Chapter 8
Thank yous go out to all who have reviewed, those who have asked and asked about updates for this story, and for basically giving me the kick in the ass needed to get me back in my groove. So thank you.
This chapter was pretty light and sweet, but more music, more clubbing, and more arguments are to come, don't you worry about that. ;-)
Chapter 8
“So what’s the verdict on you?” Vince asked as they walked out the clinic together. He had saw the paleness on his love’s face and had thought for the worst.
“Um……the verdict?”
“Yeah. Are you or aren’t you?”
“Huh?” Think, fool. He’s talking about the AIDS test you both went to the clinic for. “Oh. I’m, I’m negative.”
Vince smiled. “Oh good.” He watched Keith once he climbed in the blue Yukon and saw the worried look on his face. “Um, you do know that being ‘negative’ is a big ‘positive’ in this case, right?”
“Yeah, yeah. I know.”
“So what’s the matter? You’re stomach upset again? You wanna go back home?”
“No. No, I’m just a little nervous about meeting your family today. I hope they like me.”
Vincent smirked before he leaned in and gave his gray-eyed boyfriend a kiss on the lips. “They’ll love you. I promise.”
Keith sighed. “Oooookay. Wait. They DO know you date men, right? They won’t be surprised when I walk through the door?”
The mulatto skinned dj laughed as he drove down the highway. “I’ve already talked to them about you. Unless they think Keith is a unisex name—which I doubt—they already know you’re a guy.”
“And they are cool with it?”
“Yep. Baby, stop worrying. It will be fine, okay?”
“Okay.” Keith could eventually calm himself down enough to handle meeting his lover’s family—it was his BIG news he was still frightened of. He sighed as he looked out the window to the passing scenery. He knew Vince loved him and he loved Vince, but was a baby in their plans? Keith had no previous experience with children. He tends to shy away from many of them. And Vince……hell, he didn’t even know if Vincent LIKED kids cause children never came up in their conversations. Would he toss him away once he found out? Would he pressure Keith to give the baby up for adoption or have an abortion? Keith had no clue how this was gonna turn out.
It took approximately 1 ½ hours to get to the suburbia outside of town where Vincent’s parents lived. Vincent had previously informed Keith that his parents were divorced. His mother had moved out when it was finalized but his father moved her back in when she developed heart disease. Even though the relationship was over, the love and mutual respect was still between them and Vince’s father wanted his wife nowhere else but back home so he could help take care of her.
It was a one-story, ranch-style, brick home, complete with dark green shudders, paved driveway along the side, thick green grass, and a small WELCOME TO OUR HOME sign beside the door. “Aw, what a quaint little house in such a cute little neighborhood.” Keith said with an exaggerated smile.
“…….Shut up.” Vince rolled his eyes.
Together the couple hopped out the SUV and walked to the front door. Vince knocked. “Coming.” A deep voice called through the door. They heard heavy feet approach, then the door opened, revealing an attractive, tall, African-American man of solid build, with black hair topped off with sprinkles of gray, dark brown eyes, and a goatee with a bit more grays than on his head. The man had a bright smile on his face. “Vince.”
Vincent smiled back and hugged the equally large man. “Hey, pop.” He backed away and gestured towards Keith. “Pop, this is Keith, my new toy for the moment.” He smiled when his lover glared back at him.
“Oh yes, you’ve mentioned him before. He talks about you all the time, Keith—I bet he’s never told you that.” The man hugged him.
“No he hasn’t. It’s nice to meet you…”
“Terrance, but you can call me Terry.”
Keith smiled. “Okay.”
“Welcome. Come on inside.”
As Vince and Keith walked inside the home, Keith glanced over his lover’s father. He definitely saw where Vince’s looks came from. He was the exact image of his father, only younger and slightly lighter skinned.
Terry took them into the den. “Y’all have a seat. I’ma go get your mother, Vince.” As he left down the hall, Vincent and Keith grabbed a seat on the sofa.
“Your father is really nice.”
The young dj nodded. “Yeah, he can be. Just don’t get him started on goals, the future, and education….especially if it’s YOURS. He’s an educator and school principal to the core, so he doesn’t favor those who don’t do anything with their lives.”
“Yeah, so?”
“He doesn’t call dee-jaying a nightclub ‘doing something with your life’.”
“Oooooh.”
“Yeah. That’s why when he found out that I was looking for a second job, he got me on really quick as a mechanic for one of his friend’s auto-garages.”
Terry came back in, followed behind by a slender woman with jaw-length dirty blonde hair, brown eyes, and flawless tan skin. The woman was gorgeous and looked somewhat foreign to Keith. A wide smile graced her face when she saw the two young men sitting in the den. “Ciao, il mio amore.” The woman said in her Italian accent. Vincent smiled, standing up to hug his mother.
“Hey, mama.”
“How are you, Vincent? Are you well?”
“I’m good. Real good.” He turned and gestured for Keith to come and the young man with the raven hair got up to stand next to his lover. Vincent placed his arm around Keith. “Mama, this is Keith, the love of my life.”
