Quiet Time

This chapter of the poem is a departure from the rhyming verse
of the other chapters. It is more of a release
of emotions, frustrations and realizations that she
is ultimately gone.

This quiet time,
a credulous creed
as the sun does scorn these precious moments
and cruelly casts shadows
of despair within my mind.

The words barely make a presense
from crippled lips and branded heart,
"I'll miss you my love,"
love being the very nemesis of my heart
and yet the grail of my life.

My visions, obscured by tears
the longer you are gone
and by puny dreams that foster
a pretense of desire.

The rain has become my scepter now,
empowering me beyond
an otherwise meaningless existence,
through this cumbersome ache
that dwells in my heart
and gropes about in misty dreams,
as if searching in vain for your touch.

This quiet time then being
to blight what little I have left
and to blatantly explain that you are gone!

The rain,
thus I do pray,
to restore a memory of companions,
unerring in love,
yet unscathed by your absence
together again transformed by eternity.
