Part 5a: Let's do it right! (demon)

“I’m glad. Thank you, Raine... this has been quite the afternoon. And to think I could’ve just spent it working!”

Raine laughed. “That would’ve been a shame!”

“It would’ve been a goddamned waste, Raine! This... this was perfect.”

“Yeah...”

“But I guess we should maybe sleep now.”

“... Yeah. Will you get the pillows?”

“Sure, no prob - - -” click! “- - - lem...?”

Shia looked down at her wrist, where one end of a manacle was suddenly looping. The chain jingled as the other end clicked into place around Raine’s wrist.

“Well? Go on, then.”

“Raine, you are a slave driver...”

Raine grinned. “Chop, chop, now. Or I’ll have to find the whip, too.”

Sighing, Shia moved as far as the constraints would allow and reached for the pillows. The first one was easy enough, but the other had tumbled further away, and was just out of her reach. In the end she had to turn around and use her foot to get it close enough. Raine giggled, confirming Shia’s suspicions that she was looking quite silly. But at last the bed was well-stocked again, and they could burrow nicely under the blankets.

“Are you going to keep this on?” Shia held up her arm, indicating the metal connection between them.

“Yeah,” said Raine, nudging Shia to lay down with her back to her, so they could spoon. She hugged her tightly, their hands laced together over Shia’s heart.

“You see,” muttered Raine, lifting herself up on her elbow to whisper into her girlfriend’s ear, “You’re mine, Shia. All mine.”

“I am,” breathed Shia. “I love you, Raine.”

“I love you too. Goodnight, Shia.”

“Goodnight.”

And thus connected, wrist to wrist and heart to heart, they fell asleep. Their breathing slowed and fell into rhythm.

Soon, it was impossible to tell the two apart.

(For the next part, if you’ve sided mostly with Demona, go to part 6a. If you’ve sided mostly with Angela, go to part 6b. If you’ve given them equal attention, go to part 6c.)