Keith blushed. He was never the sentimental type and saying or hearing things like the declaration of love Vincent just gave was not in his forte. Especially publicly. Vince was more than comfortable with it though and smiled at the sudden color that graced his love’s cheeks.
Vince’s mother smiled as she hugged the young man. "Ciao e benvenuto, Keith. I’ve heard so much about you. My name is Giada.”
“It’s nice to meet you too.”
Giada grabbed Keith’s chin and smiled at her son. “I like this one, Vincent. È molto sveglio.”
Vince laughed. “Haha! I’d say so too.”
***
“So how long have you two been together?” Terry asked as the group sat in the den.
“One year.” Vince replied then drank from his glass of lemonade.
“One year?” Giada started, “You two seem to be getting serious, no?”
He shrugged. “We’re just taking everything one day at a time. Wherever our relationship takes us, you know?” He glanced at Keith with a smile. “And I’m enjoying the ride.”
Keith’s lips trembled in an insecure smile. You may not know what’s coming up next for us, but I do…
I buzz went off in the kitchen and Giada stood from her seat. “Dinner is ready. I fixed meatballs with mushroom sauce and risotto mixed with pesto. Would you care to help me, Keith?”
“Um, sure.” Standing up, he trailed after the blonde Italian woman to the kitchen. “It smells wonderful in here.”
Giada smiled as she grabbed her oven mits to pull out the meatballs she let finish cooking in the oven. “Have you ever had any of this?”
“No. Well, I’ve had meatballs before but they were more like processed meat, came in a tv dinner box, and weren’t as big as these.”
“You’ll love this. Myself, I could eat the risotto and pesto all day.”
Keith marveled at Giada’s accent. Her voice was so alluring, it was spell-binding. He knew that was one thing that drew Terry to her back in their younger years.
“Would you mind, taking that large silver spoon there and stirring the mushroom sauce?”
“Sure.” Keith grabbed a spoon and started to stir.
“That’s good. Now, if you could pour it over these meatballs for me.” The raven haired young man lifted the sauce pan, tilting it, letting the light brown sauce slowly pour over the glass dish filled with meatballs. “You know Keith, I had a dream last night…”
He blinked. “Oh?”
She nodded, still watching the sauce pour. “It wasn’t about anything in particular. Nothing was even going on. But me having this dream carried a lot of meaning. In my country, when women get these dreams, they are always true. Never once have I witnessed a woman dream this dream and it be false.”
Keith quickly glanced at the woman, confused, before he looked back to his task. “What dream did you have?”
“I dreamed of conigli.”
Keith paused and lifted his eyebrows at the woman. “……You—you dreamed of what?”
“I dreamed of a field of rabbits. Rabbits of different colors—white, brown, black, black and white, brown and white, gray—“
“That’s an awfully odd dream to have, Ms. Giada. Why do women in your country take a dream like that so seriously?”
Keith watched a beautiful smile come across her face as she looked back at him. “Rabbits symbolize fertility.” Keith’s eyes grew large and she continued. “Women take these dreams so seriously because when she has that dream, either she or someone in her family is pregnant. And I know I’m not and my other son, Antonio, has taken this vow of celibacy, so…” She looked pointedly at the surprised young man. “Have you told him yet?”
“No. I just found out about it today. I’m a month along.” Keith finished emptying the pan and set it back on the burner. “Honestly, I’m a bit nervous about telling him.”
“Well, why?”
“His reaction. I don’t know what he’s gonna think about this. I mean, this baby wasn’t planned.”
“I know my son. I know he loves you. I’ve never seen him act the way he does when he talks about you or when he looks at you. Sure, it may not have been planned, but he will be so happy to find out you’re pregnant. You need to tell him, Keith.”
Keith nodded. She was right. He loved Vincent and he deserved to know. “Okay. I’ll tell him.”
Giada smiled. “Good. Now lets take this food to the dining room table, yeah?”
“Alright.” He let the woman go first, letting her grab the large bowl of pesto covered risotto and he the meatballs, to the dining room. But she soon stopped in her tracks.
“Oh, and Keith…”
“Yeah?”
“One of the rabbits in my dream……..had a pink bow around it’s neck.”

Curled up languidly on the sofa flipping tv channels in his dorky but extremely comfortable Harry Potter pajama set, Kyle was bored. He made plans with the salon and his customers that he wasn’t going to be in that day so he could spend some time with Leo. They’d been seeing little to none of each other lately and he wanted to atleast have one day where he could change that. But did that work out? Noooooooo. Leo goes in to the restaurant at five, cutting their day in half. Kyle missed his Leo, terribly.
I just want a little alone time with him…..is that too much to ask?
It was 11:30 when the now drowsy Kyle heard the front door open then close. Footsteps came up behind him and suddenly a bouquet of red roses was before his face. “What’s this?” He asked.
“A peace offering. So maybe you won’t try to hit me or something.”
Kyle took the flowers and smelled them. He loved the smell of roses. “I’d much rather hit you.”
Leo smiled. He knew the boy had forgiven him. He started to walk to the kitchen. “I brought home dinner too. From the restaurant.”
“Really?” Kyle followed him into the kitchen, placing the roses in a glass vase and set it on the kitchen table. “What’d you bring?”
