Joban III

Chapter Eight

Joban did not sleep well after the night of pleasure. Castis’ words played in his head and jolted him awake. That is why he leaves the bed of his companions so swiftly. He must return to Castis’ ship, retrieve the data chip.

That is also why he avoids waking Tyral. He would dismiss such a request. Thankfully, when he glances back, it is only the girl staring at him. Staring with those expressive blue eyes. They draw him back over,

“Go back to sleep,” he says, and can’t resist touching her.

Part of him wants to roll back into bed. But he has a job to do and pulls away.

He radios his crew to meet back at the Dagger. They all prompt except for Reza the straggler. He gives Joban a curious look.

“Roses.”

“What?”

“You smell like roses.”

It’s the scent the Commander and Quasar both had on their bodies. It must have rubbed off on him. Joban’s surprised Reza could discern it since he must reek more of sex and Klorian wine.

“It’s an after-spray,” he says, “All of you on the ship. Hurry up.”

“What’s our course Captain?” J’owl asks.

“The Scyllan ship.”

It’s an odd order, considering there’s nothing left on the damaged ship. Apart from a mortally wounded Liran in stasis. The crew exchange looks but none of them speak. Even Reza is silent for a change.

“Well J’owl?” Joban says.

“I’ll plot a course,” the pilot says obediently.

It will take some time and Joban retreats to his small cabin for a shower. He stands under the running water and takes his cock in his hands. He closes his eyes and tries to imagine its Quasar touching him. But his hands are too rough and familiar, it’s not the same. He releases himself with a sigh.

The failure leaves him tense as he steps out of the shower. He slumps on his cot, half the size of the Commander’s sleeping pod. Flashes of last night play in his mind and he reprimands himself. He shouldn’t be thinking of the girl. What about the threat Castis spoke of, if he was telling the truth.

The beep of a comm opens his eyes. It’s J’owl.

“There’s something you should see Sir.”

It sounds urgent. Joban dresses quickly and heads for the cockpit.

“What is it?”

J’owl looks up from his console,

“We’ve reached the radius where we first detected the vessel…”

“And?”

“And it’s no longer showing up on the scanners.”

Joban frowns,

“You’re certain these are right coordinates?”

“Affirmative Sir.”

Joban trusts J’owl. He rarely makes a mistake.

“Take her in closer.”

“Aye Sir.”

They arrive where Castis’ ship should be. All that’s left is pieces of debris floating through space. Someone has gotten there first.

What happened to the ship? What happened to Kara? Stay tuned! ;)
