8 Overlord Updated
The crystal spun in front of the tall figure and Klem appeared. He bowed low. “My Lord.”
“Klem. How goes our campaign in the Islands?”
“Well My Lord. Fifth Isle was ours without fight, the cowards had already taken my advice and run. Fourth Isle will shortly fall. We have new allies amongst the folk who joined the force. Vlad is most appreciative of their rogue talents. They should easily overcome the stone people. And …”
“And, Klem?
“My Lord. Vlad is, has, trained a new female Persuader. He said she is very powerful, and turned one of the flying people in less than a moon cycle.”
“She is truly powerful if this is so. Excellent, Klem. I take it the flying one has been returned to his people?”
“He has My Lord.” He smirked. “I see no trouble overcoming these now. What would My Lord advise me to do next?”
The great figure chuckled. “Do what you are best at, Klem, confusing people so they do not know who to trust apart from yourself! I look forward to your next report, from Third Isle.”
“As you wish, My Lord, so shall it be. I remain your faithful servant.” He bowed again as his figure faded and the crystal stopped.
“As you are, Klem, as you are.” The figure spun the crystal again, calling another name. Glem appeared in the thing. “My Lord calls.” He bowed even lower than Klem had done.
“How goes our campaign on the Far Isle?”
“Well, My Lord. We have arrived at Hadad’s Castle. The rest of Pear Isle as the folk call this place is in ruins and Hadstown is much grown. The force is much enhanced.”
“You had no troubles?” A pause, too long a pause. “There were troubles then. Tell me.”
“My Lord. We suffered several attacks in the forested area which is vast indeed. Several creatures, half men half beast, attacked us. As we fought these our prison cage of young people was breached by creatures from the high trees. I managed to recapture the two special ones you wished me to deliver to Lord Hadad. I fear the brother of one was liberated.”
“Ah. We can deal with these creatures later, they matter not. Has Hadad made his pleasures yet with the two?”
“Indeed My Lord. The light haired one is to be consort and the dark haired one trained. The young sister of the dark haired one is in the castle employ as a messenger and carrier for both women and the seniors.”
“Yourself included?”
“Aye My Lord. But she is but a child yet.”
“She will grow swiftly enough, Glem. Make certain the training is thorough. I wish you joy in this most enjoyable task. I want her near broken by the time her brother appears, as he surely will. Her journey into my service shall start with his journey to the next life.”
“As you wish, My Lord, so shall it be. I remain your faithful servant.” He bowed again as his figure faded and the crystal stopped again.
The figure’s insane laughter rang through the high tower and into the night. This was so much more FUN manipulating people than leading a force himself. The world would be his this time.
“Klem. How goes our campaign in the Islands?”