“Nothing special, just chopped sirloin, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Oh, and rolls. Where’s Keith and Vince? I got enough for them too.”
“They haven’t gotten back from visiting Vince’s parents yet. Keith had called me on his cell though and said they were on their way.”
Leo nodded with a smirk. “So we’re alone?”
“For the time being…” He noticed the funny look his boyfriend was giving him. “What?”
Not saying a word, Leo approached Kyle, kissing him passionately. Moaning at the intensity, Kyle placed his hands on either side of his love’s face, while the young chef began to unbutton the pajama shirt he wore. Once opened, he peeled the shirt off the boy’s shoulders and moved his lips to the smooth, slender, collarbone.
“Mmmm…..Leo.” Kyle moaned. He gasped when he licked at his nipple, sucking it soon after. Pulling the shirt completely off, Leo tossed Kyle’s shirt over his shoulder. With a quick kiss to his lips, he lifted the cosmetologist onto the kitchen island.
“Let’s get you out these hideous pajamas.” He pulled his pants and underwear down then pulled his own shirt over his head, revealing a solid, strapping, torso.
“They are not—Ah!” Kyle lost his train of thought when Leo placed his mouth over his growing erection. Bending his upper body over, he lifted Kyle’s legs over his shoulders so he could better service him.
Sitting up on his hands, Kyle looked down at his lover, watching with lustful pale-gray eyes as his mouth worked wonders on his penis. But soon he dropped to lay on his back when one of Leo’s hands moved from around Kyle’s waist to his backside, where the boy felt a finger gently massage his entrance.
“Ugghhh! Oh shit.” Kyle rubbed both his hands over Leo’s buzzed brunet hair. He loved the feel of his extremely short prickly hairs when he would massage his head. It felt only slightly coarser than velvet. “Keith is……gonna kill me if…….he finds out we’re…….we’re doing this in his kitchen.” He felt a tightening in his groin. “Leo……..I’m gonna come.” He whispered. His breathing got heavier. His skin got hotter. His muscles began to tighten and then……
*click*
“Oh shit!” Kyle said before he pushed Leo away and hopped off the island.
“They’re back?” His lover asked.
“Yes. Where are my clothes?”
The couple both scrounged around for their clothing, quickly pulling it back on, before Vincent opened the front door.
“Hey, you guys have fun?” Leo asked. He only had to put his shirt back on, so he walked out the kitchen and met the older couple first. Keith frowned at his appearance.
“Yeah, we had a great time. My parents loved Keith.” Vince replied. He noticed his friend’s ‘off’ look too, but didn’t put two and two together until Kyle came out from the kitchen with a disheveled look on his face and a few buttons missing on his shirt that he obviously tried to re-button in a hurry. But it was his lover that spoke what he was thinking.
“You two were having sex weren’t you?”
Kyle’s eyes widened. “W—what?”
“’W—what?’” Keith mimicked. “You two were having sex…….in my kitchen.”
“I….well we…..um…”
“How’d you figure that?” Leo asked.
“Well, you both look like an unkempt mess and if the front of your jeans get any tighter, Leo, they’re gonna rip.” Leo just scratched his head. Vincent laughed. “We’ll let you two finish you little rendezvous then. Me and Vince are going to bed.” Grabbing Vince by the arm, Keith dragged him upstairs to their room. Undressing, Keith climbed into bed and while watching his lover undress, they started to talk.
“Did you enjoy yourself today?” Vince asked as he removed his shirt.
“Yeah.” While his lover’s back was turned, Keith placed a hand on his bare stomach, feeling what inevitably was their baby growing inside. However, when Vince turned around, he removed his hand. “I had fun.” He smiled. “The food was great.”
The dj laughed. He pushed his jeans down, tossing them in the dirty hamper. He fished through the dresser for a pair of pajama pants. “Yeah, mama has always been good at fixing authentic Italian food.”
“You know, she mentioned you had a brother named Antonio who was practicing celibacy…”
“Haha. Yeah, he’s my older brother by two years. He’s really into health of the body and whatnot. He’s a vegetarian, does yoga, has given up using profanity. He’s trying to fully cleanse his body right now and ‘become one with himself’ so he’s denying himself sex of any kind.”
“That takes a very determined mind to do all that.”
“Pssh, he’s a fool.” They laughed. “I’d never be able to give up meat OR sex.” Vince walked to be bed and kissed Keith slowly. “Cause you’re very addicting.”
Keith smiled shyly. “Um, Vince….there’s something I gotta tell you.”
He walked back to the dresser. “What?”
“I…I….I’m…”
Vince noticed the nervousness in Keith and he frowned, turning back around. “Baby, whatever it is, you can tell me. Good or bad.”
“………You sure?”
“I’m positive. I love you.”
“Okay. When we went to the clinic today for our AIDS tests, my test came back negative, but the doctor said I….was….” Keith looked him in the eyes and sighed. “Vince, I’m pregnant.”
Vincent’s mouth dropped open. His face became pale. “…..Vince?” The stunned dj’s eyes rolled to the back of his head before he suddenly dropped to the floor.
