Chapter 7
Not twenty minutes later he successfully lost the three vans and was headed the long way home, just in case. He wasn’t worried about them when they got home, the Idars guarding them would prevent anyone in the media or such getting into the property or near the house, he felt sure of it.
He suddenly thought of something, did Amanda know what happened? Did she get a call from the hospital, hear it on the news or radio or did Jason break his silence and come tell her? At the gates another news crew waited, however three figures guided them through, closing the gates close behind them and locking them closed, the Idars, he guessed.
When he pulled up in front of the house both Amanda and Jason where there, waiting for them. Hank didn’t need to fake the surprise he felt at the others appearance, he had expected a thirty year old Son Of Hauleric\Idar, not a normal Son Of Hauleric, no glowing eyes and no visible wings, no claw-like nails or long curved hollow fangs, only the usual long incisors, pale skin-but then of course Jason had always been the pale and sickly one of the two brothers, except now he was muscular and strong, where they remember him as weak and fragile.
“Jason?” he said softly, disbelievingly and the figure nodded and said softly “I came to see if Corin is all right, I felt his pain.”
“You’re not suppose to be here father,” Corin said as he limped out with Red aiding him on the steps “you know the rule.”
“I do” Jason nodded again “however am I not allowed to break it when the person is injured beyond the ability to properly defend himself or fight? That WAS the exception to the rule, true?” Corin thought for a minute then nodded reluctantly “it was. Trust you to find a way around it.”
“You’ll be staying?” Amanda asked him hopefully “please stay. We all want you to, I want you too.” Then just for Jason’s ears she whispered “please. I want to try and make up for all the strange and terrible emotions I made you feel those years back. I want so bad to make up for it. Please, will you let me?” Jason paused for a long time then nodded slightly “I will stay a while but Corin will continue teaching.”
To everyone’s shock Corin snarled something obscene and stalked into the house, throwing his crutch and bottle of pills against a wall and limping heavily up the stairs to his room, slamming the door closed and they heard his cupboard draws opening and slamming closed.
What’s he doing?” Hank wondered out loud and Jason’s familiar rich voice with a slight Scottish accent answered “looking for his Videcom, he thinks by telling Richard about what happened that the pure Idar will back him up.” They looked at Jason to find his face turned up towards the room and eyes distant in concentration. “Will he back him up?”
“No. In order to explain my appearance here he will have to tell him about his injury and when he finds out about it Richard will be concerned, say he understands and agrees with my decision and may even go as far as to say from now on I will stay, as a kind of bodyguard.” A crash and loud curse showed he had been correct in his guess, or whatever it had been.
“You better make sure he is avoided for the rest of the day” Jason smiled at them softly “that is the limit he can hold onto his anger. After that he is not very active, it is as if it saps his strength to be angry, especially for so long.”
“From his mother’s side?” Amanda guessed, hoping for future tales of Jellena and Corin as a child, wanting to know ALL about her grandson as a baby and his childhood years, all that innocence she and Hank had missed out on. Jason nodded “as well. Jellena had a temper like our life force, fiery. Many say that’s why we were in love, we fulfilled each other and were one whole being, a part of each other. There is also his Idar part, Idars are inherently savage, animalistic almost and because of his human and mothers spirit those rare times he does loose his temper he can be powerful.”
His head turned to look at them intensely “ever since Richard joined the Idars have been changing, maturing we think of it as. Before him the Idars were the same for five hundred or so years, never changing even when ‘new blood’ was introduced. Richard brought in mixed breed blood, changing them and those to come. “
“How do you mean?” Amanda asked softly and Jason smiled at her “Richard is what is known as an Indigo child.” Hank frowned and spoke out “you mean a physic child? The ones born as old souls, always completely honest, highly sensitive and as well as being able to see auras they have been known to see angels as well?”
Jason nodded to him “he always knew what he was, even if it took everyone else years to learn. That as well as the addition of his mix blood makes him totally unique and special.”
“What do you mean by mix blood?”
“The Simpson line-Richard’s father-was descended from an ancient king and queen, both with the spirits of wild animals. Their son inherited the spirit and his mothers fathers sorcerous ability. On his mothers side she was descended from two powerful medieval beings” he looked at them “one of them was us.”
“He has Fire Blood?”
“HAD Fire Blood. You see one of her ancestors was a Dragonite, in other words, half human and half dragon-cursed-to-man-form. That Dragonite bred with one of us to be their line. That blood was introduced into the Idars and because of Corin’s mothers fire it made his human, his wild side, stronger.”
“That’s the wings, claws and eyes, isn’t it” Amanda realized “by introducing the mixed blood into the race he’s also introduced mutations in your appearance as well.” Jason nodded to this “but as well as physical mutations we have gained other things, abilities and powers not thought of before and being so different every time Richard discovers a new power or ability he shares it with us. Richard thinks the more powerful we all become, the easier it will be to help and protect people.”
They nodded “we see and we know now why you joined them. And as for you and Jellena we understand that too. You had the body and she had the soul and together you were one being. You have the body of fire but the soul of an angel and she had the body of an angel but a soul-a temper-of flame.”
“Yes” Jason looked at her deep in the eyes “that was how it was” he suddenly winced in pain and looked away “only now she is no longer with us.”
“Look at it this way, Jason. If YOU were brought back from the dead then who’s to say that at some time in the future Jellena won’t be risen also?” That gave him something to really think about, “yes, yes you could be right!” he smiled wide and excitedly “I never thought about it.” Amanda smiled back and nodded in acknowledgment “glad I could help.”
That night at dinner time Corin came down, acting as if nothing had happened, but he seemed drowsy and weaker although he walked without the crutch. When Mouse brought it to him he only stared blankly at it, as if trying to figure out why she brought it to him and what it was. However when he finally spoke it was to tell her gently he didn’t need it anymore.
When he finally was able to speak Amanda took advantage. She approached him and asked gently if he was all right. He looked at her blankly for so long she grew worried, saying his name a few times until he finally blinked a few times and looked up at her and murmured, “You wanted something?”
Concerned she sat beside him, asking, “are you all right? You seem ill, can I help somehow?” He looked distant and didn’t answer and she grew even more worried. Jason walked past her, said “he’ll be fine once he’s fed. I’ll take him out to do so when the children are in bed.”
“But what about meanwhile? He needs to eat and what about before then?”
“He’ll be fine, don’t worry. Corin, go sit at the table, it is time for dinner” and without a single change of expression or body moment he rose and went to the dining room, seated at the table, the children looking at him in concern as well as he never once acknowledged them, even Red or Mouse.
After dinner he went up to his room while Jason helped Amanda and Hank get the children ready for bed. Once they all were in bed they heard the two leaving the house. This time Amanda choose not to follow them.
