CHAPTER EIGHT

Kyle led the way to where Marcus had said they could probably get out. He now handed Marcus over to the man next to him as he went to the window. He smashed it and looked out it was a drop but they could make it without serious injury. The group looked at him as he turned. \"Okay we can make it out but it\'s a drop roll when you hit.\" he said. \"Jacob I want you to toss Marcus to me after I get out.\" He said. \"We\'ll be going last.\" he said.

Jacob looked at him for a minute. \"No I\'ll catch him.\" He said. He watched the other\'s jump out and went out after the last one went through. He stood up and looked at Kyle ready to catch the young man. \"Okay now.\" he said. He watched as Kyle dropped Marcus and caught him going to the ground again but moving quickly out of the way so Kyle could make it out. He watched Kyle jump and roll when he hit. \"You all right?\" he asked Kyle.

Kyle looked at him as he got up. \"I\'m good.\" He said and took his brother from him. \"Okay let\'s go head for the cars.\" he said. \"Just don\'t let your guard down there maybe things out here.\" he said. as he began to walk toward where they parked the cars. They had to pass through a graveyard to get there. Kyle looked around and thought this was a bad horror movie. He suddenly heard the beating of wings and looked up. \"Something is above us.\" he warned.

One of the ladies suddenly cried out and backed away from the way they were head. \"Something is also coming at us from the ground!\" She screamed just as a howl filled the air. She looked at the men who now tried to watch both the sky and ground. Kyle was looking at all of them and trying to figure out what to do.

The creature suddenly moved closer to the group and it\'s red eyes glowed evilly. It loped towards them on all fours and raised it\'s head and gave a howl. It was time to feast on living flesh of human\'s. It sniffed the air and began to move faster towards the group. It was sick of corpses it had fed on as it moved it didn\'t know it was spotted by one of the men until he heard the cry go up that it was a werewolf. He snorted at that he was much more.

The group took off running then all but Kyle who was carrying Marcus. Kyle watched the creature start after the ones running. \"Don\'t run!\" he shouted. \"It\'s attracting him more!\" He warned. 3 of them stopped but the rest kept running. The werewolf leapt and sank it\'s teeth into one of the runners. The girl screamed and began to struggle even as it began to tear at her leg shaking it back and forth trying to get it to come off. Blood began to spray everywhere as it finally did what it wanted and then went for the rest of the girl. It sunk it\'s teeth into her throat and gave a vicious snap of it\'s head snapping the girls neck making the blood splatter even more. It ignored the rest now that it had it\'s meal.

Kyle looked at the rest of them who watched in horror. \"Come on move it.\" he said. \"There\'s nothing we can do for her.\" he said as he continued to move worry on his face for Marcus who felt a little chilled. He then heard something else cry like a bird but with a much more human quality to the cry. He looked up and spotted something flying around that was as big as a large horse but more like a lion shape to it. The torso was that of human\'s from what he could tell. He really didn\'t know what it was called but he knew it meant trouble when it saw it had a beak as it drew closer. It was hooked like a hawks so it was meant to eat meat. He couldn\'t run with his burden and watched the other\'s. \"It\'s coming for us head for the cover of the trees.\" He said thinking it would be safe.

In the tree\'s the men looked around and watched the creature screech its displeasure. It landed and headed for the forest it walked along and swung it\'s tail angrily. It suddenly began to thrash around as vines snaked out and caught it dragging it towards a large pod. The human\'s watched in horror realizing they could easily fall into the plants trap. Suddenly the forest seemed to come alive branches moved around and some dipped down to see if there was food around. The forest was a living thing and now searched for something to feed on it knew more creatures were in here. Root\'s lifted to move along the ground looking for something to drag back to feed off from.

Kyle watched and his eyes closed at this. He then heard Marcus talk and couldn\'t believe it. The boy had been out cold until now. He looked down and saw Marcus\'s eyes were open but vacant. \"Don\'t let it touch you or it will grab you.\" A strange voice came from Marcus. \"You can make it out only if you pick your way carefully. Fire scares them.\" the voice said. \"The young one you hold will be all right but unable to move.\" The voice told Kyle before he could ask \"I\'m one of the victims I would help through this body set me down.\" Kyle did as he was told and looked at the rest. They watched as it began to pick a path and the other\'s followed it. \"I can help you only out of the forest than you will be on your own watch for the serpents.\" Then continued to lead the way. \"Do not stray from the path I pick or it will be your end.\"

One of the men suddenly tripped when they were all most out of the forest. He got up off the path and a root happened to be there the root suddenly shot out and pierced the man through chest lifting him off the ground. The other\'s watched in horror as the root came out of his chest and he looked at them with blood running from his mouth and nose. The tree root lifted and carried the man to the trunk that suddenly seemed to open up and it deposited the man into it where acid began to eat away at the man as they watched.

Kyle moved after his brother and they all finally made it out but missing 2 members. Marcus just stood there and began to sway. Kyle rushed to him and caught him as he fell. \"Marcus are you all right?\" He asked worriedly. Then he noticed the boys eyes closed and realized that Marcus was just Marcus now. He headed out again. He remembered the warning though and looked around. The others did too and also kept their eyes open for the serpents.
