Into the Woods
Isabella's heart trembles. The fear of the unknown of the enemy behind the leaves makes her hands shudder. A beast? A man? Those thoughts run across her mind as she points her ricquelle to where the sounds come from.
"Antille, stay behind me!", Isabella yells turning her head towards behind her.
"...so what I have heard was true."
The voice came from behind the leaves. Cutting an opening to the bushes, a man comes out with his sword.
"Isabella the Felon! Your head will be mine!!"
His sword flies swiftly across the blowing wind, as the man himself skips swiftly straight towards Isabella. However, before he could evade, the ricquelle was already cleanly piercing the very hand that was holding the sword. Without a breath, Isabella makes her ricquelle run through the man's right hand. As she does so, his blood and fingers dance across the sky, as if the ricquelle was giving them the rhythm. The sun's rays that cut through the leaves penetrates the blood, spreading the crimson colors throughout the earth. The man's scream was full of fright. His voice echoed across the forest. The dancing blood finally falls to the earth, and Isabella's ricquelle now makes the other fingers dance on it's own, independent from the left hand they belonged to.
"Who are you? Why have you come for me?", asks Isabella.
"D...damn you! You are the true beast!! Every swordsman of the region desires the ransom on you!!!"
While he tries to ease the pain on his fingerless hands by crossing his arms, surrounding the wound with the cape he wears.
(A ransom! So they are already after us. I should have known! Antille disappears from the mansion, and at the same time I disappear. Seeing the guards killed in the streets and in the forest, anybody would be able to predict the situation!)
As Isabella returns from her thoughts, she recognizes the man in pain in front of her.
"I've heard enough of you singing. I will put you out of your misery, you can thank me for that when I join you in hell."
As Isabella says those words, she runs the ricquelle through the man's neck, and his head is pushed away from the body by the gushing blood bursting from what used to be a man.
Without any expression, Antille watched everything, every moment. Antille then glances at Isabella's eyes, which already turned back from her beastly eyes into those of the woman's.
"Let us go now, you have heard about the ransom, right? We must hurry."
As she says so, Antille slowly gets himself up.
