes and thus fewer combinations that can be made and because there are fewer combinations the genes end up hitting the wrong combinations more often and these bad genes kill off more and… I dunno really. But basically there’s fewer good genes and thus it turns to bad genes. Bad genes means lower population which means fewer good genes which means bad genes which means lower population. Even if the good genes combine all together, it won’t work because the good genes would be too closely related.”“Like pairing with sister.”“Ehm… yes. What happens when a Sidhe pairs with his sister?”“Like as not, the creature that is born is deformed. Once there were two half-breed Sidhe who were too closely related. They coupled and the resulting creature had wings. That worked. Wings that worked! How does that key into your people’s idea of evolution? Everyone of that one’s offspring had wings. And his and his. An entire race came and went because of coming too close in blood.”“Wings…”Paw shrugged, “Wings. The Vampyres that still haunt the edges of your society, they have large underground cities that run for miles in all directions. At the heart of the forests, where no people go, where Sidhe rarely go. These Vampyres came from people.”“No. The Vampyres are an ancient race that has long since died out.”“Of which no dating can be done because once they give over their souls to the afterlife, their bodies no longer age, nor do they decay. A Vampyre body need be burned after death. Most are. Except the first one. Which your people have dug up and put on display as the remnant of a society.”Mik paused, then said, “what has that got to do with breeding too closely?”“Aniege blood bred too closely there. Breeding too closely has resulted in much bad stuff. But sometimes it results in things you not understand. People not understand. Sidhe have not dropped into extinction spiral. Sidhe not even close to extinction spiral. People are the ones who let all and any stay alive. Man has heart problem, replace heart, let him breed. Let him pass on bad heart.”“Are you telling me the Sidhe leave blind babies to die?”“Blindness not in blood. Blind Sidhe can still live. Deaf Sidhe can still see. Man who has heart problem, he pass this on to children. Man who has fat in blood, pass this on to children. Man who shakes and breaks and all these things people call hereditary disease are not solved by giving man pills. Man still sick, so why man allowed to breed? People no longer have natural selection. Stupid and bad is running rampant.”“What are you saying?”“Sidhe not endangered species. People are. Population so high that everyone and anyone can breed. So they do. Because they think it is their right.”“…” Mik looked from Paw and back to the computer screen. Paw sighed and leaned over pulling Mik’s hands away from the keyboard as ht eman tried to type around the Sidhe’s legs, “If Paw is dying because Paw has bad blood, because there is disease within him, then Paw is fine with that. Because Paw will not burden his people with his bad blood. If disease is to stay with Paw all life, then why live?”“Because you can. You can have disease and live a full life.”“No being can live full life without children. How can life be full if one does not experience a child? You, me, everyone, programmed to fuck anything that moves because it is to pass on genes. We all horn dogs and the worse ones are programmed to breed and breed now. If Paw stay alive, he only be mean to Sidhe. Why make them care for him when he is sick.”“They need you. You aren’t just another Sidhe. You are a candidate for Whisper. He’s been waiting two generations for this heir to come about. Why would you risk ruining his life dream just out of selfishness?”“Not selfish.”“Suicide is nothing but selfish.”“Not suicide. Not if Paw accepts fate and no let people dig into Paw’s head and root around. Paw’s brain not like people. If Paw let people dig about, Paw would be committing actual suicide because Nort won’t stop to think about how bad poking this or that part is. Paw not sick just because people say Paw sick. Paw sick because of Paw. Or not at all. Essuan will know what is wrong with Paw and fix.”“Essuan can’t just-”“Essuan can. Elder go and touch green smelly things from people dump. Then man’s fingers grow cancer stuffs and bad stuffs and Essuan make go away. Paw just have to live until baby born. Then Essuan fix. That only if Paw sick. Probably not. And Essuan going to teach Lillow how to fix stuffs so maybe Lillow can do it,” Paw shrugged.“Essuan isn’t old enough to have an apprentice,” Mik murmured.“Essuan sit as healer for tribe with no healer. But Essuan breeder now. Tribe not wait until Essuan have baby to get hurt so new healer need training. Lillow has capacity to be healer.”“Capacity.”“Yes.” Paw gave a small nod, then put a hand to his head. The Sidhe saw Mik watching the hand intently and dropped it almost immediately, “Paw will be fine. Mik need believe Paw will be fine. Because Paw doesn’t like how Mik pities him.”“I just… it just…”“Doesn’t seem fair. Maybe Paw is sick, maybe Paw die and Mik lose Paw forever. Mik not fit in anywhere, to anyone or with anyone and now that he loves someone and is nice and is trying he thinks not fair for it to be taken away again.”“I was… no. Paw. I’ve been terrible most of my life. I deserve to be punished, if anything. It wouldn’t be fair that Paw is suffering because I have been bad.”Paw pulled his legs off of Mik’s lap, moved the laptop from the man’s lap and onto the table. The Sidhe knelt astride Mik’s legs, took the man’s face in his long hands and sighed. “Mik have bad life. Mik not bad to life. Mik not hurt others for fun of hurting others. Mik not torment others. Mik not be cruel to others. Mik not abandon mother. Mik lie, but only to save mother’s hurt. Mik not bad. Life bad to Mik. Is time Mik learned that bad is different from what people think bad is.” .
